Principles? Didn't know they had any.

So its ok for a minister to advocate for girls having less education so they make more babies and for the Home Secretary to go off on various rants, but not for a minister to suggest a ghastly war be brought to an end.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/10/2023 17:40

Well yes. There’s a line in the sand and that’s clearly crossed it.

Tories know what a woman is and they should know their place. At home.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/10/2023 17:43

Is that bit about ‘collective responsibility’ what no 10 actually said. Is that our policy position now, that collective responsibility is fine in warfare.

No wonder they want out of the ECHR.

Does collective responsibility also apply when your boss the Prime Minister knowingly lies to parliament and you stand by him knowing he is lying?

Absolutely yes.

The electorate understand this even if the tories don't.

Not totally sure that Halfon realises what Kay Burley has got him to admit here. I presume his intention wasn’t to go on an accuse Israel of taking 200 British citizens hostage.

It's not even winter...

🚨 BREAKING: @nottmhospitals has tonight declared a critical incident with 220 people in its A&E and 120 waiting to be admitted. Patients are in ambulances who cannot be safely off loaded:

Far right Americans who don't have English as their first language are often communists.

Did anyone see the DHSC poster telling parents to get nasal vaccine which gad to be hastily reworded because it strongly suggested it protected against flu and Covid?

Shhh…. don’t mention it.

I wonder what would happen if it got made public every time we went into OPEL 4. It used to be a rarity. Now it happens at least once a month. Or at least so often we’ve stopped getting pop up alerts on our computer screens.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/10/2023 20:24

Would it be terribly wrong to point out that technically we haven’t totally completed brexit yet because we’re still rolling over the customs border checks? The ones that would cause inflation/be totally mad depending on which Tory MP you are listening to.

It would disrupt the monologue about Keir's beer, probably ruin the atmosphere.

Shafi thinks they were Johnson's words but Sunak is very much part of it. No wonder he 'lost' his whatsapps

Oh yes, sorry I've just seen a clip of that bit of the hearing.

(Not entirely convincing testimony was it!)

Cain says 10 days between deciding to announce lock down and doing it! 😮
In which time there was the football match and Cheltenham raves
I'm shocked!

Also BoJo was on holiday for 2 weeks in March, and in general "noone knew who was driving the response"

I think I'm starting to worry this is just going to get shrugged off as "Johnson, what do you expect". It feels like the equivalent of corporate manslaughter

RafaistheKingofClay · 31/10/2023 11:28

I’ve been saying Johnson should be prosecuted for something like corporate manslaughter for years. This wasn’t Johnson being out of his depth or reacting badly this was deliberate.

Itvwas an absolute failure to even attempt to fo the very basics in a time of crisis while knowing that people would die because of it. Despite what was being said about caving into lockdown advocates it was clear at the time he was appealing to sceptics and was only ever forced into action at the last possible moment to avoid absolute catastrophe. It’s why the messaging and guidance was so muddled and why the rules never applied to them if they thought they could get away with it.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 31/10/2023 11:31

Did he say why there was 10 days between taking the decision and announcing it?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 31/10/2023 11:37

Was the delay so he could get his holiday in?

No shit Sherlock

Former Downing Street Director of Comms Lee Cain on Boris Johnson's handling of the pandemic: "It was the wrong crisis for this prime minister's skills set."

None of this is a surprise but it is still shocking to hear it said out loud

Did you see Baroness Hallett told Cai to reword that in 'plain English' . And then he basically said the PM wasn't the right man for the job.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2023 11:59

No, I missed that, will have a look for a longer clip.
