I know a lot of astrophysicists. They are very clever, but not all that 😉

I applied for a job as a Knowledge Agent once. I loved that job title.

CFO/coo/ceo do not impress me much <shakira>

I'm from the corporate world and I know they are blagging it like the rest of us

That’s exactly how I feel. Sure they’re clever but usually their face just was a good fit and they’re absolutely winging it ime. It’s the issue of seeing and knowing too much!

It depends, @pancakeontoast - are you talking about jobs or job titles? Because there are lots of very impressive jobs with not that impressive job titles. But im a civil servant and often come across some really exciting job titles, that are actually quite routine jobs. For instance, i once met someone with the job title "Head of Space". In fact, the job was a kind of trade promotion type job for satellite and related industries and didn't involve ruling over vast swathes of the cosmos 😅

I love some civil service job titles - I saw one once for Head of Piracy in the maritime directorate at DfT (I think they've now changed it to Anti-Piracy). Another one, DEFRA this time, was Head of Horticulture and Potatoes.

Mine have all been relatively boring 😆

Dancer. A very modest mum at the school gate said this. In subsequent conversations turns out she’d been on broadway. That impressed me.

noelleux · 14/10/2023 21:15

I’m a chief of staff. Sounds cool, actually means I spend a lot more time than I want dealing with other people’s problems.

Madam would make my eyes widen. One has to wonder how many of the above mentioned will have visited her premises.

Unless 'xxxxxxxx' turns out to be a small country, then it's definitely knobby!
