Anyone Heard Back From 2024 Wimbledon Ballot Yet?

Hello All

I am wondering whether I am going to be successful in Wimbledon Ballot for July 2024. My account says "You have not been successful yet" which is so far so good, obviously.

It would be good to hear if anyone has been allocated tickets yet or if there's a while to wait. I am pretty sure it was around this time last year I got my allocation email.

Thanks

They need to develop a system for people with Centre or No 1 court tickets to be able to temporarily donate them to someone else and then claim them back later in the day. People with those tickets will want to pop out for breaks, and there might be a match on an outside court that they would prefer to watch, but don’t want to give up the ticket completely so they can go back in later. Currently, you can donate show court tickets back for resale but that means that you would then lose access for the rest of the day. We had No 1 court tickets on Monday but we didn’t go in until about 3.30 because we were watching a match on the outside courts. I would have happily let someone else use our seats until we were ready to go in but there’s no option to do that.

It's a good suggestion to, but one issue with it that is how do you ensure the people using your No 1 court tickets leave when you return? If there is a great match on they aren't going to be keen to leave. I'm also not sure how it would with with electronic tickets?

Yes I have no idea how it would work in practice and that’s probably why they haven’t done it!

They need to sell ground passes in advance like other slams.
People are arriving at 8am and not getting in till 3pm !!! Madness and unfair on the fans.

Aquarius1234 · 03/07/2024 18:01

And 6pm if you get there at 11am. Never happened in the last five years or so.
Stupid!!!

We went yesterday. The block of empty seats on court 1 for the Gauff and Alcaraz matches seemed to get occupied for Raducanu's by badge holders, perhaps club members or LTA officials who had been at an event earlier or on another court. Debenture holders had green lanyards and were taking extended lunches in the lounge. It felt very empty after Raducanu's match even though an extra match appeared and it was only 6:30.

Had hoped to catch earlier play on outside courts but showers meant a delayed start. The ground ticket holders we met at 11ish had queued since 6am, We tried to get on no.2 after play on no.1 but they accepted ticketholders only, even after 8pm and with it half empty,

Surprised by some of the behaviour, letting off Prosecco corks and making phone calls during play! Can explain the cup deposit system, we redeemed one only to feel we got recharged for the next.

Has anyone been to queue for grounds or stadium tickets this year? We are flying to London from Canada tonight. I do have tickets for the quarter finals next Tuesday but we were hoping to queue up and try to get on the grounds perhaps Sunday or Monday since we will already be in London. What do you think can be expected as far as the time we could get in and what time would we need to arrive to get that time. For example, if I arrive at 7am, do I have a good chance to get grounds passes? And at what time would I likely get access to the grounds? Thanks. Very excited no matter what.

LIZS · 04/07/2024 16:51

Entry is from around 10:30. I would have thought you should get in by arriving before 7am especially in week2 when it is lower profile matches, doubles and juniors on outside courts and there is a resale desk for when people leave the show-courts for the day. Is there any play on Sunday? Normally it is a rest day or used in case of rain delays.

LIZS · 04/07/2024 16:53

Gates open 10am, my mistake. Details for queue are www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/atoz/queueing.html

MirandaWest · 04/07/2024 17:05

I think there’s been scheduled play on Sundays for a few years now.

LIZS · 07/07/2024 19:50

Yes I stand corrected. Although given the number of injuries today maybe a rest day would benefit the players.

Clarkey54 · 08/07/2024 15:03

Got email yesterday from Wimbledon to sell my debenture tickets. There must be complaints about all the empty seats all of last week

ChessieFL · 08/07/2024 15:13

You’re so lucky having debenture tickets. That’s on my list for when I win the lottery!

Hapagirl48 · 08/07/2024 16:08

Me too @ChessieFL! And a wee Wimbledon flat to go with it!

Clarkey54 · 08/07/2024 18:15

Exactly still very frustrating 💁

Clarkey54 · 08/07/2024 18:17

If I had debenture tickets I wouldn’t be here in Galway looking at the bbc 😂

Clarkey54 · 15/07/2024 19:34

Thanks to all for the chat. Hopefully next year we all will get tickets for Wimbledon. Farewell from Ireland

ThePoshUns · 15/07/2024 20:04

Yes better luck next year!

LIZS · 02/09/2024 19:49

Just got an email about registering for 2025!

SmithfamilyRobinson · 02/09/2024 19:55

Me too. Did anyone get returns nearer the tournament itself? I was unsuccessful in the ballot but managed to get court 2 tickets which I then released as my friend in a similar situation got court 1 - we didn't feel we could manage two long days in a row!
I promised my friend we'd get men's finals for 2025. Watch this space!

Ohmylovejune · 03/09/2024 07:54

I've applied for 2025!

notagain12345 · 07/11/2024 14:28

I got an email on monday saying i was successful - in clutter so would have missed it if i wasnt looking for something else.... I logged in at 2pm today (earliest time) possible (but you get 2 weeks apparently) and was put in a queue - like for Oasis tickets. 15 mins later was in but only number 2 court tickets were left. They opened the queue 3 mins early so i should have been on my email for the link rather than in the mywimbledon app (in case more are coming and others get the chance)

That's interesting, I got an email a couple of weeks ago telling me I was successful, and the email told me which day and court I was being offered, and I had 2 weeks to accept and pay for them. This is how things have worked for ages with the public ballot - they tell you what they're offering you, and you decide if you want them.

I wonder if they've changed how they offer tickets which were rejected in previous rounds and you now choose and buy them like concert tickets? The LTA ballot works like that in its first round, it's stressful but does mean you get to choose (or try to!) a day you know you are able to go.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 07/11/2024 18:37

Actually, having just looked on Twitter, I think you were buying in the LTA ballot, not the main public one?

notagain12345 · 07/11/2024 22:05

Hi there sorry all yes I've now realised it was the LTA one - apologies for any stress...
