I don't know how many of you have come across this song already on social media but I wanted to share it because I feel like it's touched my soul in a way not many other songs have...

It's called Hi Ren...

Really interested in what people think about it...I'm not very emotional but it nearly brings me to tears every time I watch / listen to it

Any songs that do the same for you?

A different vibe to songs suggested upthread but it makes me nostalgic for good times, good friends and raves of many moons ago. Silver skies turning blue....

Shola Ama's version of Noel Coward's "Someday I'll find you". Hauntingly beautiful.

Wasn't Expecting That by Jamie Lawson. The ending gets me every time.

Beautiful Boy - John Lennon. Reminds me of when my son was born prematurely, it played in my head constantly when I sat beside his incubator.

Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins. Nice memories of cinema trips with my mum and this was one of her favourites.

Space by Biffy Clyro. Just beautiful makes me want to cry when I hear it. I'm talking about the version with the orchestra. I don't know if there's another version but it won't be better than that.

Ocean Eyes
Erykah Badu - she's a bit of a mad genius but her voice and music are superb

and in the opposite direction we have a beautiful and under rated Queen song. I cried when I heard this for the 1st time recently.

The song James Blunt wrote for his dad. I can't listen without crying. Mine died when I was a child and that and Dance with my father are painful to listen to.

Meat Loads For Crying Out Loud, such an emotional song by a master

YES. You're the only person besides myself that I've ever seen post about this song.

Loadofoldshart · 24/09/2023 02:22

Cats in the cradle - ugly kid Joe
old man - Neil young

Loadofoldshart · 24/09/2023 02:24

Oh and the script if you could see me now

Not necessarily all sad songs for me!

Canon in D, played by a live string quartet or lone violinist busking, which I walked down the aisle to with my father.

I Dreamed a Dream in Les Miserables - again, live performance with an orchestra.

Another musical theatre one but The Circle of Life sang by the cast of The Lion King is so beautiful.

Everybody’s Free sang by Quindon Tarver in Romeo & Juliet.

A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman for all its hopefulness and warmth. Reminds me of my hopes for my little one.

Slipping Through My Fingers by Abba - I have a daughter.

TiredCatLady · 24/09/2023 03:59

Also really fed up of that song - sorry OP. It’s been very well marketed in its own way.

Agree with a PP about Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy.
The Verve - Love Is Noise.
Bjork - Joga.

Have seen all of above live in various places over the years and, well, they touch the soul.
I have another song (ok two) that has a huge impact on me but I’ll keep that for me.

TiredCatLady · 24/09/2023 04:00

And there are some really good ones on here.

MrsHughesPinny · 24/09/2023 04:07

Jesus Christ by Brand New.

MangosteenSoda · 24/09/2023 04:08

The James Blunt song a PP mentioned is called Monsters and it makes me cry too.

There’s a Taylor Swift song called Ronan that I’ve only heard once or twice but it had me crying big snotty tears.
