My goodness this house has potential….

Another bit of property porn. It could be magnificent if done properly, but suspect it will just end up looking generically blingy, with loads of very expensive flash furniture. I’ve looked at so many gorgeous properties in posh bits of London and none of them ever seem authentic. Just bland and shiny with no colour or texture but this is so different. Reminds me of that museum in London Dennis Severs house I think.

Perfect. With the sole exception of the macaque in the fireplace.

I can see the potential as well. Sadly working in places like this all I see is some very cold winters. These big houses are drafty and cold enough for me to wear six layers when I’m there working.

Potential for what? It’s been done wonderfully.

hellywelly3 · 29/09/2023 11:50

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s timeless

SuperSange · 29/09/2023 11:52

What are the vaults? Like little cellars?

Neighneigh · 29/09/2023 11:52

Am always amused when people criticise period decorations entirely in keeping with the age of the house. Not everything was built by Barratt!...the only thing I'd consider is the kitchen which is a bit naff but the rest is entirely appropriate.

Mind you for £4m I'd probably have jetwashed the back yard before the photos.

DontGiveMeThatOldCrap · 29/09/2023 11:54

If I could afford a £3 million pounds house, it certainly wouldn't be a terraced one.

piscofrisco · 29/09/2023 11:55

I love that how it is. The furniture and some of the decor need pulling together a bit that all-but I wouldn't even change the colours in some rooms.
It's my dream London house almost.

The living spaces are wonderful, but the bedrooms need sorting.

Graciebobcat · 29/09/2023 11:58

I love it so much as it is. Would just get it repainted and new carpet. Bit more colour in the kitchen.

CarrieMoonbeams · 29/09/2023 11:58

Absolutely beautiful main rooms, some of the bedrooms could be a bit nicer though, IMO.

However ... I wish people would remove the taxidermy when selling a house. I get that it's doubtless been done a long time ago, but it just makes me really sad 😢.

When people on here post details of their house that isn't selling, and there's maybe a few bits and pieces lying around, everyone says "you need to de-personalise it!", well personally I don't want to see dead animals 😞.

Luckily for them I'm not exactly their target market!

SueDonnym · 29/09/2023 12:02

How is it heated -big windows and old wood floors suggest Brrrrrrrrr! To me

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 12:11

@EvaCardboard Ooh yes, definite potential there!

HashBrownandBeans · 29/09/2023 12:13

I’d barely change it if I bought it. Garden and kitchen probably

Runnerduck34 · 29/09/2023 12:14

I love it! Would move in tomorrow- off to buy a lottery ticket

Slidingsocks · 29/09/2023 12:15

EvaCardboard · 29/09/2023 12:08

Agree with PPs that that house has its potential fulfilled!

Anyone after a Georgian fixer-upper - feast your eyes on this (5 bedrooms, £275K, ie not in London)

OMG the daaaaaaamp!

TheMousePipes · 29/09/2023 12:21

I want a house with a big messy grand piano and an overflowing wine rack. Please can I have this one?

LubaLuca · 29/09/2023 12:23

It's fabulous, I wouldn't change anything about it.

PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer · 29/09/2023 12:31

Nearly 4 million £££ for a terraced house smack bang in the middle of one of the most crime ridden, violent, polluted, over-populated places in Europe?! 😂 No thanks.

Berninaa · 29/09/2023 12:31

The piano actually looks like an antique pianoforte. In fact a lot of the furniture looks like it has been passed down through a well heeled family doesn’t it.

It is clearly freezing, three heaters or possibly dehumidifiers in one of the bedrooms. I could put up with that though, I'm used to a cold house!

dimsumfatsum · 29/09/2023 12:35

It's beautiful as it is. I'd live there. Downstairs dazzles more than the upstairs.

Mistandmellowfruitfullness · 29/09/2023 12:35

Wow - off to buy a lotto ticket!
