Best teabags?

I bought Tetley and they are awful, I don't know why but they just don't taste like tea!

Can anyone answer the ultimate question of what is the best tea? I don't want to spend a fortune buying lots of different disappointing teas 😁

Ringtons top choice. Twinings English breakfast bottom choice.
It'll depend on your water though.

PersonalClown · 20/10/2023 12:21

I pay good money for Twinings decaff English Breakfast.
On subscription for Amazon so I don't run out!

kitsuneghost · 20/10/2023 12:23

I depends where you are in the country
Different water is different with different tea bags
Yorkshire tea and Scottish tea is not just marketing

Absolutely anything made by these guys. Thompsons. Shiny packets, sold in Tescos, Ocado do them, even Amazon, probably elsewhere. They are the only tea I like now really after trying everything. Better than Twinings AND not as expensive!

Deffo these

Wavessea · 20/10/2023 12:26

I find twinnings like bitter dish water 😩
I like my tea strong and the best ones and most economical are Waitrose own brand breakfast tea.

Snazzysausage · 20/10/2023 12:34

I never thought this would happen but we've moved from Yorkshire tea to Sainsbury's own red box or gold box. Can't be doing with wishy washy tea which is why we stayed with Yorkshire for years but I have to say Sainsbury's is equal or better in strength and flavour imo.

changedusername190 · 20/10/2023 12:35

yorkshire gold

UseOfWeapons · 20/10/2023 12:50

Sainsbury's Red Label!😋

LubaLuca · 20/10/2023 12:51

M&S Gold for me, anything else tastes bitter and/or boring.

SandcastleQueen · 20/10/2023 12:53

Glengettie 100%, I'd never heard of it until my Welsh husband introduced me to it, can't go back now! He gets it off Amazon in bulk.

Thesearmsofmine · 20/10/2023 12:55

Yorkshire Tea here or the M&S ones already mentioned.

Gowlett · 20/10/2023 12:59

If you can get your hands on Barry’s Gold Blend. Irish.
Not sure of its availability in various parts of the UK…

urrrgh46 · 20/10/2023 12:59

Depends on where you and your water obvs but our choice is Sainsbury's Assam or for decaf it has to be Twinnings (by far the best). Sainsbury's Kenya is a good alternative. If you like Earl Grey I would suggest trying Twinnings English breakfast.

DoraSpenlow · 20/10/2023 13:10

Mile's West country tea. Don't know if it is country wide.

Sainsbury's Red Label.

UsingChangeofName · 20/10/2023 13:16

Yorkshire Tea

However, I suspect it does depend to some extent on what your water is like.

snowgal · 20/10/2023 13:21

I was a complete Yorkshire Tea fangirl (county of my birth), but I've realised that living in the Highlands it just doesn't suit the soft water. We buy teapigs which are expensive but we ration their use and really value a good brew.

Willow12345 · 20/10/2023 13:22

Yorkshire Gold. I always take a pack away with me on holiday.

ihavespoken · 20/10/2023 13:25

Sainsbury's Assam tea bags. Miles better than Twinings. They have ruined me for all other tea bags Grin

Desecratedcoconut · 20/10/2023 13:26

Yorkshire tea - not the gold one.

marshmallowfinder · 20/10/2023 13:30

I'm still searching! But it totally depends on the water you have in your area. A tea that's decent in one place can be very disappointing in another.

pumpkintits · 20/10/2023 13:49

I can report that the Yorkshire tea is definitely hitting the tea spot 😁 I am on my second cup and have just dunked a few rich tea biccies, the underrated King of Biscuits.

I didn't know that about the water, we are North East based! Maybe this is why the Tetley's tasted rank despite it being a well known and liked brand of tea.

Twinings everyday or Clipper tea but will look out for the Thompsons.

Agreed though OP Twinings are boak, bought this year for work as they were cheap and barely managed to drink them!

I agree the water can make a difference but I use a water filter jug which helps a lot.

Bloomingmagnolia · 20/10/2023 13:55

Yorkshire Gold and M&S gold equally good (especially using London hard water).

Azaeleasinbloom · 20/10/2023 13:56

Glad you have found your regular tea. For Earl Grey, I recommend M&S. I have tested extensively !
