On!! We have ufh and due to bad builder's have a thicker screed to heat we turned ours on today as it'll take a while to heat - 13 here indoors West Mids.

It's already October break for some of us😂

Crack on!!!! Get that heating going 😂.

One more week to go here and I will be right behind you- boots out and heating on!

treacledan71 · 14/10/2023 22:42

No but I am on the sofa with quilt and hot water bottle.

Lonesomefetter · 14/10/2023 22:44

Cracked and put it on for an hour tonight, feels much better.

ListenLinda · 14/10/2023 22:44

Dropped to 16.5 in the kitchen now & forecast to be 1/2 degrees in the morninh, so I suspect it will be turned on when I get up.

I live in a mid terrace (but empty on one side) high ceiling, no cavity insulation, victorian terrace. When it’s cold in here, its really bloody cold.
thankfully my kids dont ever seem to feel like cold, and do prefer to be cooler, will never wear socks and DD hates jumpers. But i’m no martyr so if i’m cold it’s going on. DH wants to hold out until November, but I don’t think he’a going to make it with the way he has turned himself into a human burrito with the blankets on the sofa 😂

ODFOx · 14/10/2023 22:48

I had a fleece on today, and socks, for the first time since before the summer.
I'm about to go to sleep under a summer weight duvet with the window open so haven't felt the need for heating yet.

Tumbleweed101 · 14/10/2023 22:51

Off but I'm chilly now and under a blanket that isn't being massively effective.

I did have windows open to air the house this morning and all my children moaned that it was too cold lol.

I'm in perimenopause so running a bit warmer than the rest of my family.

Shewhobecamethesun · 14/10/2023 22:55

Heating off however I have dug out the heated airer that provides a bit of warmth in the room

Out of interest, what is the temperature outside where you are? It has just dipped to 4 degrees here according to my outdoor thermometer - and it supposed to go down to about 1 degree. My house was 14 degrees before I gave in and boosted the heating

My phone says it's 7 outside. Living room temp 19.9 at the moment.

dementedpixie · 14/10/2023 13:05

I never turn it off but control it by a timer and a thermostat which is currently sitting at 16⁰C. It has kicked in a few times as it has got colder outside

We do this too. Though ours is 17°.

Toddler101 · 14/10/2023 22:59

No way! My bedroom temp last night was 21.8 on our groegg so Def no need for heating yet! I'm only just in my 3/4 sleeve t-shirts in the day 😆

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 14/10/2023 23:12

Can we make it a condition that if anyone posts on here you must say at least where you are and what sort of housing . It's all very well saying you are in flip flops and the windows are wide open , you could be in the Bahamas for all we know 😁.
Also it's really annoying when people fail to understand the fear of putting the heating on because of being scared of the bills .

Diversion · 14/10/2023 23:13

2 years of hot flushes due to menopause and I have finally given in and am sleeping under an actual quilt. Prior to this I had a thin blanket, although I do still have a fan on at night. No oil heating on but have lit the log burners tonight for a few hours, mostly due to the fact that the doors downstairs are sticking and I have 2 clothes airers full of washing which need to be dried.

Sparkleshine21 · 14/10/2023 23:18

North west England, 5 degrees here in the morning and 3 throughout night. Had it on for two hours when we woke up and then it went off. We do sleep with an electric blanket and a dog to keep us warm so no need for heating at night!

Berninaa · 15/10/2023 08:33

1 degree C here this morning. Dropped to 17 degrees in the house so my heating came on.

bungletru · 15/10/2023 08:34

Heating on. Have to, we have a baby!

PuppyMonkey · 15/10/2023 08:37

We too have succumbed this morning - 2 degrees outside and 16 in. Just been in a toasty bathroom, bliss!

Seaitoverthere · 15/10/2023 08:42

SW here and just moved into Edwardian house. Been off so far but forecast was for 4 degrees this morning so thought I would need to turn it on this morning. Haven’t needed to yet as 19 degrees in bedroom and sun shining so will warm it up.

Rollercoaster1920 · 15/10/2023 09:07

I'm going to use more heating this year. Last year was very frugal but seemed to suffer with mould more due to reduced heating.

43ontherocksporfavor · 15/10/2023 09:08

Midlands. 52 and quite warm all the time. DH put it on for a hour last night ‘just to test it’ but I was happy with. a wool throw over me. It’s off again now and I slept with the window wide open as usual. Live in an old house.

Mumoftwotoddlers · 15/10/2023 09:14

2°c this morning so heating has gone on. Was hoping to avoid it until at least mid November but it's absolutely freezing! Our property gets damp really easily so we have no choice but to run the heating and dehumidifier almost constantly when it's cold

Morphle · 15/10/2023 09:16

We’re off. But only cos we’re having building works done and it’d all just go out the back. Not sure how much longer we can keep it off though

Crumpetdisappointment · 15/10/2023 09:16

i thought about it,yesterday, but i just went and got changed into more appropriate clothes
i live in SE

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 15/10/2023 09:19

SW London, winter duvet on last night and heating came on this morning. Forecast for today is nice and sunny and sitting room (where the thermostat is) faces south so probably won't be on tonight.

Beezknees · 15/10/2023 09:22

Not on yet, I live in a top floor flat so it retains heat well. I was plenty warm last night in pyjamas and dressing gown.
