well, they are wild, you can never guarantee a sighting of a wild animal.

Lol no, and I am usually a bit of a curse when it comes to wildlife sightings!!! Reckon I've got 20yrs good years left in me to find one ha ha...

I’ve never seen a red squirrel and I spent my childhood on the Isle of Wight . I saw my first black squirrel at 50 !

OchonAgusOchonOh · 03/11/2023 17:58

In my back garden. West of Ireland. They collect the hazel nuts every year so see them on autumn and spring. It's all red squirrels west of the Shannon.

The Lake District.

QuiltedBear · 03/11/2023 17:59

Anglesey, specifically Plas Newydd (National Trust place). They have a woodland walk where we usually spot a few.

justalittlesnoel · 03/11/2023 17:59

Lots in Formby! Lovely place.

HardcoreLadyType · 03/11/2023 17:59

In Denmark.

(Also in a small zoo called Wildwood, in Kent, which has only native European species - including UK species.)

muddyford · 03/11/2023 17:59

Formby, between Crosby and Southport (north of Liverpool) . Really easy to see.
Also in Kielder Forest in Northumberland but not as simple as Formby. A friend there gets them in her garden.

Has anyone else seen black squirrels?

Yes, we have them in our village. We don't see them all that often so I still get excited when I do.

Well my dad saw his first panda at 70 so it’s never too late- hadn’t even seen one in a zoo before

Username917778 · 03/11/2023 18:01

I live in the Scottish Highlands and there are plenty, see at least 1 or 2 every morning on my street walking the dog. We actually have signs up to watch out for them when driving.

CesareBorgia · 03/11/2023 18:01

I once saw one in Macclesfield.

I think there are a lot more in Scotland than England.

I saw 11 on Brownsea Island last month, despite it raining. Never seen them in Formby. A lot of the locals are saying that they're no longer in Formby as there are so few (if any) sightings in recent times.

Yes, when we camped there we got a bit blasé about seeing them, there were so many. That said I've never seen one when we've gone for the day.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 03/11/2023 18:01

Yes, in Cumbria. But only seen one of them since we moved here 9 years ago.

Barkorama · 03/11/2023 18:01

Berlin, we had a few in our garden. They used to chase each other through the trees. Never seen one in the UK.

bookworm14 · 03/11/2023 18:01

There are loads in the Tresco Abbey Gardens on the Isles of Scilly. I even managed to photograph them!

Have you ever seen a red squirrel?
emummy · 03/11/2023 18:02

Yes, see them most dog walks in our wee town, we’re in Aberdeenshire. We also have the signs warning drivers!

MaidOfSteel · 03/11/2023 18:02
