TORY VOTERS: Keir has a message for you....

He said: “If you are a Conservative voter who despairs of this, if you look in horror at the descent of your party into the murky waters of populism and conspiracy, with no argument for economic change; if you feel our children need a party that conserves, that fights for our union, our environment, the rule of law, family life, the careful bond between this generation and the next – then let me tell you, Britain already has one. And you can join it – it’s this Labour party.”

Wow, MN has really been taken over by ignorant bigots.

I object to being called an ignorant bigot for supporting Reform UK

Shows how much you know

May be look at Wales and the councils going bankrupt in other places being currently Labour.

This!

Cowlover89 · 13/10/2023 09:41

I won't be voting at all. They're all the same

brujarosada · 13/10/2023 09:50

I can't believe that anyone who cares about human rights or the future of this country would vote for the Tories again under any circumstances 😅. Unless you get some kind of kick from lining the pockets of their cronies?

This thing about gender politics is like a mania - it's an important issue, but surely not more important than literally anything and everything else????

I’m actually in despair at how to vote. I don’t feel I can waste my vote but all parties are a shower of shit, so what can I do?

Yep same here.

alwaysonadiet1 · 13/10/2023 10:04

Time for proportional representation so we have more than two parties to choose from.

dutysuite · 13/10/2023 10:07

I’ve voted for several different parties over the years including Labour, but I won’t be voting Labour this time for various reasons - the last straw for me was ULEZ.

But then you end up with endless coalitions which have just as many problems.

Exactly this. I live in Wales and Labour have been in power here since we had the Senedd and things just keep getting worse and worse. They keep blaming Westminster but the truth is they've been in power for so long in Wales that Westminster has been run by different parties and yet still no changes.

TeenagersAngst · 13/10/2023 10:12

@SharonEllis many of those things happened during a growing global economy. There was plenty of money to go around. Inflation reduced around the world, not just in the UK and not directly due to a Labour government.

Kier Starmer is in a really tough spot because he knows he can't do what Blair and Brown did with the economy he is inheriting. The worry is, he really doesn't have firm plans for growth.

I won't vote for labour because they hate everything about me and my family. But I'm not exactly inclined to vote for anyone else either. Frankly I'd emigrate if I could.

Highandlows · 13/10/2023 10:14

Discussing immigration is for bigots only. Well, hopefully you will learn something soon.

ULEZ was introduced by Boris Johnson...Hmm

Well, as a country that has trampled all over the world plundering other countries' resources, a country that has amassed its wealth on the backs of slaves - a country that has always relied and continues to rely heavily on immigrant labour...I would just be quiet about immigration.

The expansion was Khan’s decision.

The expansion was Khan’s decision.

And a good thing too! Everyone claims to care about the environment (soon you won't be able to not care!) except if they have to change anything about their precious lifestyles.

I think a generation has grown up taking the following Labour achievements for granted, but they didnt just happen & they wouldn't have happened without the vision & hard political graft of the Labour government. So you may not like the minimum wage, or civil partnerships or better staffed hospitals & low waiting lists. Fine. But just dont pretend they are 'all the same'.

Longest period of sustained low inflation since the 60s & Low mortgage rates.
Introduced the National Minimum Wage
Over 14,000 more police in England and Wales.
Cut overall crime by 32 per cent.
Record levels of literacy and numeracy in schools.
Young people achieving some of the best ever results at 14, 16, and 18.
Funding for every pupil in England has doubled.
Employment is at its highest level ever.
85,000 more nurses.
32,000 more doctors.
Brought back matrons to hospital wards.
Devolved power to the Scottish Parliament.
Devolved power to the Welsh Assembly.
Paternity leave of 2 weeks for the first time.
NHS Direct
Gift aid
Restored city-wide government to London.
Record number of students in higher education.
Child benefit up 26 per cent since 1997.
Delivered 2,200 Sure Start Children’s Centres.
Introduced the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
£200 winter fuel payment to pensioners & up to £300 for over-80s.
Good Friday Agreement/restored devolved government to Northern Ireland
Over 36,000 more teachers in England and 274,000 more support staff and teaching assistants.
24 days paid holiday for f/t workers
A million pensioners lifted out of poverty.
600,000 children lifted out of relative poverty.
Introduced child tax credit giving more money to parents.
Scrapped Section 28 and introduced Civil Partnerships.
Brought over 1 million social homes up to standard.
Inpatient waiting lists down by over half a million since 1997.
Banned fox hunting.
Cleanest rivers, beaches, drinking water and air since before the industrial revolution.
Free TV licences for over-75s.
Banned fur farming and the testing of cosmetics on animals.
Free breast cancer screening for all women aged between 50-70.
Free off peak local bus travel for over-60s.
New Deal – helped over 1.8 million people into work.
Over 3 million child trust funds have been started.
Free eye test for over 60s.
More than doubled the number of apprenticeships.
Free entry to national museums and galleries.
Overseas aid budget more than doubled.
Heart disease deaths down by 150,000 and cancer deaths down by 50,000.
Cut long-term youth unemployment by 75 per cent.
Free nursery places for every three and four-year-olds.
Free fruit for most four to six-year-olds at school.

And very very little on that list benefits working people with no kids.

milenat · 13/10/2023 10:36

Notanotherhousepost · 13/10/2023 10:29

Sorry but that is just rubbish!

But I would be interested to know what your priorities are as a 'working person with no kids'?

Works both ways but I guess you won't see the ignorant comments from the other side 🤔

BloodyHellKen · 13/10/2023 10:48

I wouldn't call myself a Conservative voter, having only voted for them once in >35 years but even I think Keir Starmer has got a damn cheek coming out with nonsense about populism and conspiracy after the way Labour have embraced identity politics, taking the knee and TRAs over the last decade.

It only works both ways if 'the other side' actually makes ignorant and bigoted comments.

Agree with this

@SharonEllis surely you look forward not back? The world is pretty different today. Or look at Wales as it’s current

Londonhasfallen · 13/10/2023 11:03

Keir and Rishi are the cheeks of the same arse. Both are WEF puppets as well, so it does not matter who you vote for. Same 💩only in a different wrapper.

BeforetheFlood · 13/10/2023 11:09

If he spent less time and energy slagging off the Tories and more on actually working out decent, rigorous, joined-up policies that stand up to scrutiny I might vote for him.

He needs to step up and show himself as a leader, not a kid in the playground going 'eeerrr Tories are stinky poo-heads. Join my gang!'
