@petalpower
@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

Hello everyone and 👋 new people 💕

My just one thing today was clean windows in the spare room today.

I also did the flea/worm treatment on cats.

I also went to clean the cat litter tray and managed to stand on the edge and tip it over, so had that to clean up.

DH is cooking our tea so I will be in charge of washing up.

It's freezing out today but the sunrise this morning was beautiful and made it worth it!

RocketIceLollie · 06/12/2023 18:43

Gonna place mark myself on this thread 👍

petalpower · 06/12/2023 21:12

Three new people in one day! Welcome all!

petalpower · 06/12/2023 21:56

Jobs done today:

  • put out lots of cardboard recycling ✔️
  • finished last Christmas shopping ✔️
  • dentist appointment ✔️
  • visited care home auntie and decorated her room for Christmas ✔️
  • posted eBay parcel and bought Christmas stamps ✔️
  • worried about dad and slept very badly ✔️
Thunderinglightly · 07/12/2023 07:32

Smug morning! I've put a wash on, hoovered, mopped kitchen and bathroom. Dinner is prepped and bedding changed. Yes I did get up early 😂 Also stretches. I have a bookcase that needs attention and some books I must either read or get rid of.
Today I need to buy batteries. And milk. Visiting my mum today and might take her for a coffee somewhere.
I hope you all have a pleasant and productive day 💐

TawnyT · 07/12/2023 09:10

Today I have one box of Arts and crafts stuff left to clear (that was 6 boxes yesterday so progress was made!)

I didn't manage to walk the dog yesterday - it's such a struggle now with the dark nights! She goes to playschool a few times a week so isn't lacking in exercise but I have some serious dog mom guilt about not getting her out everyday. I bought a head torch at the weekend so I will walk her today even if it's dark!

Also need to fit in the gym tonight.

And we started potty training with DD today! It's the nursery's problem for now but that'll be my evening gone watching her every move for any signs of needing a poo 😅

Aria999 · 07/12/2023 12:06

Good luck with potty training @TawnyT !
How old is DD?

Wow @Thunderinglightly that's a good morning! Time to put your feet up with a cup of tea?

@petalpower 😥 how is your dad doing?

Today:
Tidy and vacuum kids rooms ( I made some progress yesterday but not there yet)
Finish buying Xmas presents because yikes 'tis nearly upon us

SpiritOfEdna · 07/12/2023 12:30

@TawnyT we struggle with giving SpriritDoggo 2 x walks a day - the park we go to is very dark after 4 and she doesn't like just walking up and down pavements.

Morning! (Well midday, but that doesn't have quite the same ring)

  • yesterday spent an inordinate amount of time fretting whether the John Lewis gift voucher email I received (and opened) was spam and I'd unleased the forces of hackers onto the network only to dig a bit back to an email I hadn't read, saying I had been picked in a lucky dip thing for a work survey I had filled in. It must have been a while ago. So today I am going to spend it!
  • The rubbish I cleared off my desk yesterday has been replaced by detritus from opening today's mail - need to tidy that again. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to record a work meeting and I have notes scribbled on bits of envelope - very professional.
  • SpiritDoggo wanted to do morning stretches with me, she got as far as Downward Dog and then wanted to climb on my back; so abandoned with three to go 😃
  • Need to walk SpiritDoggo shortly
  • kitchen worktops cleaned - no doubt there will be more to do later
Right, off to walk SpiritDoggo, have a good day, SoE

Hello all.

Welcome @BertieBotts @TawnyT and @RocketIceLollie. This is such a lovely thread to be on.

I am still pottering about but not achieving much. My sister is still very sick and in hospital. Having more tests. None of which sound very nice. She is very fed up and very scared and emotional. So all of that is taking a lot of my emotional energy at the moment. Feeling very useless. I could go over but there isn’t a lot I can actually do other than visit her in hospital.

So even though I’m really not feeling it this year I am in the middle of putting up the Christmas decorations etc. Hoping to finish this afternoon and then the boxes can all go back up into the loft.

I have done some but not all of my Christmas shopping. Need to buy Christmas cards. And then write them. And plan what we are eating etc. I think I need to find my brain dump list I did a few weeks ago and see where I am with the things on there.

Today’s list:

  • washing - done
  • empty dishwasher - done
  • pick up car (drove to a Christmas dinner last night and then DS picked us up so we left the car there) done
  • decorate Christmas tree in living room (done)
  • decorate garland on living room fireplace (done)
  • tidy kitchen
  • fold washing
  • decorate kitchen for Christmas
  • finish decorating hallway and bannisters
  • vacuum
  • decide if I’m going to re-do the main Christmas tree - not sure I’m happy with it (I’m a bit of a Christmas obsessive especially about decorating!)

Have a good day all.

BertieBotts · 07/12/2023 14:48

I also have not done much today. Just did some washing and put the dishwasher on. DS3 is still poorly and then I had a catch up chat with my mum who is going through some MH difficulties at the moment.

@SpiritOfEdna I have just noticed your username, lovely name - my grandma's name was Edna and it is always a comforting thought to think of her spirit!

Thank you for the welcomes everyone.

TawnyT · 07/12/2023 15:05

@SpiritOfEdna it makes dog walks so tricky! Mine won't walk in the village (rescue dog scared of her own shadow) so it's only walks on country lanes and local fields where obviously its pitch black and its been raining for days so there's mud a plenty and the cows have just been moved back for the winter and they're terrifying to come across in the dark 😅

Anyway, fingers crossed the rain stops this evening and I'll take her out with my head torch and hope the cows stay clear.

Hope you enjoyed walk with spiritdoggo!

@Aria999 DD turned 2 in September, we tried potty training back in July but she didn't take to it so hopefully we'll have better luck this time.

@Peridot1 wishing your sister all the best in hospital, that must be heavy on your mind. Hopefully the Christmas decorations have kept you busy.

So I managed to tidy away the last box of craft supplies on my lunch break. Started that job about 6 weeks ago so it's great to tick it off the list! I'm trying hard to focus on getting one task finished before moving to the next... I can be a bit scatter brained and jump to the next thing before actually making any progress and ultimately end up with dozens of half done jobs making the house look like a shit tip despite me doing loads of stuff. So the mantra atm is... One. Task. At. A. Time.

Aria999 · 07/12/2023 15:18

@TawnyT this is absolutely me. I'm terrible at finishing things. We ran the whole range of experiences with potty training, DS fought it bitterly on and off for 2 years and didn't get there till he started full time preschool at nearly 4. With DD I just ran out of nappies one day when she was about 2.5 and gave it a go and she just kind of did it, maybe 3 accidents total...

Aria999 · 07/12/2023 15:22

P.s. sorry I thought I had bolded that quote but clearly it didn't take!

petalpower · 07/12/2023 16:13

Great to read of all your achievements!
Sorry your sister is going through such a dreadful time @Peridot1 .
Thank you for asking after my dad @Aria999 . We have been told to expect a cancer diagnosis. He is having two types of scan tomorrow and a biopsy early next week.
Today I’ve tried to push on with some jobs:

  • menu plan and online supermarket shop ✔️
  • been to local village for greengrocers and butchers ✔️
  • bought more recycling bags and building supplies for DH and ordered tablet salt for the water softener ✔️
  • wrapped and parcelled presents that need to be posted ✔️
  • wrote cards for people I’m seeing over the next few days to save on postage ✔️
  • tried and failed to renew blue badge for auntie as I haven’t got the right sort of recent photo of her - think I will also struggle with her proof of residence as there’s not much with the care home address on it - might have to make a phone call tomorrow
Peridot1 · 07/12/2023 16:23

@TawnyT and @Aria999 this is me too! Jump from thing to thing and finish nothing!

Aria999 · 07/12/2023 18:24

Oh @petalpower I am so sorry to hear that. Right before Christmas too.

RocketIceLollie · 07/12/2023 19:04

Hey all,

Good luck with the potty training @TawnyT

Happy shopping at JL @SpiritOfEdna - I need pop in JL sometime to get the usual nice smellies for mum and dad for Xmas

I'm the same about presenting the Xmas tree @Peridot1

After work this evening I've done:

Cleared away the usual clutter off kitchen table
Made tea
Washing up + put away
Antibac'd kitchen tops
Swept kitchen floor
Taken some washing upstairs + put away
Tidied ds's PS4 game cases in the living room

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/12/2023 19:57

Reading today's updates - phew! 🥵 Busy people! 😃

Finally managed a decent sleep and got Havoc to school. Have appt shortly for foetal monitoring, so must get ready to go to that.
Just taking a break to sit and scroll for now, though... 🤷‍♀️

RunningKatie · 07/12/2023 20:40

Congrats on the JL voucher @SpiritOfEdna
Both my dc went over @Mumtobabyhavoc 12 and 15 days respectively, nothing short of a rocket-fuelled drip was getting those babies out into the wide world!
Hello to all the new joiners.
I've been super productive today, I had a day off, so Christmas shopped, holiday packed, ironed, walked ddog and allowed him to take dh and I to the pub for lunch. Had a lovely chat with one of our neighbours, she goes there for lunch every day, we see her wheeling her trolley up and down the road. I worried about her so much in covid, and it's so nice seeing her out and about again. Obviously ddog tried to lick her plate as he's table height, luckily as there were only vegetables left he soon realised the error of his ways.
Back to work tomorrow then off to the land of ice and snow to see Santa. I'll be excited once we're in the air.

RunningKatie · 07/12/2023 20:45

Also, sorry, I couldn't tag everyone but @petalpower - so sorry about your dad, hope that all the investigations go as smoothly as they can and he's not too uncomfortable.
@Peridot1 also, your poor sister, being stuck in hospital is awful. No wonder she's fed up, hope that the tests are concluded soon and that she feels better.

WinterLobelia · 08/12/2023 07:04

Morning all

checking in then will go back and read properly.

I am in bed with a bad back. I have two small bulging discs (for a long time) and one has twanged via the medium of post-carpet installation furniture moving. Inevitable in some ways.

So bed rest for me in the hope it can improve rapidly as we have the school concert tonight and for once the DCs are actually a part of it!

WinterLobelia · 08/12/2023 07:22

Oh @petalpower I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Thanks Best wishes to you all.

@Peridot1 also Thanks for you and your sister.

@BertieBotts thinking of you while you support your mum as well. Thanks

❤to everyone on our lovely thread.

Such a busy time of year. I need to sort Christmas shopping as well and cards and sending gifts to Australia to godchildren and so forth. It exhausts me just thinking about it.

@Mumtobabyhavoc you must be exhausted! I recall how exhausting the last few weeks were!

Lovely to have new joiners as well. 💖

Hope everyone has a great day. x

RocketIceLollie · 08/12/2023 07:37

Morning all,

I'm feeling full of germs this morning. Felt this cold coming on the last few days culminating in a blocked nose induced crap sleep last night & have now sneezed for probably the 10th time already this morning whilst writing this out. So glad it's Friday. Will look forward to a nice bath this evening after work.

Where are you jetting off to @RunningKatie

Hope you are well enough to attend the school concert this evening @WinterLobelia

WinterLobelia · 08/12/2023 07:43

Thanks @RocketIceLollie Smile

I hope your cold is over super soon and you have a good day.

RocketIceLollie · 08/12/2023 08:09

Thank you @WinterLobelia I will muster through the work day clutching my Vicks nose inhaler.
