Best teabags?

I bought Tetley and they are awful, I don't know why but they just don't taste like tea!

Can anyone answer the ultimate question of what is the best tea? I don't want to spend a fortune buying lots of different disappointing teas 😁

Twinings are my favourite bagged tea. Yorkshire Tea is probably the most popular but personally, I don’t think it tastes very nice. I have recently made a switch to loose leaf tea though. Not much more time or effort with a stainless steel strainer basket, but the taste is more than worth it.

Twinings strong English Breakfast

I tried a number a few years ago and we always get clipper organic now - we like quite strong ‘builders tea’.

I am also a fan of strong tea, although I have to have mine with 2 sugars! Nothing better than a lovely big mug of sweet tea 😁

I have had Yorkshire tea ages ago but I can't remember what it tasted like!

I'm also partial to an Earl Grey

Yorkshire tea

AdaColeman · 20/10/2023 11:02

I like Clipper Fairtrade teas best, a good strong taste and bright colour.

Purpleavocado · 20/10/2023 11:02

Aldi gold are lovely, and also cheap!

Cowlover89 · 20/10/2023 11:03

Yorkshire tea

BiddyPop · 20/10/2023 11:04

When in the UK or Belgium, I will accept Twinnings English Breakfast.

But the best teabags are absolutely Barry's Gold Blend in the red box!!! From the real capital of Cork!!

icanlovemebetter · 20/10/2023 11:05

Yorkshire normal (green and red) or even gold packaging. It's lovely.

I prefer Indian Assam loose tea as well.

massistar · 20/10/2023 11:09

Glengettie is the best IMO. Not sure if it's only in wales though. My Italian in-laws always buy me Twinings breakfast when I visit, find it really insipid. Could be their crappy water and inability to boil correctly though. No MIL.. it isn't enough to heat it up in the microwave.

heldinadream · 20/10/2023 11:11

Absolutely anything made by these guys. Thompsons. Shiny packets, sold in Tescos, Ocado do them, even Amazon, probably elsewhere. They are the only tea I like now really after trying everything. Better than Twinings AND not as expensive!

Marks and Spencer Extra Strong
Waitrose Gold Extra Strong
Ringtons
Nambarrie (if you can find them).

TheNoodlesIncident · 20/10/2023 11:25

Yorkshire and Yorkshire Gold in our house, we even take a load on holiday with us as you just don't get decent tea abroad. But @heldinadream is right, Thompson's tea is very good indeed. I've bought it in TK Maxx and budget shops.

Lavenderosa · 20/10/2023 11:28

Waitrose English Breakfast but if you like strong tea then Waitrose Assam is great.

rumred · 20/10/2023 11:28

Yorkshire tea is good. Also Thompsons. And lidl gold is surprisingly tasty. And cheap

Oganesson118 · 20/10/2023 11:29

Definitely the Twinings extra strong

EdgeK · 20/10/2023 11:31

Fortnum's do some lovely ones, albeit a bit spendy. (You can also make a loose leaf bespoke to your taste AND you can put your name on the tin!)
But Yorkshire. Yes. Yes. Yes.

EveryKneeShallBow · 20/10/2023 11:33

Yorkshire Gold or Twinings Extra Strong Breakfast. Let it brew, and never, NEVER squeeze the bag. It pulls out all the bitterness, and spoils the rounded tea flavour. I can always tell.

rainbowsparkle28 · 20/10/2023 11:33

The M&S own brand ones in red box I have found good and reasonably priced (am fussy with tea and used to only get branded before, these are only ones I have found that I like own brand!)

Cadburysucks · 20/10/2023 11:57

Sainsburys Kenya tea in the orange box 80 for 1.60. Really good.

DoubleParent · 20/10/2023 12:02

Just the normal red label Aldi ones for me. I can't tell the difference between different teas at all. Same with wine. I'm common as muck, me 😁

JohnThorntonsOverbearingMother · 20/10/2023 12:02

Lyons Gold Blend

pumpkintits · 20/10/2023 12:16

Right, I have battled through bitter winds to Morrisons and picked up a box of Yorkshire Teabags (the red and green box) and the kettle is boiling! Will report back with feedback 😁 I was tempted to try a few more however I have just had the conversation with DH about curbing my unnecessary spending in Morrisons so thought better of it...
