As an aside...who on earth can find him desirable like the woman he's hooked up with, who looks intelligent etc?
He's such a pillock. I only have to see his earnest little face and I feel nauseous

itsgettingweird · 28/09/2023 07:00

MP for Croydon on the news this morning. Seriously impressed with her. She's absolutely right that knife crime should be a cross party issue and it's no good just saying police take a hardline approach. We have cut all the support for prevention.

Looks like rishi might be doing a round of local radio stations today. Presumably influenced by the huge success Truss had doing it.

Notonthestairs · 28/09/2023 08:25

Ah! So BBC local radio has its uses then. Shame they are so keen to cut it.

I had totally forgotten about Truss on the local stations. Man alive that was a painful listen.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/09/2023 08:27

Hoping Rishi’s is going just as well. I mean we all know how good he is in interviews.

Have to confess I enjoyed this clip

https://x.com/stuartharriso10/status/1706779088675897601?s=46&t=W_tdXjZ0rKQ9JOWeQRH75A

though he’s yet another of doing other jobs while still an MP - so much for representing his constituency!

Ooh, he didn't like that at all, did he? Loved the way he was slapped down when he tried to interrupt.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/09/2023 08:47

I didn’t break the law it was just guidance is a bollock excuse really. Not sure why he thinks that paints him or the government in a good light. It just looks like they muddied the waters because they didn’t want to take any action at all and we’re forced into it by circumstances.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 28/09/2023 09:52

Oh my goodness! That thread on Keir Starmer is very odd.
I didn't watch the SAS thing, I may catch up on it though after watching the clip.
I am desperately waiting for the mid beds by election- is it @Piggywaspushed that is local? Just wondering how it's looking on the ground. I am hearing conflicting Lab/LD reports so guess we will wait and see.
I wonder if it may be a lesson around learning which seats to campaign thoroughly or take a backseat with a paper candidate come GE.
My seat is a boundary change /new seat and the CON Mp from next door is all over it. Chose not to stand in his current seat. My take is because his current seat is looking a little yellow.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2023 10:09

Sunak really doesn't like being taken to account, local radio clip here.

Rishi Sunak repeatedly refuses to answer questions from BBC Manchester about whether he will scrap HS2 to the city and just talks about filling potholes instead

BIossomtoes · 28/09/2023 10:14

I wonder if he’s doing as badly as that on all the other local stations?

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/09/2023 10:50

Remind me who it was that was Chancellor and held the purse strings when councils could no longer afford to fix potholes.

pointythings · 28/09/2023 10:52

The Starmer thread is full of shills, with a smattering of Tory diehards and a few reasonable voices. All the old lies are being trotted out true to Tory form. This will ramp up as we get closer to a GE.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/09/2023 10:57

I’m going to need to make myself a Tory shill bingo card.

IClaudine · 28/09/2023 11:18

I am not sure there is any point engaging with those threads, but now and again I can't help it.

Bingo card is a good idea.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2023 11:19

Labout must be doing things right when the Tory shills need threads like that.

Clav reached a new low with her 'Starmer like Beethoven', guess the donkey field is now old news Grin

Not sure if it is really a U-turn, more a change of tactics? Charging VAT is easier to achieve then changes to the charitable status

Labour drops plan to strip public schools of charitable status

Party drops promise to remove some charity tax perks but says it will implement VAT on fees.

I think there’s every point. Far more people lurk than post and I feel some kind of responsibility to challenge their fairy tales with facts. The level of fantasy and rewriting history is going to go stratospheric once an election is announced and they’re rolling the pitch now. Their outright lies need to be stopped in their tracks.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2023 11:48

I think I am going to bookmark some graphs, especially on education and the NHS

Very good idea. Have you noticed how often I trot out the Kings Fund report that shows how the NHS improved under Blair? At the end of the day every fantasy they post can be disproved with facts and none of them ever post any.

jgw1 · 28/09/2023 12:22

Careful, I tried to inject some facts and that made me a communist.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2023 12:50

I injected facts and was called a 'he'

I like the idea of bookmarking stuff @DuncinToffee

@BIossomtoes I used some King's Fund stats earlier, really useful for countering the What Did Labour Ever Do For Us mob.

BIossomtoes · 28/09/2023 13:43

Facts are important and they just slink away when presented with them. I’ve reached the point where I’d welcome an intelligent, well informed one that you could have a real debate with.

Interesting.

That was a thing on Covid threads too.

It's oddly quiet on the ground. Not much activity. Labour guy quite busy on SM. LibDems doing a lot of leaflet drops . Village near me has LD signs everywhere but they do every election so I read noting into that. Elsewhere seen 3 Lab signs and a few LDs, not one tory placard.

It's the opposite of frenzied.

Everyone who is 'anything but Tory' is confused.
