Cameron has experience but a shed load of baggage and a party that won't entirely welcome his return. I think Lammy will relish the challenge.

So who's pleased to see the lovely Therese C go in to no 10?

For a moment I thought it said Theresa M Shock

Really? 100% don't agree, I have a lot of time for Lammy. My DD has met him a number of times.

Well, this is about Labour v Con. I don't rate Lammy though his intentions are good, no doubt.

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2023 10:56

This is truly the most dreadful thing I have seen from this weekend

A lot of people underestimate Lammy, that’s his superpower.

Mmm. Could you name one portfolio where he has shown real leadership? Because he's had a lot of them

I had to read it twice.

It’s hard to show leadership when you’re in opposition.

Yes. Awful. Exactly what nobody with any sanity wants

tobee · 13/11/2023 10:59

There's still time for Theresa M to arrive at no 10! 😛

BIossomtoes · 13/11/2023 11:01

There are a lot of junior ministers stepping down this morning - three so far.

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2023 11:04

This thread is helpful for seeing how a range of people view the DC appointment

Otto English will have a field day, pointing out that DC is far more right wing than we all think - whole new book out there from him, and for Russ Jones, who must be in permanent meltdown! The Hour In Tory anyone?

Dave is Back!!! | Mumsnet

Dave Cameron is back in the cabinet…. desperate throw of the dice or inspired move to limit the inevitable defeat?

Oh god they have wheeled out Anne Widdicombe on BBCNews

tobee · 13/11/2023 11:04

My ds mentioned her as a joke turning up on tv

TheABC · 13/11/2023 11:05

This isn't governance, it's salvage. Sunak knows he only has 13 months left (at most) before a General Election. He has to show a party with some sanity or the predicted landslide to Labour will be a wipe out.

I plan to watch the PMQs this week. It should be entertaining.

To which the only possible response is;

As backwards a step as Cameron is, the last few FCs have been Johnson, Hunt, Raab, Truss and Cleverley. So whilst it’s an admittance the Tories have no talent it is probably an improvement on the last 6 years or so.

Zonder · 13/11/2023 11:06

And the BBC have dug up Anne Widdecombe to speak out in support of Suella.

Yes thats my feeling.

tobee · 13/11/2023 11:11

Sunak also (presumably) can't appoint anyone who has said they won't be standing as MP at next general election. So that leaves about 3 current Tory MPs.

But more left than the faction the Tories have been trying to appeal to which might go some way to getting the public to move back to them. The only consolation is that DCs judgement on fixing the party is so bad that he thought a brexit referendum would fix things so his attempts at resuscitating the party might just finish it off.

And another - four now. How many do we reckon by the end of the day?

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/11/2023 11:19

Also, @Piggywaspushed I’m less worried about the hour in Tory and more about how quickly RussinCheshire can publish books. He’s going to have to do the hour in Tory on Twitter while publishing a book per week.

My money is on Gove. He is sufficiently charming to fix the absolute mess this unspeakable woman has made and start sensible discussions with the police

Gove will at least make sure that he knows his brief inside out and upside down, we might not like the decisions he then makes, but it will be on the basis of knowledge.
