Help me solve this strange mystery?!?!

I’m sorry but something happened last night and I will not move past it until the mystery is solved.

I loaded the dishwasher with the usual plates, cutlery etc and the last thing to be added was a big dish that the lasagne was in. I clearly remember putting it in there as I had to slightly manoeuvre it to get it in (it’s quite a big dish).

Any way………. The cycle finished. The dish is gone. Nowhere to be seen. Wasn’t in the dishwasher when I unloaded it. Not in the house.

What. On. Earth. Is. Going. On.

Either….. 1. I am crazy or 2. The dishwasher ate it.

There is simply no explanation.

You probably thought twice about it being in the dishwasher, washed it up and put it away.

I've got one of those mysteries in my house - I bought a new swimsuit 2 weeks ago, tried it on, left it in my bedroom. Now, I can't find it anywhere - I've looked in drawers, wardrobe, washing basket, ironing basket, rubbish bin, bag of stuff for a charity shop. Nowhere!

Check your neighbour’s bin. Your dh started emptying the dishwasher, took the dish out first because it’s the biggest item, broke it (ours broke in two pieces when I took it out because there had been a small crack in it) and put it in either your or neighbour’s bin. Now he thinks you should stop talking about it of course because it’s not a mystery to him.

How big is the filter in your dishwasher 😃

Either it wasn't put in or the husband knows where it is and isn't saying for some reason

That happened to me once with a new bra, couldn't find it anywhere until months later I was decorating and needed to move some drawers, took the individual drawers out and somehow it had gone down the back and was stuck where it couldn't be seen

Is It in the sink, soaking in the washing up bowl, under the water?

Is your dishwasher next to your washing machine?

Washing machines regularly do this to socks. The dishwasher had an idea to go one better...

Maybe the dishwasher did such a good job it's there but so clean you're looking right through it!

Is it bigger than the washing up bowl? It could be in the sink under the bowl, avoiding being seen.

Guessing you've checked wherever it was you left the room to go (bathroom, utility etc). Always check the bin and recycling.

Do you have a dog flap? Small child come in and borrowed it cos you were mean at Halloween? Sounds like the only explanation to me. Case closed. Move along people

Have you checked the bottom of the dishwasher under the bottom rack to see if there are lots of pieces of smashed dish?

This. With mine it was stainless steel and I thought it had vanished because although I was looking at it I thought it was the back of the dishwasher.

I think we can discount other people getting in as one of you was in the room at all times.

Either you didn’t put it in - but if so where is it,
You took it out but have forgotten - but if so where is it,
DP took it out and hid it.
