Told my ds when we drove to training earlier.

Or rather conversation went

Me "ds do you know where Tory party conference is"
Ds "no, you know I hate them. Why would I care?
Me "this may amuse you"
Ds "where"

Me "Manchester"

Ds "I hope he caught a train there" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Wondered what Braverman was up to after her questionable tweet yesterday.

She's in the US giving speeches about binning 50 year old treaties like the ECHR -

Braverman, who will travel to Washington on Monday, will seek closer collaboration with the U.S. on addressing illegal migration and organised immigration crime. She will hold talks with lawmakers and senior U.S. officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the statement added.
"I'm going to Washington to discuss this (illegal migration) crisis with our American counterparts. If we fail to meet these challenges, then our political institutions risk losing their democratic legitimacy," Braverman said.
Obviously much more sensible to talk to the US about migration policies than say the EU. Isn't the US known as the gateway to Europe?

Alternatively she's meeting up with friends in National Conservatism and fishing for support 💰for her leadership bid next year.

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/09/2023 21:29

Those bloody Mexicans are always coming over here on their dinghies.

I think the number of illegal migrants coming here from the US is dreadful, why do they allow it after we left and took control of our borders?

Tbh, anyone that makes it from South/central America to here on a dinghy deserves to stay IMHO.

Like Paddington?

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/09/2023 22:44

I don’t believe he came on a dinghy.

Somehow missed Rachel Maclean claiming that the reason that the Tories hadn’t built houses is because of the ‘unelected Labour Party’ on LBC this morning.

She’s had a bit of a mare today. Apart from the fact that I assume she does actually know that labour MPs are elected, you’d think that anyone in Sunak’s cabinet ought to stay well clear of using unelected as a slur against anyone.

newnamethanks · 26/09/2023 06:38

Sue Ellen will come back with plans for A Wall. A big, beautiful Wall. That'll teach the blighters.

The trouble might be that Maclean hasn't realised that she has been in government for the past 13 years, and in fact believes that But Jeremy Corbyn and Sir Beer have.

Alert: there's another refugee thread. OP is on the side of the angels but needs assistance.

IClaudine · 26/09/2023 08:57

I have had a little go, but I have been spending too much time on MN lately and am trying to cut down. It is all the same old rubbish being trotted out there.

Same. I actually find it genuinely upsetting to see such inhumanity and I take it to heart when they turn on me. I shouldn't get sucked in as I don't have the ability to just brush off the nastiness. But sometimes I just can't help myself.

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2023 09:03

I don't have time this morning so just posting some facts on that thread before I go

Fladdermus don't let them get to you. You are a good person with a heart. They are not good people.

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2023 09:16

That polly one is a nasty one, just keep stating facts and keep the emotion out of it.

Don’t take it to heart. Personal attacks are that poster’s stock in trade. There can’t be many of us who haven’t been on the receiving end of them. It’s a nasty piece of work.

That won't be popular.

Oh yes. A wall round Britain would create loads of employment. And it would create more demand for builders, making it even harder to get new homes built. Which is good. As it helps hike the cost of housing. The housing market has been protected above everything else since the 1980s so we don't want to stop that now there's a cost of living crisis. Conservative mps private landlords are feeling the pinch. They need to be supported.

And, as an added bonus, the sea won't be able to get in so not need to worry about climate change.
What's that, how will ships land cargo? Oh bugger. Still, if the poor /disabled /elderly have to starve that should help the NHS and we can cut taxes. All good after all. And planes will be able to fly over the wall so jolly holidays for the rich won't be affected.

mibbelucieachwell · 26/09/2023 13:08

Aww @countrygirl99 you're being too pessimistic. Remember we grow a lot of turnips here.

RafaistheKingofClay · 26/09/2023 13:45

No no no. It’s the unelected labour government that’s causing the housing issue. If it weren’t for but Jeremy Corbyn there would be loads of housing.

Who was it that suggested a net rather than a wall?

mibbelucieachwell · 26/09/2023 14:03

Geee. I've just heard more detail of SB's speech. Fear of violence on account of being gay shouldn't confer asylum rights!

Is the act still fit for modern times? Eh, is SB fit for modern times?
