Jesus, that thread! I need help!

IClaudine · 27/09/2023 13:23

The antivaxxers se to be gearing up again too.

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2023 13:36

"I can't think why we don't therefore have a series of posts telling us all the wonderful things the Tories have done in government for the past 13 years."

Oh heavens, this!
13 years and what have they got to show for it?

Deputy Chairman 30P acknowledged that all they have to rely upon now is culture wars.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/09/2023 13:37

I will be getting my booster vaccine as soon as it's available. I don't understand all the arguments around vaccines. But I'm married to a scientist and when him and all of his colleagues and associates are first to volunteer, that's evidence enough for me. I'll have what they're having.

pointythings · 27/09/2023 13:45

If my trust starts offering the covid booster to non front line staff, I am taking it. I am also having the flu jab.

countrygirl99 · 27/09/2023 14:02

I get the booster as I care for mum. Already booked in.

Had my booster with my flu one last week. Not sure I’m a fan of having two sore arms at the same time. Had them a week apart last year.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/09/2023 10:28

Interesting on Newsnight last night. Tory insisting Braverman is right that being gay should not automatically lead to asylum and we have to crack down on it. Absolutely no answer when it was pointed out that according to government's own figures all refugees granted asylum on the basis of being gay come from countries with a death sentence or life imprisonment.

Heard similar this morning. Figure if less than 3% of claims are for homosexuality and all granted because of the countries they've fled from.

So another sound bite to reach the far right about an non existent problem (I don't think it's a problem but they are calling it such) making out it's a huge problem.

pointythings · 27/09/2023 11:21

I have stopped taking those threads in good faith. They always drop immediately after a Tory cockup, so I am operating on the assumption that the Tories have a Mumsnet adviser in post.

Yes! I'd never clicked the coincidental timing before. But now you've said it

Da and I have ours Friday! I booked as soon as nhs opened their booking site!

itsgettingweird · 27/09/2023 16:43

And I had flu last week and ds has his flu the following week.

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2023 17:07

I am dithering about my booster. I had covid 10 days ago - absolutely dreadful and totally wiped us out. My booster is booked for 3 and a half weeks time and that feels a bit soon after...

Plus I was so ill after the last booster I missed several days work - can't really afford to lose more time after being so ill recently.

Bad news for the newts, Boris’s pool has been approved. What’s the betting the promised compensations don’t happen?

One of the Conservative party’s biggest and most influential donors, Anthony Bamford, is under investigation over his tax affairs, the Guardian can disclose.
The broad-ranging inquiry by HMRC calls into question whether the Tories should accept funds from the peer in the run-up to the general election.

Ah Boris and Carrie's grocer and hamper supplier. Couldn't happen to a better person. I confidently state 'nothing to see here' will be the result of any investigation.

Inadvertent oversight.

Of course. Bloody accountants screwing things up again.

I wouldn't. In fact i thought you couldn't have one so close to having covid

itsgettingweird · 27/09/2023 20:07

Wonder if he also paid for the suitcases of wine?!

We were told repeatedly they were essential for work, so presumably went on expenses.

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2023 20:16

That's what I thought @AdamRyan

newnamethanks · 27/09/2023 20:48

I mistakenly thought Lord Bamford had forked out for the wallpaper as well as Johnson's groceries but it was a different Tory lord, Lord Brownlow. The wine, presumably, as it was bought from a shop, came out of petty cash? The kind of petty cash that would keep a family of four on benefits for a week. You know, tea money sort of thing.

Have to confess I enjoyed this clip

though he’s yet another of doing other jobs while still an MP - so much for representing his constituency!
