So are we expecting Sunak to be ousted?

bombastix · 13/11/2023 15:06

No. He should have done this a year ago. What awful timing

AutumnCrow · 13/11/2023 15:07

I hope that bloody loon Penny Mordaunt gets the boot.

She'll stand up and fight against that I expect!

You know when someone explains something complicated to you really clearly and you nod along and go "I see, I see" and you totally understand what they've said? And then 5 minutes later you've completely forgotten and confused yourself? That happened to me earlier today when a journalist friend of mine explained to me the significance of Lord Cameron's appointment. What he can and can't do and be accountable for. Something like he has parliamentary privilege but can't answer questions? And can't vote in a vote of no confidence in Sunak?

Blah! It's so hard to get my head around it! 😑

God it's all so fake with Mordaunt. Hopefully Cameron will remember when she lied about Turkey joining the EU (live on Andrew Marr), and Sunak will realise she's divisive: pro-TRA (though will deny), pro-ERG (though will deny), and the one who fucked up the Tavistock enquiry (though will deny). How she gets away with all, I cannot think ...

And Victoria Atkins is new health secretary, as rumoured. She's married to Paul Kenward, the MD of British Sugar, incidentally - one of the world's largest suppliers of sugar cane and sugar beet. Might make for interesting chats over obesity strategy, sugar tax and so on.

Handy for all the spoonfuls of sugar to help the medicine go down though.

Probably just another example of Tories giving contracts to friends and family. 😂

He could run for Tory leader and end up as PM again without having been elected to Parliament...

The frightening thing about the speed Cameron was appointed to the HOL and the Cabinet is that it could happen with someone far worse like Farage.

Vicky Atkins gets to oversee the record resources the NHS has under the conservatives.

She was the Minister for Children during the pandemic, but quite unable to represent the interests of children apparently because she wasn't a cabinet minister.

Ha. ITV have agreed to pay bigot Farage £1.3M to go in the Jungle so we're safe for a while.

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/11/2023 15:52

I would have paid £1.3million for Cameron not to be announced as foreign sec until Farage was in the jungle. And for him to come out and find out that Rishi had purged the right and put Cameron in the Lord and made him home sec. Would have been hilarious.

Agree that the speed at which Cameron has been OK’d as lifetime peer is worrying. Not totally wild about the whole you can make someone a lord and give them one of the great offices of state tbh. This government lack enough accountability as it is. They don’t need more ways to get round the House of Commons.

I bet he is! I'd rather plant 1,000 cockroach eggs in my earhole than listen to that twat!

On another subject, I bet our Nads is thinking.... it's THAT easy to get a peerage WTAF!????

Still catching up.

But on 8 o clock news as I drove ds to work we heard that Braverman likely to be sacked.

Ds reply "o wish Sunak would sack himself and do us all a favour" 😂

Me too. I’m enjoying today quite a lot on several fronts.

Roussette · 13/11/2023 16:45

Just read Nads twitter feed. Bitter? Her? Yep!
Paranoid? Yep

She is banging on about The Plot.

To be fair there is always a plot.

She is throwing shit around at anyone and everyone and hoping some of it sticks.

Notonthestairs · 13/11/2023 16:49

No.10 reveals there WON'T be an exchange of letters between @RishiSunak + @SuellaBraverman (usually a PM says how sorry they are to see a minister go, minister says how much it's been an honour to serve, blah blah).

"It’s important the government speaks with one voice…"

x.com/paulwaugh/status/1724106341885661315?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Hehe, yes I bet he doesn't want a letter from Braverman!

DuncinToffee · 13/11/2023 16:51

It will be interesting to see who is pulling Sunak's strings re Dave's appointment

This pesky thing called teaching got in the way from about 9.30 onwards. I am exhausted just reading the updates.

bombastix · 13/11/2023 17:32

The best thing is how clear it is that the majority of British people wanted Braverman gone. I am so happy about this, because I'm pretty fed up of the concern trolls on here that take their lead from her and her fellow travellers. She should have been sacked a month ago and before the police were bottled at the Cenotaph with the far right yelling her sentiments at them.

jgw1 · 13/11/2023 17:36

AIBU to be concerned for the health and well-being of our friends on these boards who like to defend Rishi. It must be a terribly troubling time for them having gone from a month ago new government Rishi is the saviour all change, to go back 13 years to Cameron. To go from last week, Braverman is wonderful, to now her being a villian. How will they cope?
