Have you ever seen a red squirrel?

Please tell me where! I've been to the Isle of Wight and looked in all the places I was told about, no luck. Same to a place in Scotland they apparently live in the garden, nowt. Please help me see one!

Perthshire . Balquhidder to be precise. There were lots in the trees around Loch Voil and Loch Doine. So fantastic to see.

Yes, recently when I was campervanning up at Culloden Moor just south of Inverness - a couple if time in the space if 5 days. Prior to that - in Dodd Wood, East of Bassenthwaite lake just North of Keswick - there's a red squirrel feeding station there. I've seen them in a few places but you have to keep your eyes peeled - I walk a lot with my dog but I'm normally looking and listening for birds.

National Trust nature reserve, Freshfields (Formby) in the North West. Not so many now following a viral outbreak in the late 1990s but the numbers are recovering. In the mid 80s when I was studying them as part of my degree, they were literally everywhere. I have a photo somewhere of one on my shoulder whilst another took a nit off my hand and another three or four sat on a nearby fence.

I've seen black squirrels in the US.

We only have red squirrels here (Northern Norway) and I still get so excited when I see them!! Used to see loads in Northumberland too...

I've seen a good many on Brownsea, and also in Cumbria.

And spoonbills! Don't forget the spoonbills. Brownsea has all manner of amazing wildlife there aside from the squirrels (although I did get bitten by a horse fly once, which wasn't so good!)

I also managed to encounter a Lesser Spotted Bill Oddie on the nature trail!

Yes, Wicklow, Ireland - driving down a country lane and there it was - tiny thing, bright red.

Apparently they're making a comeback since pine-martens were re-introduced, because they're light enough to get to the end of a branch where the pinemarten can't get them, but the greys are two chubby so they get eaten.

Yep! This is where I grew up :) Reds were the norm to me then I moved to London and it was fat greys everywhere 😂
