What is with lip fillers?!? They look so fake and awful

i’m probably showing my age (I’m in my 40s) but am I alone in thinking the lip filler look is just awful?

I see them all over social media and in real life when I’m around people in their 20s. Why? They look so fake.

I know it’s not our fault as women. We’re manipulated into thinking our bodies and faces are never good enough. But lip fillers are so ubiquitous and look so, so bad, I just don’t get it.

I don't think I have a ledge. Unless I've just got used to seeing it, but these are mine.

Not at all. Her look has always been “town tramp” - she’s spoken about it many times over the years. The reference was entirely intentional and if you knew anything about DP you’d have got it straightaway.

I remember her quote from years ago, "You'd be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap".

But of course there are people on here who are falling over themselves to cry "SEXIST", despite Dolly making a joke out of it herself.

please refer to your previous posts

So you can't give me any actual examples? How surprising! 😂

Never have I said that a woman with a face full of fakery can't be a sincere and genuine person. Unless you can prove that I have, of course.

Well, you said men like "no fakery". The examples you gave were trout pouts, any amount of Botox and orange...foundation, I assume, all in disparaging terms. You clearly disapprove. I asked you to elaborate further on what fakery might entail and got a rather stiff and formal referral to the earlier post. Is it not something you like being drawn on?

stop crying, Baz, it's unbecoming.

Yes, the examples I gave were what fakery entails. So, where have I said that a woman with a face full of fakery can't be a sincere and genuine person?

I did, hence the longer post you're ignoring.

But she uses it with irony. You've attempted to reduce her right down to it, the exact trap so many people used to fall into before they realised she was smarter than they were about it. I asked what people thought of her, and all you had to say was "based her look on a sex worker". Our friend Barry even laughed at her for it, too. He truly thought she didn't realise!

Yep - her descriptions of herself are well known if you follow her at all. Her look is carefully cultivated and she’s referenced its inspiration many times - she’s also talked about how it represented a way out of poverty for her.

Give me some examples. I know you really can't, so you have to resort to childish insults. It's hilarious! 😂😂

@SurprisedWithAHorse you can repeat yourself as many times as you like, you’re still wrong.

Holidaynovice · 07/11/2023 15:29

They do look awful imo, I find all the fakery a sad reflection on society. Is it just a British phenomenon? I was on holiday in Europe this summer, a few Brits but mainly different European nationalities and there was no obvious lips/eyebrows/botox at all. I only realised when I noticed one (British) lady will the big lips etc and realised she was the only one and stood out, it just wasn't a thing there.

Ah the crying laughing emoji x 2,

sure sign of someone who's most definitely laughing and finding everything amusing and most definitely not feeling defensive.

BarryTaylor · 07/11/2023 15:16

In addition, are all the women on this thread who are "making shitty remarks about other women" (your words, not mine) also sexist?

Nope. They are women commenting on a women's issue. Some of their comments have been unnecessarily spiteful, and there's certainly some internalised misogyny going on. But regardless, they are women discussing something that some other women choose to do.
If you are a man who has come to this thread with the purpose of pontificating about women's choices to modify their appearance, a subject that had nothing whatsoever to do with you, to make sweeping and ridiculous statements about what men like from a sample size of you and your mates, and be rude and insulting about the appearance of women, then you on the other hand are very sexist indeed.

So it would have been more acceptable in your opinion if a woman had made the same comments as me?

I agree wholeheartedly.

I hope this is not a case of a couple of men derailing, as it appears to be, by pontificating and arguing with several posters. It's becoming tiresome on threads now.

Try not to act like a child when you're unable to prove nonsense that you post. It really isn't a good look for a so-called adult.

Maybe ponder on that.

I've nothing to ponder on because nobody, including yourself, can prove it.

Maybe you should ponder on that?

It isn't a couple of men derailing, it's certain other posters who evidently cannot stand men having an opinion on anything to do with women.

It depends on the comment in question. Example?
