What troubles me is that most of Brand's career is now his Youtube channel, which is an absolute haven for conspiracy theorists and extreme right-wingers. I doubt the audience he has now are a) going to believe, or b) if they believe, even care about all this. The impact on his career, as it is now, isn't going to be that great.

If only all this had come out a decade ago, it probably would have finished him.

We had to put up with this type of stuff on mainstream tv back in the day, FOR YEARS. Despite being fully invested in comedy and popular culture back in the day I never put up with misogynistic crap like RB and Jon Ross and went along with it like the sheeple in the audience. Always thought it was vile ‘lad culture’.

Sitting watching - I believe them. Close friend of mine who works in a counselling/therapy type job, and is trained to work with rape and abuse survivors, has told me before how she listens to some of Russell Brand’s world views and watches him on YouTube. I feel physically sick, I confided in my friend about an assault that happened to me and she supported me through the hell that was reporting to the police. I don’t know what to think. I suppose she’s probably just been ignorant to it and there’s no way she could have even suspected, I’ve never watched him on YouTube but I do remember I used to find him funny a very long time ago.
