My goodness this house has potential….

Another bit of property porn. It could be magnificent if done properly, but suspect it will just end up looking generically blingy, with loads of very expensive flash furniture. I’ve looked at so many gorgeous properties in posh bits of London and none of them ever seem authentic. Just bland and shiny with no colour or texture but this is so different. Reminds me of that museum in London Dennis Severs house I think.

I love the bones of the house, but the garish colours would be gone.
Imagine whit with open windows and softly billowing voiles....bliss.

Olive green, terracotta, bone and butter yellow ≠ garish.

Anyone else notice this figure 🤔

It is the reflection of a chimney opposite.

embramum · 29/09/2023 19:38

£4m!

20thousandleaguesunderthesewage · 29/09/2023 19:53

Love it as it is!

The colours are authentic for the period, not garish.

Thanks for that @Berninaa I can sleep tonight. 😁

reminds me of the headquaters of the order of the phoenix

FindingMeno · 29/09/2023 21:05

I still think the colours are garish.
And hideous.
I couldn't live with them, for sure!

No, I’m not keen either. A big pot of Magnolia paint would soon fix that though. :)

Sahara123 · 29/09/2023 22:09

It’s beautiful! Lovely to see a proper period house that hasn’t been “ greyed” and made shiny .

thebabessavedme · 29/09/2023 22:15

It is perfection

Frances0911 · 29/09/2023 22:18

It looks just like Dennis Severs from the outside, it's exactly the same style of building inside as well.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 29/09/2023 22:26

That's not a contradiction. The colours can be garish and authentic for the period. I'm not a fan tbh. I'd find it oppressive.

Snippit · 29/09/2023 22:30

A tad untidy but beautifully stunning. Looks like Farrow and Ball has been used for the colours, very appropriate for the age and style of the building.

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 22:39

@BIossomtoes The house was built between 1720-40 according to the listed building link someone posted before, so still wig centric I think!

You’re right. Thanks.

If there was ever a house that could pull off piles of books, papers everywhere and an overflowing champagne supply - it’s this one.

I agree. I've always aimed for that look myself, but in my place it just looks untidy!

I do hope you are joking?!

SueDonnym · 30/09/2023 07:11

Oh, I was reading that as a big pot of Magnolia plant - and thinking yes, interesting.

violetcuriosity · 30/09/2023 07:38

New kitchen and leave everything else as it is. Made me feel weirdly emotional looking at the pics, I'll never live somewhere like that and miss living in London 🙁. What a beautiful property. Wonder what's in the vaults and attic!

ThreeRingCircus · 30/09/2023 07:56

£4 million quid to live next to a boarded up building! Crikey. The roof terrace is giving me heebie jeebies too, like someone could easily fall over the edge.

I like the paint colours though!
