I appologise in advance if I'm posting this in wrong place. I hoping I can get some advice.

I just had a tesco delivery, when I was taking food in to house my son was helping me, he suddenly noticed there was a cat inside delivery van where customers food is stored and it was walking all over another customers food.

We told the delivery driver and pointed out the cat, at first he didn't seem that bothered even joked that it happens often. Eventually he slowly walked back to van and instead of trying to get cat out quickly, he tried to stroke it, cat eventually jumped out and ran away.

I'm pretty sure it didn't get near my food but feel sorry for the other customers who have no idea a cat has walked all over there food.

Should I contact Tesco's and say something or just leave it.

What would you do.

Was all the food wrapped/bagged/in tins?

FannyFifer · 14/10/2023 19:50

Surely all the food would be wrapped & folk would wash/peel veg etc.
I wouldn't think anything more about it really.

Oldthyme · 14/10/2023 19:51

I’d
Forget it and
move on.

I'd be livid. I'm allergic to cats, as many people are.

Exactly. Don’t fuss

LakeTiticaca · 14/10/2023 19:52

If its wrapped and the cat didn't piss or shit on it it'll be fine

DisplayPurposesOnly · 14/10/2023 19:52

I would do nothing, because nothing needs doing.

PurplePansy05 · 14/10/2023 19:52

Food was wrapped and if it wasn't people need to wash it anyway.

You do realise how dirty delivery vans and crates are, even if you can't see it 😂

You are being ridiculous, OP.

Not everything is. If they're like ASDA they'll be using minimal bags and a lot of loose vegetables come unbagged

Changethetoner · 14/10/2023 19:53

If it was a rat, I might be stressed over it.

DrinkingFreshMangoJuice · 14/10/2023 19:53

And yes I wash everything before eating. But cats fur gets in everything, including the bags the shopping comes in.

Simonjt · 14/10/2023 19:54

I buy vegetables, they will have been walked on by mice, rabbits, foxes, deer, dogs and cats. Unless you regularly wash your veg with soapy water it will have animal foot germs on, which are harmless.

Myhusbandearns150k · 14/10/2023 19:55

where do you think supermarkets and suppliers store their products. A cat is the least of our problems.

Smartiepants79 · 14/10/2023 19:55

So?
I would be trying to stoke it also. It would probably be my cat! 😆
The food is wrapped? In boxes and tins?
Or will be washed/peeled/boiled before anyone eats it? Can’t think or many things that it would actually matter that an animal had stepped on it?
You know many warehouses will have pigeons etc in them?

MollyBunny154 · 14/10/2023 19:55

These days food delivered isnt put in shopping bags it's put loose in to crates. That's why I was concerned. None of my shopping was in bags .

I thought maybe I was over thinking it but what if the cat had wee all over the food.

I know the cat he is a bit of a menace.just thought it was unhygienic.

You do know that food grows in the ground and is fertilised with animal crap?

BebbanburgIsMine · 14/10/2023 19:56

I'd be more worried about the cat being lost, wouldn't bother me at all about him walking over any food.

Unithorn · 14/10/2023 19:57

I mean the crates are rank for a start, and the hygiene of some people in shops who will have man handled the food is worse than a cat. I'd suspect anything loose in nio packaging people would wash anyway, and in the unlikely even packaging has been ripped etc people will get refunds; this wouldn't concern me to be honest.

loseweightpleasegod · 14/10/2023 19:57

Rats and mice walk all over your food in the shops and warehouses.

EfficientlyDecluttering · 14/10/2023 19:59

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest

Smartiepants79 · 14/10/2023 19:59

Cats don’t just wee all over the place!
They might have muddy feet, that’s the only issue o can think of.

Where do you think your food comes from OP?
Hint : Look down...

Caffeineislife · 14/10/2023 20:00

I can guarantee a lot more and a lot worse have walked (and more) on your food than a cat.

3dogsandarabbit · 14/10/2023 20:00

Would a cat even be able to get in the crates, I thought they were all stacked on top of one another.
