Best teabags?

I bought Tetley and they are awful, I don't know why but they just don't taste like tea!

Can anyone answer the ultimate question of what is the best tea? I don't want to spend a fortune buying lots of different disappointing teas 😁

Oh no I was going to say Tetley! DH doesn't mind Sainsburys Red Label but I always thinks it tastes a bit...musty, is probably the best word. If you want tea out and about absolutely do NOT go to Greggs, I work there and the bags are shite. Two bags and an 8-10 min brew just to get it to taste even faintly tea-like 😖

burblish · 21/10/2023 16:19

For a proper builder’s brew, Clipper (orange box) - I don’t get the hype about Yorkshire tea at all.

frenchfancy81 · 21/10/2023 16:26

Recent convert to the 'bold' organic Clipper teabags- strong and flavoursome tea.

I like tetley. Typhoo I think is my favourite but to be honest, I buy supermarket own brand, it's fine. I drink tea black so strength is less of an issue

gotomomo · 21/10/2023 16:32

@DoubleParent Grin

Same here for tea, though wine I'm more of a snob over

gotomomo · 21/10/2023 16:34

And top tip for all - use filtered water in your kettle. It prolongs the life of your kettle and tea tastes better especially delicate flavoured ones

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 21/10/2023 16:36

Thompson's as suggested above. Fabulous....or Aldi Assam tea bags.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 21/10/2023 16:37

Ceylon tea bags from Tesco. Perfect cup of tea.

caringcarer · 21/10/2023 16:38

I prefer Morrisons decaf.

Mimilamore · 21/10/2023 16:48

Another vote for Aldi Gold, Breyer than Yorkshire which I went off and really cheap

AGAbaker · 21/10/2023 16:50

Another vote for Yorkshire Tea.

Going to try a few of the suggestions on here though, Clipper & Twinings!

RampantIvy · 21/10/2023 16:50

I can't believe that no-one has suggested PG Tips. It is the king of teas IMO.

theduchessofspork · 21/10/2023 16:51

Punjana

Proper tea

theduchessofspork · 21/10/2023 16:51

Much better than Yorkshire, which is quite nice

RudsyFarmer · 21/10/2023 16:52

Morrisons extra strong taste just like PGTips pyramid bags.

Libertass · 21/10/2023 16:53

If you want a proper, strong cuppa there really is no substitute for Yorkshire tea, brewed for the full 5minutes. I prefer the standard blend to Gold.

Mistymountain · 21/10/2023 16:54

wineandmaltesershappyme · 20/10/2023 10:55

Twinings strong English Breakfast

I was going to come on and say this. Tried it for the first time recently and prefer it to Yorkshire Tea.

TitInATrance · 21/10/2023 16:55

Co-op own brand Earl Grey for me. I’ve been known to visit several co-ops to find it when stocks are low. Quite reasonably priced, too.

ValuableLimeLesson · 21/10/2023 16:55

Nambarrie is excellent, but hard to come across (in my experience) in the mainland UK. We use Lidl's own stuff in a red box and it's great.

muddyford · 21/10/2023 16:57

Recently swapped from Tesco Red Label to Sainsbury's and it's much nicer. Yorkshire Tea is also worth a try, if it's on offer.

Nothing beats Yorkshire

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 21/10/2023 17:00

Yorkshire tea is rank, I find it has a nasty after taste.

I like PG Tips, pyramid bags. Not keen on tetley, will drink at a push.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/10/2023 17:12

Birchall’s tea is good. I don’t know what they’ve done to Tetley’s recently but it looks grey and tastes weak. Ditto Typhoo. Yorkshire not bad.

RampantIvy · 21/10/2023 17:22

Hasn't Yorkshire tea been developed to be made with Yorkshire water? Maybe that is why it might taste rank of it is made from London water for example?

Although all tea made where I grew up is rank because the water is rank. The tea is scummy (South London).

wereonthemarket · 21/10/2023 17:33

M and S Gold.

I'm a tea snob!
