I said some. Please quote where I said all🤔

Not uncalled for anyway, why would it be? People have no accountability for what goes on in their own homes yet pack up everything when a member of another race has a fight with a black woman

It's a private matter between two people behaving poorly. We have bigger fish to fry in Peckham besides a fight that got out of control, which the police are dealing with.

Who are these people with no accountability for what goes on 'in their own homes' you are talking about? Black people?

@Imanimumsnet @MNHQ

The above is hate speech. Please remind this poster of your talking guidelines.

How is the Met arresting HER not evidence of racism

Presumably because she was shoplifting and assaulted him first ?????

Barbiesback · 14/09/2023 08:52

@PiIlock who is WE? I'm not even from London. What you are saying isn't for this particular topic. Let's not derail. I'm not engaging with foolishness. Start your own thread because you seem to have derailed.

Everything I don't like is hate speech. Yes ldnmummy.

I'm talking about my OWN experience as a black girl in a school in London. I and many other girls sexually assaulted. One boy stabbed to death in year 11. Next.

I must say I think YOU are the one struggling with comprehension. Not a wee bit either.
How in the name of God, is choking a black woman NOT evidence of racism. How is the Met arresting HER not evidence of racism. How is the 9 pages of 'whataboutary' on this thread not racism?

she violently assaulted the man repeatedly. Why were the police wrong to arrest her?

PiIlock · 14/09/2023 09:01

She has no fault and shouldn't be arrested. This is what no accountability is.

Why can't we admit that she did wrong and YET it doesn't excuse strangulation? Both 100% need to be prosecuted.

He shouldn’t have put his hands around her neck, definitely not.
But why are some posters here so determined to completely ignore any aggression from her side?
She tried to barge past him and pushed him when he was stopping her from leaving the shop.
She hit him around the head with the shopping basket till it came off its handle, and then later kept attacking him with said handle.
Why ignore all that?

Because it would be racist to accuse her of any wrong doing 🙄

It could be evidence of racism. Or of misogyny. Or maybe he loses his temper easily and is generally prone to violence. We don’t know.
Doesn’t mean that his behavior was okay.

Whichever way this whole incident goes, it’s not going to be good for anyone.

If she gets charged with assault and/or theft, then shopkeepers are going to think it’s ok to defend their property however they like and take the law into their own hands.

But If he gets charged with assault, then people are going to think it’s fine to shoplift because nobody can stop them.

Unfortunately in many similar cases, it has been female shop workers who have been assaulted by shoplifters and usually end up in hospital. The reason this incident was different is that the shop worker was a large powerful man and the shoplifter a small women. So she was not able to hurt him.

If it had been the other way around this would have ended very differently. Which is why I am trying to see the bigger picture because in the long run if it’s found out that she did shoplift, and she is held up as the victim, I am note sure this is going to be such a positive outcome for all those women who work in shops, often late at night.

Shoplifting isn't great for the rest of us who end up paying higher prices to cover these losses or lose local shops because they can't make a profit with the amount of shoplifting that is going on. There was a report on shoplifting on GMB this morning, someone asked what the security guards are doing if people are just walking out with stuff and the answer was the security guards are there to protect the staff not stop shoplifting. It is madness.

He shouldn't have put his hands round her neck but it looks like she attacked him, possibly thinking like some on here that she was fireproof as a man can't hit back, and he lost it.

This is the point. He shouldn't have done it but she wasn't blameless was she.

Exactly. A local town has lost lots of businesses and is now full of empty shops.
People like to blame online shopping, but at least in that particular town is also due to high levels of shoplifting and because the police do nothing about it.

misssunshine4040 · 14/09/2023 09:28

@Lndnmummy How in the name of God, is choking a black woman NOT evidence of racism"

This is evidence of violence against a woman.
Nothing more. Why does it matter her race? She wasn't targeted because she was black, she was targeted for being a thief.

The whatabouttery is coming from you "what if it was a white woman, this wouldn't have happened..." Rubbish

Why ignore all that?

Because it doesn't fit the narrative.

No one further up the thread even watched the full video before making comment.

It's insane and dangerous.

bombastix · 14/09/2023 09:39

Well it doesn't fit the victim narrative if you don't ignore what she did.

He was wrong. But so too was she.

I doubt either of them will be charged

inamarina · 14/09/2023 09:40

So she was not able to hurt him.

I don’t quite agree with that.
Repeatedly bashing someone in the face and around the head with a shopping basket will hurt them, no matter how much taller and stronger than you they are.
He should have handled it differently, but how can anyone claim she couldn’t have hurt him after watching the video?

misssunshine4040 · 14/09/2023 09:45

Because most people watches the small clip at the end of his hands round her neck that the press have posted to incite all this hatred.

No one bothered to watch the full video so they can make an educated opinion

bombastix · 14/09/2023 09:57

What does it tell us that no one wants to watch the full thing?

It's people running with their own emotions above what happened

Barbiesback · 14/09/2023 09:57

@misssunshine4040 people are entitled to have their own opinion which may differ from your own. We agree she shouldn't of stole however that level of force wasn't needed from the shop keeper

derxa · 14/09/2023 09:58

PenLidsOnTheFloor · 13/09/2023 09:53

He strangled her. He put his hands around her throat.

How is potential shoplifting a defence for that?

verb. To strangle someone means to kill them by squeezing their throat tightly so that they cannot breathe.

Who disagrees with this analysis? Anyone? 🦗

loislovesstewie · 14/09/2023 10:05

@misssunshine4040 I have tried to watch the whole video which is on several websites. I have tried to be reasonable in my comments.
And I don't subscribe to the view that no woman should ever be hit/slapped. A woman who has been the aggressor should expect to be slapped/ hit in return. The whole 'never hit a woman ' mantra really applies to DV etc, not people scrapping in public.

Justanotherlurker · 14/09/2023 10:08

I presume people have seen the footage?

Zeirdo 🌈 on X: "@NadineWrites @SistahSpace “He needs to go to jail” 👀 ⚠️ VIOLENCE ⚠️ t.co/z5yS2mkiz8" / X (twitter.com)

The age-old problem of Asian stores selling Black beauty products resurfaces. One of the causes of the Lozells riots in Birmingham in 2005 was attributed to this. We must develop coping mechanisms for situations like these if we want to live in a multicultural society.
