I have a McDonalds and a curry place both just under a mile away. I've never been to the curry place. I think there's a chippy a similar distance but it's not one that i've ever used.

mindutopia · 06/10/2023 10:47

Literally, the veg patch. 😂Our closest actual take-away would probably be a 2.5-3 hour walk? Unless you count the pub, which I'm not sure does any sort of takeaway, and then it would be 20 minutes?

And no, nothing delivers to us.

RabbitsRock · 06/10/2023 10:50

Domino’s although that’s a fairly long walk, as is KFC & McDonald’s. Much nearer is a good chippy & a pretty decent Chinese. Again, Indian is a fair walk but you could do it.

DelilahBucket · 06/10/2023 10:54

Italian is just a minute away. For a 25 minute walk we could also have Chinese, fish and chips, Indian, Turkish, Indian, pizzas/kebabs/burgers/fried chicken. Not that most of them are any good. The Italian is and we have a good Chinese but beyond that it's mostly places set up for money laundering or just food poisoning waiting to happen.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/10/2023 11:07

We have got a high street just down our road and through a jitty. There is a good Chinese, kebab house, Pizza Hut, domino's and papa johns just the other end. Bit further on is a curry house, Nando's and a bit in the other direction is a chippy

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/10/2023 11:08

And subway and greggs. Forgot about them

Pugfin · 06/10/2023 11:09

2 x Pizza
Italian
2 x chippys
Chinese
Kebab van & shop
Burger place

All independents except Dominos (which is the only one which delivers).

Ginmonkeyagain · 06/10/2023 11:14

How are we definining walking distance? 15 mins walk I have

2x Thai
2x Fried Chicken
3x Pizza
2x Chinese
Sushi
Indian
Burgers
5xSandwiches/coffee
2x fish and chips
2x Vietnamese

Silkiebunny · 06/10/2023 11:22

Large village - Chinese which also does fish and chips, Indian, kebab van, village pub also does takeaway versions of some of its restaurant meals.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/10/2023 11:26

There's an Italian about 2.5 km away in the next village which I presume does takeout but I've never tried it. Too far to walk and bring back hot food, if I was hungry and the cupboard was bare I'd go a little further and buy something from the co-op.

Gymmum82 · 06/10/2023 11:28

Nothing. There are no takeaways within 1 hours walk by which time the food would be cold walking home.

Lovelydovey · 06/10/2023 11:36

Within 2 mins walk: kebab, chippy, fried chicken, pizza, Chinese and lovely little cafe.

Within 5 mins: as above plus greasy spoon, Indian x 3, another chjnese, another 3 pizza, another 2 kebabs and fried chicken x 3.

Within 15 mins: loads of the above, plus Mexican, Thai, Korean, Caribbean, Vietnamese, Greek and more

MotherofWhippets81 · 06/10/2023 11:39

Nothing within walking distance down country lanes but since we've moved we do have a fairly good choice that will deliver as we're closer to the nearest town.

jay55 · 06/10/2023 11:51

East London, have options for almost everything within a mile. No Burger King though which I find fascinating as when I grew up in a boring town Burger King was one of the few options we did have.

Anyway with all the choice I'd still get a McDonald's, unless it's street food Friday and then I'd get Caribbean food, there are Caribbean options in walking distance but not as good as the food truck that visits once a month.

aintnospringchicken · 06/10/2023 13:22

Within walking distance we have
Chinese
Indian
Himalayan
Thai
Pizza
McDonald's
KFC
Five Guys
Bread meats bread
Spanish tapas

Jericha · 06/10/2023 13:28

2 x really good chippies in opposite directions
1 x really poor Chinese food takeaway

Luckily the good one delivers Blush

PoseasRadicalActuallyMisogynistic · 06/10/2023 13:30

None, they’re all a bit terrible

SausageAndEggSandwich · 06/10/2023 13:32

We have one chippy round the corner. To be fair it's a good one. But anything else is a couple of miles away

Not like where we used to live until the summer, could get all kinds of food on the main road.

Liv999 · 06/10/2023 13:42

Tiny village, one chippy just around the corner, food is pretty bad, chips are awful, but they do surprisingly good pizzas, across the road we have a really nice Chinese, that's it

GunboatDiplomacy · 06/10/2023 13:44

Curry, vegetarian curry, fish and chips, ramen, cheap kebabs, posh kebabs, Lebanese, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Korean, Japanese pancakes, fried chicken of various qualities, pizza of various qualities, Colombian, Brazilian, Moroccan, burgers, Vietnamese, pasta, Thai, cheap and cheerful Chinese, Greek Souvlaki, Jamaican etc etc etc

The one thing we don't have is a good Chinese takeaway/restaurant - they seem to be a dying breed: all but one of our locals have shut over the last twenty years.

If you asked me to pick for this evening I think I'd go ramen.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/10/2023 13:53

Nothing :( We live on a newbuild development with no shops or any amenities at all.

BloodandGlitter · 06/10/2023 14:10

Within 10 minutes walk we have
4 chip shops
3 chinese takeaways
Papa Johns
KFC
Mcdonalds
Jacket potato van
Burger shop
2 chicken shops
Kebab/Pizza/Burger shop.
Pizza place.

Lightningrain · 06/10/2023 14:13

None for us either. There isn’t any takeaway within walking distance (not to get back home with food still hot anyway).

I do sometimes miss my uni days of having hundreds of takeaway options available but much prefer the benefits of living in the countryside.

CattingAbout · 06/10/2023 14:20

We have a wanky wood-fired pizza van that parks within walking distance once a fortnight. Nothing else walkable so I guess it'd have to be that!

Bubbles254 · 06/10/2023 14:23

An Indian which is lovely and a pub which, since covid, does some takeaway meals. We are very rural and walk to both is through the woods, only takes 5 min. Feel very lucky to live somewhere beautiful yet have good food close by.
