I don't know how many of you have come across this song already on social media but I wanted to share it because I feel like it's touched my soul in a way not many other songs have...

It's called Hi Ren...

Really interested in what people think about it...I'm not very emotional but it nearly brings me to tears every time I watch / listen to it

Any songs that do the same for you?

It’s interesting but I found it hard work to listen to i must admit. It’s not the sort of music I would choose to listen to, but it definitely has a place.

when it comes to emotional songs there are quite a few Radiohead/thom yorke songs that reduce me to tears.

Rod Stewart's "First Cut is the Deepest" always makes me cry

Bridge over troubled water, Simon & Garfunkel.
Somewhere over the rainbow. Every time. 😢
More recently … Memories by Maroon 5.

A toast to the ones here today, a toast to the ones we’ve lost along the way, because the drinks brings back all the memories.

It’s the number 1 reason I cannot drink - far too emotional for me. ✨✨

Its definitely not easy to listen to - I'd liken it more to an artistic performance than something you'd listen to on the radio.

Like (hard hitting) poetry that happens to be accompanied by music.

ll listen to some of these tomorrow (some of them I know, some I don't).

It's this bit that gets me every time...especially "I go by many names also, some people know me as hope, some people know me as the voice they hear when they loosen the noose on the rope"

As someone with MH issues that bit is the bit that moves me.

"Hi Ren, I've been taking some time to be distant
I've been taking some time to be still
I've been taking some time to be by myself
And I've spent half my life ill
But just as sure as the tide starts turning
Just as sure as the night has dawn
Just as sure as rainfall soon runs dry
When you stand in an eye of the storm
I was made to be tested and twisted
I was made to be broken and beat
I was made by His hand, it's all part of His plan
That I stand on my own two feet
And you know me, my will is eternal
And you know me, you've met me before
Face to with a beast, I will rise from the east
And I'll settle on the ocean floor
And I go by many names also
Some people know me as "hope"
Some people know me as the voice that you hear
When you loosen the noose on the rope
And you know how I know how I know that I'll prosper?
'Cause I stand here beside you today
I have stood in the flames that cremated my brain
And I didn't once flinch or shake
So cower at the man I've become, when I sing from the top of my lungs
That I won't retire, I'll stand in your fire, inspire the weak to be strong
And when I am gone, I will rise, in the music that I left behind
Ferocious persistent, immortal like you, we're a coin with two different sides"

I absolutely love this song. I've suffered with anxiety for a long time ... These lyrics are absolutely spot on and have had thia on repeat for a good few hours before now. Come to think of it, all of Rens music is amazing he's gifted for sure!!! One more reason I love him is because he's from where I live in Brighton 😊

Nina Simone - Feeling Good

Thomas Dybdahl - Rise in Shame

And this, the live version of One Day You'll Dance for Me, New York City. It is gorgeous. The trumpet is just exquisitely beautiful. I listen to it every time my soul needs lifting.

In your hands - Nick Mulvey, I just love it so much

I’m not a fan of slow songs, but ‘Strong’ by London Grammar gets me every time.

Also, ‘The Story’ by Brandi Carlisle, although that may be because of the emotional storyline it was used for in Grey’s Anatomy!

If this is Goodbye by Mark knopfler and Emmylou Harris.
Mark Knopfler wrote this after learning about the phone calls made by victims of 09/11.
