My goodness this house has potential….

Another bit of property porn. It could be magnificent if done properly, but suspect it will just end up looking generically blingy, with loads of very expensive flash furniture. I’ve looked at so many gorgeous properties in posh bits of London and none of them ever seem authentic. Just bland and shiny with no colour or texture but this is so different. Reminds me of that museum in London Dennis Severs house I think.

I don't see it personally, it looks perfect how it is. What are you thinking the potential lues in?

vegsoup · 29/09/2023 11:14

You're right it will be renovated to be spulest and grey or turned into flats 😭
I'm a sucker for an authentically old home

vegsoup · 29/09/2023 11:14

*soulless/ soul-less ?

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 11:16

I'm already getting palpitations over the thought that some rich person is going to utterly destroy this defenseless Georgian townhouse 😂

Janieforever · 29/09/2023 11:16

I don’t understand what you mean by being done properly. It’s been done wonderfully, very tastefully in keeping with the property age.

wonder who lived there,

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 11:17

I just read the description... it has a WIG CUPBOARD and comes with it's own chronicled history :O

Oooooooooooo1 · 29/09/2023 11:17

Now that is classy

wonder who lived there,

During uni my friends and I rented a Victorian house in Derby and were very interested in its history so went to the library and looked it up on the census. It was really interesting. Back when it was first built the house had belonged to a doctor who worked at the hospital that used to be on the street behind the house.

Phos · 29/09/2023 11:22

I don’t like it. My tastes are too modern to work in this kind of property. Roof terrace is nice.

maybe a barrister or judge if a wig cupboard.

wonder if this is one of the owners. Thr baboon or whatever it is seems to be in front of one of the fire places now

My goodness this house has potential….

Awful pictures again, what's wrong with these estate agents?

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 11:24

@Janieforever If it is a Georgian house as I suspect then wigs were just the fashion at the time but that also could well have been their profession given it's a swish residence :)

That’s true,

Gellhell · 29/09/2023 11:26

I think the potential is already met, surely?

Katharinablumwasinnocent · 29/09/2023 11:26

It’s just a bit untidy for my liking. Itching to put stuff away.

Potential?! It's perfect as it is! Whoever buys it better leave it alone and not modernise it.

If there was ever a house that could pull off piles of books, papers everywhere and an overflowing champagne supply - it’s this one.

Almahart · 29/09/2023 11:30

It's beautiful!

superninny101 · 29/09/2023 11:32

I am also bewildered by what you mean by 'potential' - it absolutely beautiful as it is. It has clearly been modernised but in a very particular style. I don't think someone will change it - lots of people would choose to have a house like this. I know I would.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 29/09/2023 11:33

It has been done. Just a bit too tastefully for some.

PattyDuckface · 29/09/2023 11:35

potential reached already.

Brush up leaves outside and spend the rest of the time living in a bloody marvelous home.

Bananas1350 · 29/09/2023 11:36

I can see the potential as well. Sadly working in places like this all I see is some very cold winters. These big houses are drafty and cold enough for me to wear six layers when I’m there working.

GirlOfTudor · 29/09/2023 11:40

I thought you were going to link a fixer upper!

tattygrl · 29/09/2023 11:47

Oh it's STUNNING! I am absolutely yearning to stay there!!! Saved it in my "dream properties" bookmark along with every other gorgeous house I will never live in 😂

Janieforever · 29/09/2023 11:48

I think it’s owned by two men/male couple/ Definitely no woman living there as lacks femininity I think. But whomever the owners are, they habe done a wonderful job of it. Hats off to them, one of the most tastefully and sympathetically decorated properties I’ve seen. They have an eye for antiques as well and modernised where it counts ie kitchen.
