@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

Morning all.

Sorry to hear about your Dad’s potential diagnosis @petalpower. Even if you are expecting it it feels like a shock.

Hope all colds and backs get better @RocketIceLollie and @WinterLobelia.

@RunningKatie - that does sound like a productive day. Enjoy your trip. Sounds amazing.

Yesterday I finished most of the Christmas decorating. A couple of finishing touches this morning and then all the boxes can get put back upstairs. Although main tree still needs work…….

Today’s list:

  • dishwasher/kitchen tidy etc
  • put laundry away
  • fill charity shop bag
  • strip bed in spare bedroom
  • order some Christmas presents
  • transfer some money to sisters (my Dad who passed away in 2021 got a tax rebate so a nice Christmas present for us all)
  • buy Christmas cards

I’m also trying to decide whether to travel to Ireland to see my sister.

Have a good day all.

TawnyT · 08/12/2023 09:55

@WinterLobelia oh dear, hope the rest is helping!

I have Fridays off with the little one so it's potty training one-on-one today. 75% success rate so far 😅 hopefully it continues like this!

Trying to limit the jobs so I can keep an eye on DD and her potty. But will pop to town later for a new watch battery and to return a pair of slippers for a smaller size.

@Peridot1 good work on the xmas decorating, I keep looking at my tree thinking it needs more too. It's looking a bit 'store display' at the moment, might try making some decorations with the little one today for a more personal touch.

SpiritOfEdna · 08/12/2023 10:05

Morning, @petalpower sorry to hear about your dad, hopefully you will know what the diagnosis is soon; and @Peridot1 Flowers for your sister and anyone else with colds and general malaise
@RunningKatie we are hoping spiritdoggo will take us to a newly opened cafe in the village on Sunday.
Today:

  • brush SpiritDoggo's teeth - we are very random on this but needs to be done regularly.
  • we tested (sceptically) out a revive product on the wooden floors yesterday where they have become worn with high traffic - it worked so we need to do it in other areas now; will buy today, do tomorrow
  • need a plan for weekend - hopefully get a xmas tree Sunday
  • my bedroom is a mess from looking for my gym kit this morning so need to restore order and make the bed, get some washing done.
  • clear the kitchen worktops (used tea bags - why when there is a bin within 2 foot!) and my desk, again.
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE

Morning all. Today's job was my very overdue smear test which is now done! ✅

And my gynecologist says that I don't have a physical problem with my muscles, just need to do more exercise and recommended Pilates. I'm going to look for an evening class.

SingleThreadJoiner · 08/12/2023 11:23

Hello everyone, old and new! How exciting to have some new names/faces 😀

I am declaring message bankruptcy at this point of the week - meaning that I've been out of the loop for too many days and I don't think I can successfully reply properly to everyone's going-ons - apologies!!

It sounds like there is a mix of victories (potty training! smear tests!) and less good news (bad backs and sad family medical updates) from my quick read-through. Big hugs to all - congratulatory hugs, supportive hugs, encouraging hugs.

Our guests have gone and they have been lovely and in fact quite helpful, but good to have the time back in our schedules. Hoping to do the tree decorating on Sunday afternoon but need the H to take it indoors and open it up a bit to dry first. This evening D's school is having a Christmas disco (!) so we are truly and well into the Christmas spirit...🎄

Earlier this week I managed quite a bit of laundry, and taking a bag to the charity shop. Today/over the weekend I must:
= pay the babysitter
= see who needs to be sent a Christmas card
= buy stamps?
= being the enthusiastic PTA mom that I am, start making plans for the class present to the teachers....wish me luck!

Aria999 · 08/12/2023 20:29

Yesterday finally managed to clear and vacuum / mop DS rug and floor!

Today had near total fail on my intended list. I took a return parcel to FedEx, did the data transfer for the kids' new iPads, and spent the rest of the afternoon sorting out clothes.

We have weird seasons here with very variable temperatures so it's hard to know when to do the seasonal wardrobe swap - this tends to mean I just grab a few things from the storage for the approaching season, forget I didn't get everything, think 'I don't seem to have very many sweaters / winter trousers etc at the moment', and end up buying more...

WinterLobelia · 09/12/2023 08:18

Morning all!

@Aria999 that sounds like a busy day!

I got to the concert. I took a cushion with me but it was not needed. DH has taken the Dcs swimming because driving with the clutch might be too much of a strain. So I am going to do activities today that are useful but not too much for my back (I hope) mainly washing and ironing. I am also making a Japanese inspired meal for dinner- mainly for DS1 who is developing an interest in Japanese decor, lifestyle etc. Miso soup, braised beef with broccoli, rice and pickled ginger on the side with lashings of green tea. Smile . We will see how it goes down. He's uber picky with his food so I am hoping the novelty might mean more is actually ingested than would be otherwise.

@Peridot1 have you decided about a trip to Ireland? FWIW (And it's none of my business of course!) I suspect you will feel 'better' if you can go and give in situ support to her. Thanks 'Better' isn;t quite the right word but I hope you know what I mean. I hope she is okay.

Hi and 🖐to everyone I missed. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Thunderinglightly · 09/12/2023 08:30

💐 to @petalpower and @Peridot1 and anyone else who needs them.
Lovely to see our new joiners and read about what everyone is doing 👋

Today: bit of a lie-in ✅
Cleaned fridge tick ✅
To do.....i have stuff hanging on pegs in hallway and behind three doors and today is the day I shall put it in it's proper place.

Something has shat outside the back door (lovely!) so I must pick that up.

I will also clean the lint from the tumble dryer with the flexible brush that I acquired for the purpose.

I also need to get next year's calender out of it's packaging as things are being booked for next year.

Have a lovely day everyone! It's windy and wet and wild here.

TawnyT · 09/12/2023 09:05

Morning all!

Eep @BertieBotts that's a reminder that I missed my last smear test, another one for the list today then..

Yesterday I managed my errands in town, and my normal daily jobs (dinner and dishes). And potty training went OK, a couple of accidents but overall more on the potty than not!

Today -

  • need to do a food shop
  • clear and sort paperwork on my desk
  • do a little 'digital' cleaning and close some of the 100's of browser windows I have open and delete the junk emails
  • call to book smear test

Hope those with poorly relatives are managing OK. Have a good weekend all!

petalpower · 09/12/2023 12:28

Happy Saturday everyone! Lovely to see old faces and new and hear of all your achievements.
I’m sleeping very badly and am feeling really tired but need to crack on with some jobs.

  • supermarket delivery arrived and everything put away ✔️
  • contacted friends about Christmas get togethers ✔️
  • cleaned the fridge and kitchen ✔️
  • boring admin jobs ✔️
Now need to write some cards, hang the wreath I made a workshop this week and re-apply for auntie’s parking blue badge. The carpenter is here hanging doors in the new extension and DH is painting walls and ceilings like a mad man. Goodness only know when I’ll be able to get any Christmas decorations up!
BertieBotts · 09/12/2023 13:28

Cleaned the kitchen and decluttered some non matching tupperware lids/boxes and some of the sauce sachets that we collect and never use.

We decorated the tree today too :) But that wasn't really a job!

DH is now cleaning the bathroom and refusing to heed my warnings about combining toilet cleaners Hmm FFS

Peridot1 · 09/12/2023 15:55

@WinterLobelia - thank you for your wise advice. I have decided to go. Flights, hotel and hire car booked this morning. She is no better and in fact getting worse. They are now talking of transferring her to a different hospital with a good liver etc department. I think they can run more tests there and it’s the centre for liver transplants etc. I go on Monday.

And of course I find out today that MIL is in hospital and has been for a week. Nothing I can do there so trying not to think about it!

No idea why everything is in Italics.

^^

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/12/2023 07:18

Just a quick check-in as am now in bed and need to get to sleep...
Managed 5 loads laundry today, changed 2 beds and cleaned half of the bathroom.
Rained and a bit of snow this morning, but now gone. So, it was a good day to catch up on laundry which I let pile up this past week as have been taking Havoc out a lot to do Christmassy things while I still am able.
Planned on some baking today, but wasn't motivated after all to do it....so, tomorrow.

Peridot, good decision to go to sister. Hoping for some answers and solutions for her. ❤

petalpower · 10/12/2023 09:36

Safe travels @Peridot1 . I really hope you get some good news soon. Will you have other family there as well as your unwell sister?
I managed to get the blue badge reapplication sorted yesterday and got on well with the Christmas cards. We were out for dinner at friends in the village last night and may have had a little too much festive vino so I’m feeling a bit fragile this morning! Today we’re taking auntie out for lunch and meeting her god daughter and husband and her mum who is a very old friend of aunties. They haven’t seen each other for several years now (friend and auntie) due to age, Covid, distance etc - hope there is a spark of recognition for auntie but it’s hard to tell. Auntie is mostly in a wheelchair now or uses a walking frame so it could be hard to get her into the pub for lunch. Where there’s a will there’s a way!
Have a good day everyone.

Peridot1 · 10/12/2023 10:05

Christmas outings with Babyhavoc sounds much better than laundry @Mumtobabyhavoc.

@petalpower - yes my two other sisters are there too although neither has been to see her. One will hopefully come with me tomorrow.

Sis was transferred to the other hospital last night. Had a better nights sleep and they are hoping to drain the excess fluid to make her more comfortable. No diagnosis really as yet. But she is definitely in the right place. She is glad I’m going as is feeling very alone with it all. Her DH is a bit useless.

So today I am packing and trying to get a few things done before going.

  • wash my jacket - almost done
  • put laundry away
  • put boxes back into loft when DS is up
  • book taxi for tomorrow
  • pack

I have some over ripe bananas and apples that I was hoping to make into cakes so may try to do that if I get time and can be bothered.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/12/2023 21:36

Peridot, your mind must be all over the place trying to pack, etc. sending you support and a reminder to breThe. 🩷
Petal, how are you doing? Lots on your plate. You seem very good to tour family. 🩷
Aria, when are you off on holiday?

Some good tasks accomplished everyone! 👏

I've washed towels and just waiting for them to dry; folded and put away clothes from drying rack (others not dry yet); vacuumed and steam-mopped including living room area rug and entrance rug; and vacuumed one couch, but steam-cleaned both. One couch had two stubborn stains so worked them with a cloth and a bit of dish soap then re-steamed with vinegar/water mix. Hoping that did the trick as I am loathe to rent a cleaner.

Still lots to do, as always, but what I've done feels good. (Yea, me!🥳) And if anyone popped by unexpectedly I wouldn't have anxiety! 🤣

TawnyT · 11/12/2023 09:14

@petalpower how was your lunch with your auntie in the end?

@Peridot1 safe travels today! Sounds like a good move to the more specialised hospital, fingers crossed for some answers on what's going on soon.

My daily tasks (i.e. the ones I didn't complete at the weekend)

  • clear desk and sort paperwork
  • book smear test

Also most remember to pay off the outstanding balance for our Xmas dinner today.

Potty training actually went really well at the weekend but only when she wasn't wearing any pants. Anytime she has something on she thinks it's fine to go 🙄 ordered the 'oh crap' book yesterday hoping for some wisdom to help 🤞🏻🤞🏻

petalpower · 11/12/2023 09:47

Safe journey @Peridot1 . I hope you find some comfort being with your sister and the rest of the family.
Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc thats a really lovely thing to say. I‘m ok - still
not sleeping well but just putting one foot in front of the other. My dad had his bone scan last week and will probably have an MRI this week. The MRI was cancelled when he got to the department on Friday (don’t ask) as test should have been coordinated in a particular order. My brother and I are trying to decide how much my dad should be put through in terms of tests and treatment.
Thank you for asking about the lunch @TawnyT . It was a nice lunch but auntie wasn’t having a great day and got a bit agitated.
Anyway, enough of my woes! Today I’ve got lots to do.I’ll be back later. Have a great day all.

SingleThreadJoiner · 11/12/2023 12:21

Hello everyone and happy new week. Very sorry to read about mixed developments on the family health front for some of you - very best of luck, and agree with all who are supporting @Peridot1 's decision to fly to Ireland.

@Mumtobabyhavoc what happened to resting and taking it easy as the date approaches?! 😆Your energy is extraordinary.

We put up the tree yesterday, D enjoyed it immensely so that was a fun family activity. Also got out the Christmas cards and actually wrote two already so I feel very accomplished 😂 Must keep at it! And get H to do the ones for his family and friends.
Yesterday I also got the last bits for a food bank Christmas hamper and delivered it to the collection point - it ended up being a bit more of a job than expected so I'm glad it's out of the way.

Lots of urgent items on my work to-do list, and thankfully not many meetings in the way of them, so hoping to make good progress on that today/tomorrow. In the meantime, a load of laundry is on, and I've rearranged D's afterschool club bookings which needed doing for this week, so that's a good start.

Have a good day everyone

BertieBotts · 11/12/2023 15:53

Hello and happy Monday. I have sent some emails about a course that I would like to do. That doesn't sound like a lot but it took me a while because I was doing it in German and I wrote them myself rather than relying on Google translate. I must improve my language skills so doing this is a very good exercise. Tomorrow will be a day of town based errands instead. I will take a bag of things to the second hand shop, then go to pick up my repeat prescription, then go to the Jobcentre to find out about funding for the courses I want to do. If I have time after doing all that, I promised DS2 I will go and look for some more gloves so that we have more pairs to rotate as he gets them dirty after one day and I am always washing them.

SpiritOfEdna · 11/12/2023 16:13

Afternoon,
Christmas tree bought yesterday, and after last's year debacle where we bought a tree that was too big for the room we repeated the error 😃they look so tiny when the are outside. However, It is up and is drying out in the room but it smelled delicious when I walked in this morning. Pince needles are everywhere though.
I am faffing around with meetings today, instead of winding down for xmas we seem to be winding up. (in all senses). One more meeting though and am done for today. Not much time left for tasks today but just to send love and best wishes to @petalpower and @Peridot1 and anyone else dealing with family issues.
Agree @Mumtobabyhavoc your energy levels are off the charts!
@BertieBotts hope the DH survived the combining toilet cleaners!
Flowers to everyone I haven't mentioned.

Hi everyone- just checking in with a wave and Thanks to you all.

About to retire for the night as am exhausted and back playing up again- I hope everyone is well and family all also well. ❤

Aria999 · 13/12/2023 02:09

Hi all!

Flying out on Monday evening so less than a week to go.

All the presents are stacked in the cupboard and we need to sort and wrap! I hate it so will put off to absolute last minute.

Today I lost the morning to getting the car serviced as I ended up waiting for it (Uber too expensive). Didn't do too much else, changed sheets and towels, cleaned kitchen, ordered Xmas presents, sorted out invite list for DS birthday party.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/12/2023 02:19

Sounds busy, Aria!

Nice to see the productive posts.😀
I've been busy with appts leaving me too tired to get other things done at home. 😔
