Songs that actually touch your soul and give goose bumps?

I don't know how many of you have come across this song already on social media but I wanted to share it because I feel like it's touched my soul in a way not many other songs have...

It's called Hi Ren...

Really interested in what people think about it...I'm not very emotional but it nearly brings me to tears every time I watch / listen to it

Any songs that do the same for you?

Silly really but Drinking White Wine in the Sun by Tim Minchin reduces me to a blubbering wreck.

Me too! Everytime! I did a year In Australia and really missed my family at Christmas so really pulls

Caledoniadreaming · 06/09/2023 09:21

Agree with a PP about Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, and Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits.

Not so much a song, but Hector the Hero. Played on the fiddle/violin - goosebumps for days.

The Living Years by Mike & The Mechanics makes me cry every time I hear it 🥺

And I very much. I was a child when it came out and yet I knew the scenario in the song would play out in my life. My dad was dead a year before anyone told me. I don't think I could listen to it now. Always good to cry at 9.25 am hey x

Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton

I love this too, especially when my Dad used to play it, he's the most amazing guitarist but recently had to stop due to arthritis in his thumb, it's very odd but hearing him okay these days .

Really don't like the song in the OP, makes me very tense and had to stop watching half way through. Funny how music affects us differently.

Madonna - The Power Of Good-Bye

Especially when realising a relationship will never work and you need to walk away.

Giggorata · 06/09/2023 09:55

I have a playlist, too, which include things like Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, preferably the live Pulse concert version with that incredible guitar solo and the Er Barme Dich aria from Bach's St Matthew Passion.

But the number one that moves my soul is Gortoz a Ran, with Denez Prigent and Lisa Gerrard. The words are moving if you look them up; they are in Denez's native Breton. But the overall sound of their voices, heavy with emotion, get me every time.

There was a thread like this the other night which got deleted for being started by a troll Confused

I'm definitely not a troll, have been on here ages and have lots of threads!

Weird thread for a troll to start?

@wheresmymojo Yep- an odd troll one !!

The Hebrew Slaves Chorus from Nabucco by Guiseppe Verdi. I saw it being performed at Opera in the Park in Leeds many years ago and it was a real goose bumps moment.

Also, Au Fond du Temple Saint from The Pearl Fishers by Bizet.

I usually listen to more modern music, but it doesn't give me the goose bumps the way these two pieces do.

MuckyPlucky · 06/09/2023 10:16

After the Gold Rush - Neill Young. Reminds me of a loved one who died too soon.

I See A Darkness - Bonnie Prince Billy.

Avatartar · 06/09/2023 10:24

One-U2 & Mary J Blige, I think it’s more powerful than the original

BeverleyMacker · 06/09/2023 10:27

Cry little sister by G Tom Mac (Lost boys soundtrack) 😍😍😍

HoneyPotts · 06/09/2023 10:30

Dirty by Christina Aguilera - gets me every time.

LetMeGoogleThat · 06/09/2023 10:31

Wires by Athlete. My mum was dying in hospital when it was in the charts and everytime I drove up it would be on the radio. The line 'Frst time in your life, curled up on your own' absolutely breaks me to this day.

The Living Years by Mike & The Mechanics makes me cry every time I hear it 🥺

Same here, it makes me think of my Dad and how I didn't get to tell him I loved him before he died. Bummer that.

TooOldForAllThisNonsense · 06/09/2023 10:38

Sorry, OP, I couldn't listen to more than about a minute of that song. I hate it.
Mine are -
Creep - Radiohead
Everybody hurts - REM
Mother - John Lennon
Leave out all the rest - Linkin Park
Sylvia's mother - Dr Hook

BerfyTigot · 06/09/2023 10:40

Soon you'll get better. Taylor swift and Dixie chicks.

Having been very ill this year, it just reminds me of an awful time, and I can't help sobbing.

Underworld: Caliban’s Dream

LardoBurrows · 06/09/2023 10:49

@Ghostjail Thank you 🙏 for posting that. I absolutely love Sandy Denny's voice and that song is so beautiful and definitely gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.

Going Back by Dusty Springfield and Albatross by Fleetwood Mac, both make me feel nostalgic for my youth.

Yeah trolls are strange these days. It puts me off contributing to threads because they just vanish which is probably their aim.

ABBA - Move On
ABBA - My Love, My Life

AnchorWHAT · 06/09/2023 12:15

How do i say goodbye by Dean Lewis, first line and I am sobbing.

BrandNewBicep · 06/09/2023 12:36

I love I Know I'm Not The Only One by Sam Smith. Very moving and Dianna Agron is excellent at portraying a deceived wife.
