Terrible chips and stuff fried in palm oil.
Nothing else.

mrsfollowill · 06/10/2023 00:58

Chinese or Pizza. Other than that we have 173 places that will deliver to us on 'Just Eat' Grin

975zyx · 06/10/2023 00:59

I’d be very hungry. The nearest is about an hour’s walk away, some of it unlit roads with no pavement.

Delphigirl · 06/10/2023 01:01

Same. I’d be walking over an hour

1daughterand3sons · 06/10/2023 01:02

We've got a selection of takeaways up on the high road nearly every shop is some sort of food shop. 5 minute walk away.
Kfc
Dominoes
Pizza hut
Indian takeaway
Sri Lankan takeaway
Chicken cottage
Kebab shop
Peri peri chicken shop
Fat crab - they do seafood
There's a more but not sure what they sell

XenoBitch · 06/10/2023 01:03

There is a local one that had very poor hygiene rating, but they do the most amazing chilli chips.
Also, a kebab place that does a great lamb shish.

lawoi · 06/10/2023 01:05

Venezuelan street food. London zone 2, with a huge variety of street food and restaurant options within 10 mins walk. Can get pretty much anything within walking distance.

listsandbudgets · 06/10/2023 01:06

Benefits of living in a big city:

Chinese
About 20 curry places
Turkish
Lebanese
Syrian
chippy
Fried chicken
burger shop
Thai
Pizza
Various dessert places
Korean

And no doubt some I've missed.

There is a Japanese I like but sadly it's not really in walking distance so it has to be deliveroo.

dianamoonyan · 06/10/2023 01:09

Walking distance we have a Chinese and an Indian, I prefer Indian food but in this instance the Chinese takeaway is better. I would normally drive to either my favourite Indian or Japanese place.

sashh · 06/10/2023 01:12

The closest is a Chinese, but within walking distance, a carvery (not sure it counts but you can take it away) one Indian, one Bengali, a fish and chip shop, a greasy spoon cafe, a coffee shop, Greggs, Dominos, another two Chinese, they are on opposite sides of the same road, Subway and a McDonalds.

I can't walk to them but my carer can push me in my chair to them.

Just looked at Just Eat, 194 places deliver but that includes the ones that I have listed.

I can get carribean, Persian, cakes, afro Caribbean (that's how they list themselves) Italian and Thai and loads of kebab, burger, fish shops.
I can also get meals on wheels if I order before 9am.

Moomoomo · 06/10/2023 02:35

None! An hours walk down a country road to a Chinese or an hour and a half through a forest for chippy.

SaltyOne · 06/10/2023 03:42

None. We can't get deliveries, either. 😕

EggTheParrot · 06/10/2023 03:56

Curry
Pizza
Ice cream and pancakes
Pub food
Chinese x3

This is in a very tiny village south of Manchester

GigiAnnna · 06/10/2023 05:21

Chippy
Chinese
Indian
KFC
Other fried chicken shops
Kebabs
Burgers
Pizza
Waffles/pancakes
Mcdonalds

It’s fascinating how few people on MN live in the countryside! We have zero shops commutable by foot, and we’re 7 miles from a city. Just Eat has a couple of places that might or might not deliver depending on what mood they’re in…

Poontangle · 06/10/2023 05:30

Forty minutes walk across fields for a shit kebab. No deliveries.

headcheffer · 06/10/2023 05:30

Weirdly, my location is "semi rurual". I'm surrounded by fields, and a wood, and don't have pavement to connect us to the main road. But within 15 mins walk I can reach a main road that has an Indian, a chippy, kebab shop and McDonald's. Best of both worlds 😆

What's your definition of a very tiny village? Because it doesn't sound tiny to me!

Until last year we lived in a small village where there was a curry restaurant that did takeaways.

We now live in a small market town that has a few takeaways - pizza, Chinese, chippie etc but none of the chain restaurants - so no McDonalds, KFC, Domino's etc.

Musiclover234 · 06/10/2023 05:34

We have a chippy round the corner after that it’s the pub or half hour walk.
Lots of choice on Uber etc though.

We’re 8 miles from a town and similar situation to you regarding deliveries - just one pizza place and one south Asian who deliver if they’re not busy. Otherwise there’s a pizza van (Fridays only) in the next village which is a 2 mile walk along the canal.

Goldencup · 06/10/2023 05:35

Mc Donalds, pizza, several chinese, fish and chips but my favourite is kokorro- I love it (20 minute walk- does that still count ?)

NoraLuka · 06/10/2023 05:42

There’s a bakery that does sandwiches at lunchtime, 15 minutes walk. Other than that, there’s several pizza and kebab shops that take half an hour to cycle to, I’ve never attempted walking there!

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 06/10/2023 05:42

We have one takeaway within walking distance. It’s an Indian takeaway, but they also sell pizzas and have just started selling a small assortment of desserts. It’s a very odd mix, but to order anything on just eat is a pain here because its rural.

There used to be a chip van that came around on a weekend, but it’s not been seen for months

TheOutlaws · 06/10/2023 05:45

@artG I think we live in the same place.

@Goldencup Is Kokoro a chain? We have one in our nearest city.

PinkMoscatoLover · 06/10/2023 05:49

Where do you guys live where takeaways don’t deliver?!

Walking distance for me is:

Chinese literally across the road
Fish & Chips across the road
Chicken & Chips across the road
Mcdonalds around the corner
KFC down the road
Thai place down the road

There’s so many more but I can’t think!
