Gove likes his role as kingmaker too much.

It would be a disgrace to have a Foreign Secretary in the Lords especially at a moment of major political instability with war on the continent of Europe and a hideous conflagration in the Middle East. We’re a democracy not an elective dictatorship.

bombastix · 13/11/2023 11:43

Well it's Cleverly; interesting day.

Braverman already making noises about leadership. Deluded to the end

And another - four now. How many do we reckon by the end of the day?

Had to stop watching and do some jobs - do we know why they have resigned?

Had to stop watching and do some jobs - do we know why they have resigned?

It seems to be the usual guff about spending more time with their families.

Zonder · 13/11/2023 11:56

Should have guessed.

👀 Senior Conservative source tells me there is talk in parliament of a meeting of the New Conservatives group later today and agenda item is Suella leadership play.

We are going to need a spreadsheet with who is who and who is going where

That'll be a good plan because she's very popular with the voting public 🥴

Delusional woman. And deluded supporters

"Had to stop watching and do some jobs - do we know why they have resigned?" @Zonder

"Being told that one of the reasons a significant number of Ministers are asking to step down now is because ACOBA rules require 6 month hiatus before taking up certain jobs. Clearly believe we’re looking at May election."

Disgraceful that one of the High offices is held by someone unelected. Albeit that Cameron almost seems grown up compared to this lot.

I do agree about it better to have someone elected, but DC seems to have been the last time we had anyone vaguely resembling a grown up in charge.

Which is a terrible indictment on the state of the Tories since 2016.

IClaudine · 13/11/2023 12:10

Funny to see Tories coming onto a thread where they usually are conspicuous by their total absence. But Lammy is the But Corbyn du jour, it seems.

We had to leave the EU to take back control from unelected officials Hmm

Its the will of the people.

Have I missed something about Therese Coffey... her of the turnips and sewage in water?

She went into No.10 hours ago, still in there!

Edited

I am not a Tory but my view is David Lammy is consistently overrated. And I reckon David Cameron will run rings around him

Oh god they have wheeled out Anne Widdicombe on BBCNews

For a moment there I thought you were going to say she'd been seen going into Number10. So relieved when I got to the end of you sentence.

Roussette · 13/11/2023 12:22

I don't agree. I think Lammy is a fantastic orator, he did a blistering speech in the House on Windrush (his parents came to this country under that). No notes, passionate and stirring.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 13/11/2023 12:29

Didn't Lammy describe women worried about biological males in womens spaces as 'dinosaurs hoarding rights'? As a survivor of domestic abuse I feel very strongly that biological women have the right to spaces free from biological men and I'm absolutely disgusted that a big man thinks it's ok to use his vast platform to denigrate me for wanting to feel safe.

I believe his talent begins and ends there myself

So how does it work? He won't be allowed to speak in the Commons will he? So no speeches about anything relating to his role and no questions from anyone about it? And he can't vote on anything either? It's bizarre for such a crucial role.
