Currently team off at the moment. Meant to be 2c overnight, so I could be tempted tomorrow to give in (normally me who gives in first here), but then I'll be working and what heating they do have is totally inadequate will hang on.

PortalooSunset · 14/10/2023 20:00

Thermostat here is set to 16, house hasn't got cold enough for the heating to come on yet.

I've had my electric blanket on for an hour or so a couple of evenings though.

S72 · 14/10/2023 20:06

Off. Probably won't put it on for another month or so.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/10/2023 20:07

Off

Sat here in a T shirt and pants as I've had a glass of wine and I'm BLOODY BOILING

YAY FUCKING MENOPAUSE YOU FUCKING WANKER OF A DUCK MINGE

Taytocrisps · 14/10/2023 20:10

Most definitely on. It's 6 degrees atm.

Bellyblueboy · 14/10/2023 20:25

I have put mine on tonight for the first time. It is 5 degrees outside and 14 degrees inside according to my thermometer. Heating is on for half an hour.

hasn’t been on since April so also wanted to check it still works!!!

YoongiMarryMe · 14/10/2023 20:31

I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I have one cup of tea and I’m roasting! I’ve just had a hot dinner so am now on the sofa with the fan on as I was feeling so hot and sweaty! Well it saves on my heating bills Grin

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 14/10/2023 20:35

We normally like to be quite tough and hold out 'til at least end Oct but yes I live just north of central belt and it has been put on for morning showers brrr as don't like getting out cold. The nights are getting really cold and we will soon have frosts , possibly sometime next week .
In saying all that it is a fairly new house , good windows and insulation .

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 14/10/2023 21:01

Mines been on and off for the last few weeks, although mainly just to dry my work clothes. I have put it on longer the last couple of days though cos it has definitely gotten colder

Giggorata · 14/10/2023 21:04

A small fire of odd bits of wood in the wood burner tonight for the first time this year, just to take the chill off the radiators.
Also first wearing of vest today, for our woodland ramble

Chipsahoy · 14/10/2023 21:05

2c right now. Plenty of heat and wood burner for several weeks not.
NE Scotland

Vettrianofan · 14/10/2023 21:34

Yes it's been on since mid September.

Polis · 14/10/2023 21:45

Ours boiler is lit but it hasn’t kicked in yet. We do have a fire in the sitting room though.

Off!!! No heating until October half term.

Wear a jumper
Put on socks
Get a blanket
Have a glass of wine
Eat something spicy

😂

I am not tight, I can afford it but refuse to believe it is winter until then. FYI, I will also be wearing flip flops until then too!

It's already October break for some of us😂

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 14/10/2023 22:11

Hoping to hang on until November.

Not noticed the thermostat go below 20 in the living room yet, and heating is set to 18.5 when it's on.

Getting cardigans and hoodies out though.

HideTheCroissants · 14/10/2023 22:15

My heating is controlled by a thermostat and timer - I never turn it “off”. The radiators will heat up at 7am in August if the temperature inside goes below 18 degrees! So far I don’t believe the radiators have needed to come on. It is currently 19 degrees in my living room with no need for the radiators and I am sweating a t shirt. If I feel cold I will get a jumper.

kitsuneghost · 14/10/2023 22:17

Off. Our thermostat still says 16

Doggymummar · 14/10/2023 22:18

Set at 18 degrees, not got cold enough yet still 21 in the room with the thermostat

Out of interest, what is the temperature outside where you are? It has just dipped to 4 degrees here according to my outdoor thermometer - and it supposed to go down to about 1 degree. My house was 14 degrees before I gave in and boosted the heating

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/10/2023 22:22

I'm in the SE. It's chilly outside but no way am I putting the heating on. We'd have to have snow on the ground for that. Cardi, Oodie, socks, slippers.

OldTinHat · 14/10/2023 22:23

Off! Just closed the windows and have popped a cardigan on. I'm in the SE though so not chilly here yet!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 14/10/2023 22:27

Had to have a boost tonight for first time. Dropped to 15 jn babies room

pinkfondu · 14/10/2023 22:36

Off, just made tea and crossed my mind for the first time!

But I wear a cardie, socks and slippers anyway. It still isn't warm enough where I live to not put heating on.

The assumption that people haven't put extra layers on is just silly.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 14/10/2023 22:38

Off It's still 18 in my flat even though it's 8 outside( Wiltshire)
One positive of the menopause means my internal thermostat has broken and I'm always roasting!
