Poverty levels in the UK are “simply not acceptable” and the government is violating international law, the United Nations’ poverty envoy has said ahead of a visit to the country this week, when he will urge ministers to increase welfare spending.
Olivier De Schutter, the UN’s special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, cited research showing universal credit payments of £85 a week for single adults over 25 were “grossly insufficient” and described the UK’s main welfare system as “a leaking bucket”.

I was listening to Pet Classics on Classic FM in order to calm my poor cat 🐈. It has been working, but now it's finished and they have Jeremy CHunt on. Cat has gone back into hiding and I am swearing at the radio.

Is he contemplating running for leadership again? 🤔

pointythings · 05/11/2023 21:57

@IClaudine we had the local fireworks display Friday night and we handled it by being there so they could all sit on us if they wanted (formerly feral ladyship doesn't turn a hair at fireworks, the others get anxious). Not sure how they'd cope with Jeremy Misnomer on top of all the banging.

L1ttledrummergirl · 05/11/2023 22:01

I've been watching the sas programme on channel 4. I've spent most of it wishing harm on cockinhand, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of tonight's.

Zonder · 05/11/2023 23:13

Well if Dowden says it, I think we all know what that means!

RafaistheKingofClay · 05/11/2023 23:16

Not sure how he managed to say ‘we have a zero tolerance policy’ with a straight face.

DuncinToffee · 05/11/2023 23:35

I think this is yet another one Angry

Zonder · 06/11/2023 07:12

Who is it?

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2023 08:03

I don't know

OP posts:
IClaudine · 06/11/2023 08:06

So it isn't one of the ones we already know about? It is hard to keep track.

The government misrepresenting data? Surely not? This must be a mistake.

The government covering up running out of ventilators in Jan 2021.

Well. Am shocked. And definitely unsurprised.

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2023 10:05

They got all the big calls right

IClaudine · 06/11/2023 10:11

They got all the big lies right.

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2023 10:13

I don't think they have even managed that

OP posts:
RafaistheKingofClay · 06/11/2023 11:14

So much for Boris’ operation ‘last gasp’ ventilator challenge to get companies who’ve never made ventilators to make them.

Anyone who died from this is a direct result of that stupid reopening before Christmas to appease the right of the party and then shutting down at Christmas because of the inevitable consequences.

Is this another one or do you think it’s one of the ones we already know about?

Its got to be a different one, because all the previous ones have been covered up.
