Best teabags?

I bought Tetley and they are awful, I don't know why but they just don't taste like tea!

Can anyone answer the ultimate question of what is the best tea? I don't want to spend a fortune buying lots of different disappointing teas 😁

Yorkshire Gold. I always take a pack away with me on holiday.

Haa haa I travel abroad with mine too (and my Denby mug).

Redlarge · 20/10/2023 13:57

Yorkshire

Stephisaur · 20/10/2023 13:57

Clipper for us. Orange Box if you can get it, the Green Box isn't AS good in my opinion (both are English Breakfast Teas)

Strong without being bitter, an all round crowd pleaser (and it's fairtrade, and the bags are plastic free)

Yorkshire. I don't drink anything else. Will have Twinings if out

Lizzieregina · 20/10/2023 13:59

Barry’s Gold.

I fill my suitcase with it every time I’m on the east side of the pond!

When in the UK or Belgium, I will accept Twinnings English Breakfast.

But the best teabags are absolutely Barry's Gold Blend in the red box!!! From the real capital of Cork!!

Agreed! With Lyons a close second. I was on a work trip in Germany with people from all over Europe and they fell in love with my 'Irish' tea, which I had of course brought with me.

Even Yorkshire Tea tastes like dishwater now.

We have Sainsbury's Extra Strong or failing that Twinings Everyday.

Vettrianofan · 20/10/2023 14:21

Lidl's own brand.

twilightcafe · 20/10/2023 14:25

I like a good, strong cuppa. In order of preference...

  1. Punjana (Thompson's). I have an Amazon subscription to guarantee supplies.
  2. Dorset Tea
  3. Clipper (orange and brown packaging)

No it doesn't!

spiderlight · 20/10/2023 14:34

My ability to taste tea got really messed up by Covid. I was always a TyPhoo addict before, but now I can barely taste it and have converted to Bird & Blend Great British Cuppa, which is pricey but really really lovely and strong. They also do a Builders' Breakfast Brew, which is OK but doesn't quite hit the spot for me.

Again, it depends on your water. It tastes like dishwater here but at my friend's house, it's good.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/10/2023 14:55

Aldi Gold are my favourite. I also like the decaf version for late evening tea. Cheap as chips but surprisingly good.

I know what you mean about Belgium.
Wee wee tea! I am half Belgian so know this lol.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/10/2023 15:06

I have to have decaffeinated 😟. Sainsburys Earl Grey are definitely the best.

Waters good where I'm at thankfully

Yorkshire and M&S GOLD in London.

Normal doesn’t work in our hard water. Worth the extra pence for tea that hits spot.

Absolutely anything made by these guys. Thompsons. Shiny packets, sold in Tescos, Ocado do them, even Amazon, probably elsewhere. They are the only tea I like now really after trying everything. Better than Twinings AND not as expensive!

Absolutely amazing tea!!

Paperpurple · 21/10/2023 00:18

Pukka Elegant English Breakfast is very nice.

freetheunicorn1 · 21/10/2023 00:22

Scottish Blend! But they claim to be blended specially for Scottish water and I am in Scotland so might not be a good recommendation for those outside Scotland.

Haveringagain · 21/10/2023 00:23

Barry's Gold, all the way!

XenoBitch · 21/10/2023 01:30

I quite like Lidl Breakfast tea

Catsmere · 21/10/2023 02:11

Nerada tea, grown in Queensland. Nicest I've ever tasted, and they're big cup/pot bags, so good and strong without having to leave them in the mug too long.

I tried Yorkshire Tea once and was so disappointed, it didn't seem to have much flavour at all.

BiddyPop · 21/10/2023 14:32

I have 3 boxes of 160 teabags of Barry's in my packing for the container for moving to Belgium next month. And an 80bag box for my temp accommodations of 1 month. Im hoping that's enough to get me to my Easter visit home.

treacledan71 · 21/10/2023 14:38

I like my tea milky and not too strong. Tried them all and morrisons red ones are my favourite together with lidl. We have yorkshire tea at work which is nice but only dip it in.
