We could have a game of Dare to be a ... Jeremy Hunt.

Notonthestairs · 20/11/2023 08:16

That's pretty funny.

Suspect Patel will run in any leadership election - knocked out early on but with their own votes and backers to then offer up in turn.

Pretty much every Conservative comment/tweet should be viewed as them positioning themselves post election.

Be more like Jeremy

Jeremy Hunt created a cost of living crisis for new tenants of a flat he rents out, the Tory Chancer of the Exchequer charging them £300 more a month than previous occupants.

The 18% increase was almost twice the rate of inflation at the time.

I think that is a good point @DuncinToffee; maybe also as Home Sec?

Patrick Vallance is giving evidence at the Covid Inquiry today

Listening to him... it's like the grown ups have come back in the room.

DuncinToffee · 20/11/2023 11:13

Apparently Sunak is giving a speech at the moment but the news channels are covering the Inquiry instead

World class education, for whom? And where will they teach that, portacabins?

OP posts:
Zonder · 20/11/2023 11:47

World class education so long as you don't have a child with any kind of SEN, or if your family can't afford to eat then you need a child who doesn't mind going to school hungry and can still learn. And really if you want to get the best of this world class education it would be better if you pay to go private because at least then you have the chance of a decent school building.

pointythings · 20/11/2023 11:48

Item 1 + item 2 = Austerity 2.

bombastix · 20/11/2023 12:04

World class education my foot. My last daughter has just finished state primary, and two things leap out, one of which is SEN provision which is not up to the needs of children in class; teachers inhibited from proper discipline in part because of the need to keep children in school after COVID, and then finally the food, which is disgusting due to budget cuts and I wouldn't let my dog eat.

And this is a school in a prosperous bit of London. God knows what it is like elsewhere.

That was my first thought too.

I am excited for World Class Education. No doubt he will be expanding on the details of that shortly to include the ditching of one size fits all rote learning tests that have little to do with education (except in the narrowest possible sense of the word).

Goodbye school league tables. Goodbye Ofsted, its been lovely knowing you.
Lets build an education system that teaches students skills, that they need to progress.

Has he forgotten what was is his 5 pledges at the start of the year, or does he think we have forgotten?

At least it doesnt' include the stop the boats nonsense.

Surely he has achieved the first 5? He said he would.

Close ally of the former prime minister Boris Johnson announces he’s standing down. CCHQ braced for many more Conservative MPs to announce intention not to stand for next election in coming weeks/months.

Duddridge is the 56th Tory to stand down already (incl independents who were elected as Tories). Still a year to go.

Poor Sam Coates having to listen to charisma vacuum Rishi Sunak give a speech on a Monday morning in November. He needs a pay rise.
