Right now, after 19 years, I'm bowing out of MN.

I've dipped in and out, many names, banned once for suggesting kids with severe educational problems won't make great health care professionals; iCod etc etc.

But. Seriously. It's now like Twitter with vibes.

I wish you well. And am sorry you didn't get to experience MN at its best 10-15 years ago.

Well. I've been here for 19 years and yes it's changed but I'd still prefer to be on here than not. It's still the first place I come for news, information and often comfort. Seems a bit odd to say 10-15 years ago! I was here and it was cliquey as fuck

Honestly I think this is sort of - life moves on, things evolve, people are at different life stages.

If you were on here 20 years ago your children are, presumably, adults now? And posters leave or change their relationships to what they need from MN as they change through life stages. The 20-year-ago you couldn’t easily understand the experience of the parent of 18+ adults - and there were less of them posting then, of course, because they didn’t know MN was a resource for them.

Nostalgia is fine, obviously. But I can never understand why people don’t want to just make things better right now, where they are.

Yes, absolutely. I'm on the elderly parents section which is pretty much all women and it's incredibly supportive, honestly I'd be lost without the resource. I've gone from needed educational advice for little kids to dealing with 90 year olds and had help all the way
