Anyone Heard Back From 2024 Wimbledon Ballot Yet?

Hello All

I am wondering whether I am going to be successful in Wimbledon Ballot for July 2024. My account says "You have not been successful yet" which is so far so good, obviously.

It would be good to hear if anyone has been allocated tickets yet or if there's a while to wait. I am pretty sure it was around this time last year I got my allocation email.

Thanks

Ds finally got an email but nothing currently available to purchase.

So what are you expected to do now, just keep constantly logging in to check if something becomes available? Or will they send you an email when something comes back? A bit of a crazy system !

LIZS · 23/03/2024 14:18

Yes they suggest checking back for returns

ArtfullyCrumpled · 23/03/2024 16:52

Got the email today - ballot is now completed. Better luck next year I hope!

You have to check in regularly, as returns can come back on sale any time up until July. It just needs perseverance.

For those wanting to queue, the second week is much easier and you don't have to turn up at sparrowfart. Get there from 8am-ish and you will easily get grounds passes (and Court One for doubles at the end of the week).

ThePoshUns · 23/03/2024 17:07

I had the same email

No kidding it must take perseverance. If they put back tickets returned “at any time” then what are the chances that I check just after a pair gets put up for sale. I mean, I’m all for checking regularly but likely someone will have checked at the right time since I cannot be checking constantly. Odds are very low it seems.

thanks for the tip for the queue in the second week. If we wanted to try and get tickets for singles via the queue, I guess it would be mid tournament, in the experience of those who have lived this before, what time do you think we would need to arrive at the queue in the morning. We went to the Australian open in January and have tickets for the French and US open already so we really want to try and see a match at Wimbledon to complete the set this year

ArtfullyCrumpled · 24/03/2024 16:26

@znino if you want tickets for Centre Court or Court no 1 you are best to get in the queue for the queue the night before. Or super-early in the morning.

My understanding is that camping out the night before just means that you are on spot very early the morning of and that people who have camped out the night before get assigned queue numbers very early like 6am. If this is true, would you say I gain nothing by camping the night before if I just show up at 6am to the queue?

ArtfullyCrumpled · 24/03/2024 16:36

Around 6am the stewards come round to those camping with their ticket number for The Queue. Number one goes to the first tent and all tents are set up in rows. We arrived at 5pm the evening before, we were in row 2 and in the morning we were given ticket number 20-something for The Queue. You pack up, put your things in storage and then find your number in the queue. By around 10am you get to the front of the queue and we had the choice of Centre Court or Court Number 1 - depends who you are there to see. It's absolutely great fun!

znino · 24/03/2024 20:37

Ok that makes more sense. so all the tent people get the first numbers, even if they hand out the numbers only in the morning. So if I get there let’s say at the time in the morning that they start giving tickets to the tent people, I should be one of the first that didn’t stay overnight and should be in decent shape. Hopefully! The wife says she’s is not camping out lol.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 24/03/2024 22:05

Yes if you arrive at 6am say then you'll have a good place in The Queue. Take a camping seat each a blanket and and a picnic... the earlier you get there the better. You can donate camping chairs etc for the people waiting the next day.

I entered the ballot this year and was unsuccesful! How do you view the returned tickets. Thank you!

You need an email giving a link to check.

Fizzywinegum · 25/03/2024 21:13

My DS got a link to the email for resale tickets but I didn’t - wonder why some people get the link and others don’t

I was just told that I could buy a poster!

This is the first year we've had an email for returns,

This is the first year we've had an email for returns,

I got the email and I have tried the link quite a few times now. Generally I see all the courts showing Unavailable but once in a while, some of them are no longer greyed out. I click on them and select one or two tickets, depending on what is shown as possible (Some options might say sold out while another for the same session lets me choose number of tickets) to click on however when clicking Add to cart, it inevitably says there are insufficient tickets to fulfil your selection. It is very frustrating to say the least. Refreshing the page usually then keeps showing that session as available but when selecting the number of tickets it fails again. At some point, the session goes to Unavailable but I have seen instances where it comes back again. It is so strange, like the system has a glitch. I can imagine perhaps a lot of people are selecting it but I would think the tickets are being selected and sold. Why do they go from unavailable to available (but not selectable to add to cart)?

The whole system is absurd because it seems to randomly show sessions as available at different times during the day. People can't be expected to just keep checking nonstop? They should just offer tickets that become available randomly to those that were initially unsuccessful with the first lottery. It looks like I won't have a choice but just to fly to London and do the queue on the day of and pray :(

Pandaandpurple · 19/04/2024 13:19

I have just been on the resale site and secured two tickets for court 2 on day 10 - likely women’s and men’s doubles (QF?) if I’ve looked back at last year correctly. I’ve been on several times to find that they can’t sell the tickets they were offering (on days not greyed out as per the pp), but this time it has worked. Likely that it’s less of a draw to go to the doubles, but I’m pleased nonetheless!

SlightlyJaded · 19/04/2024 16:32

I literally got the link about two hours ago today. Seems to be no logic to it at all

SlightlyJaded · 19/04/2024 16:33

And FWIW availability at the moment is Court 1 Day 13 / Day 14 which is (based on last year's schedule) Ladies and Men's Invitation doubles and Wheelchair semi finals at £50 a ticket

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 19/04/2024 17:43

I was thinking of doing the Queue this year, I never have any luck with the ballot. Every year it's "will it be my year" it never is.

SmithfamilyRobinson · 19/04/2024 18:40

I also got two tickets today @Pandaandpurple for Court 2, Day 10! I wonder if these had become available as they were returns/ hospitality tickets? This system is not ideal but better than Ticketmaster when you could only apply 24 hours before hand on the stroke of 10.00am! I got lucky for ladies semis and then once the middle Monday.
Keep the faith - tickets will be released by people who want to cash them in and/or have clashes in their calendar. Possibly more options in week 2 when the tickets are more expensive...?
I was checking 3 times a day and it was getting stressful.

Pandaandpurple · 19/04/2024 20:30

Will see you there @SmithfamilyRobinson! 😂

Hapagirl48 · 21/04/2024 15:18

Did you all get an email notifying you that these tickets were available or were you just checking the resale site?

SmithfamilyRobinson · 21/04/2024 16:48

Yes just checking resale site. A LOT

C2 on day ten will be doubles, were they quite reasonable?
