Same here. Irish immigrants from potato famine aka economic migrants to Manchester. Kind, thoughtful people who became transport engineers, nurses, musicians, photographers, physios, communication tech workers, library assistants, school business managers....not to forget the granddad I never met who was in the RAF during WW2, fighting for the sunlit uplands (Boris can F* off pinching that) and against Nazi rule across Europe/beyond.
Easy for people to forget I'm a great great grandchild of immigrants (treated harshly at the time 'no Blacks, no Irish, no Dogs'), as I'm white so I do blend in.
If my ancestors hadn't fled their homelands then I wouldn't be sat here typing this.
And can the Tories (or any party) not see that environmental disaster is going to be the biggest driver of migration in years to come. Fire, floods, drought, food insecurity is going to cause the 'hurricane' as Braverman puts it. Never mind though, here comes Rishsi in his helicopter. Not a care in the world.
