Hehe hehe 🍿

"So I think now as they brand themselves the home of free speech, they're actually the home of cancel culture."

Maybe GB news is going to eat itself

File photo dated 7/4/2021 of Laurence Fox

Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson sacked by GB News

The presenters are fired following a row over sexist comments Fox made about a female journalist.

Fox was arrested today! Something to do with encouraging people to destroy the ULEZ cameras.

Wtf was his wife doing giving a speech? Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think party leaders wives/husbands gave political speeches. It's a bit like me turning up to my husbands workplace and telling his colleagues how to do their jobs. Crass.

Why would you even want to do that? Being someone's plus one and wanting the limelight? They are desperate.

Here you go Sarah Brown did the same

Sarah Brown makes surprise podium appearance

PM's wife gets standing ovation as she gives short address in support of her husband

Notonthestairs · 05/10/2023 06:39

I remember Sarah Brown's speech.

It's interesting that they've both done it that they felt they needed humanising or colour adding.

I don't think either woman was their husbands "secret weapon" whatever the papers say. I think the public are a bit too cynical to put much store by politicians wives (although I do think they both have solid marriages which is more than can be said for some.)

I think it is to remind us that Carrie and friends used to wander around Downing Street telling people what to do?

Plan for the North. Fix potholes in the south.

I'm begining to think that perhaps cabinet ministers should have to sit a British Geography exam before they are allowed to open their red boxes.

Does anyone know where Dover is and what it is for?

Notonthestairs · 05/10/2023 07:00

Fixing potholes is where we are at.

Years of austerity and competitive underinvestment in schools/hospitals/council infrastructure/roads/rails etc

and yes our money has to be used to correct that. Nobody fixed the bloody roof when the interest rates were shining!

No point having new A levels or whatever if the school is falling down and thereby enough teachers.
The reason why we have to spend £36 billion on potholes is why I am cross.

BIossomtoes · 05/10/2023 07:26

I’m currently in Malta which used to be famous for its potholes before it joined the EU. The roads are far better than ours now.

A Government Minister being grilled on BBC about WHY the video was filmed in Downing Street before the Party Conference, yet he is saying the decision was only taken on Tuesday.
They honestly honestly think we are totally stupid

"I dont know why people are getting so het up [by us lying to you]".

Maybe he recorded two videos with alternative endings!

We did a road trip in Namibia last year. The main roads were better than the A6 and A141 which are the roads I'm familiar with.

Current Voting Intention by news source (Newspapers).

Considering right-leaning Newspaper readership, only people primarily getting their news from Daily Mail are more likely to say they will vote for the Conservatives than Labour, and then only by a small (2%) margin:

The Sun Readers National Prediction: Labour majority 96

In a General Election held today, with voting restricted to only those getting their news from The Sun (sample 2234) Sir Keir Starmer would enter Downing Street with a hefty majority, based on a 12 point lead.

Bring it on.

I'll say one thing for wee Rishi though. I bet he's very good at reading bedtime stories to small children. His patronising tone, penchant for simple vocab and frequent pauses between sentences would be perfect.

Norther Network U turn. Government are not necessarily going to reopen the Leamside line, they are just ‘committed to looking into it’

I’m going to use this excuse at work more.

I don't usually pay much attention to Party conferences but LBC played an astonishing clip of Penny Mordaunt going full Mussolini in Manchester yesterday. It's quite something. Are they always this mad? Is this where they bring out their true selves for the believers? Words fail me.

RafaistheKingofClay · 05/10/2023 14:18

You need to see the video too. It’s amazing.

The speech where she appeared to be attempting to incite a worldwide bar brawl. Confused

Yep everyone’s going to be fighting everyone else.

Edited

The thing is all the people they will pay (their mates) to look into it, live in London, so that is a good way of levelling up the North.

newnamethanks · 05/10/2023 14:26

Thanks for the clip. Will leave it until I feel like facing it without imploding.

newnamethanks · 05/10/2023 14:29

She's absorbed Britannia. They should never have let her carry that sword, I hope she didn't tug it out of an anvil.

AdamRyan · 05/10/2023 14:49

I thought it was quite rousing but I don't know what we are meant to be fighting? Socialists who want to take away our freedom?? Eh??

countrygirl99 · 05/10/2023 15:04

So next time Just Stop Oil activists are arrested should they just tell the courts they were following her suggestion?
