Films that you point blank refuse to watch (or watch again)

I don't mean due to boredom I mean just utterly distressing:

NEVER. Kes. So a lonely little boy finds joy in an innocent bird who loves him back only for his cunt of a brother to kill it, right? I'll pass thanks.

Harry Brown. One of the most violent, depressingly upsetting films I've ever seen. Never again.

NEVER. A Serbian Film. No thanks. Googling the plot was horrific enough.

Dumbo. Never in my life have I wanted to jump through a screen to protect and adopt a cartoon character. Same with Fox & Hound.

Tyranasaur, utterly traumatic, never again.

The most recent Joker film, found it incredibly disturbing & having had family members with severe mental health issues just too close to the bone for me.

Marley & Me 😩

LegendsBeyond · 05/09/2023 20:57

Eden Lake

AndTheSurveySays · 05/09/2023 20:58

The girl next door
Megan is missing

Why did I not just turn them off? Horrible films that leave you with that sick haunted feeling.

Rockfordpeach · 05/09/2023 20:58

The girl with a dragon tattoo. A very graphic rape scene that really distressed me

Petrarkanian · 05/09/2023 20:58

Anything by Lars von Trier. I'll never forget Bjork singing at the end of Dancer in the Dark, traumatic.

Botanica · 05/09/2023 20:58

Million Dollar Baby. Watched it years ago and still can't get it out of my mind.

pictoosh · 05/09/2023 20:59

Mama Mia. I'm a big Abba fan...saw a clip and thought it looked absolutely dire.

Unusualactualname · 05/09/2023 21:00

Schindlers List. Just can't. Same with Sophie's Choice.

The Railway Children. Bobby's cry of 'daddy, my daddy' just went straight through me. My dad died 55 years ago.

puffylovett · 05/09/2023 21:00

The human centipede.
traumatised for life..!

SisterMichaelsHabit · 05/09/2023 21:01

Things I've seen:
Sucker Punch
Clockwork Orange
Batman Begins (way overboard with the fire)

Things I haven't seen:
Anything with "saw" in the title.
Anything suggesting that hills have eyes.
Anything implying that humans can become trans-centipedes.
The one where the kid shoots Old Yeller at the end. Screw that.

I actually really like a good horror film but not the weird torture porn ones that were big for a while. And shooting the dog just isn't a mindset I can get behind.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 05/09/2023 21:01

Paranormal activity. I watched a pre release screening through work. I went home, and stayed awake all night on the sofa with all the lights on.

Candyman. I watched it as a teen and didnt sleep fully for at least three weeks after.

Horror films are not my thing!

LookingForPurpose · 05/09/2023 21:01

The last house on the left.

Candy man.

Bernedetta.

Boxing Helena.

The hills have eyes.

BlueThursday · 05/09/2023 21:02

My brother bought A Clockwork Orange when it got its re-release.

it never moved from the point we stopped it in disgust

Yes. I knew the plot before watching with DW. When she saw them sewn together, then asked with all innocence "but what happens when they need to poo?" and realising half way through saying the sentence what the answer was! 🤣

Just googled Tyranasaur. Yeah. Fuck that.

Anything with horror, graphic violence/sadistic cruelty.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 05/09/2023 21:04

Deliverance was many years ago saw it and it was traumatizing to watch it, the male rape scene where the rednecks raped the man and made him squeal like a pig, so disturbing.

8008less · 05/09/2023 21:04

IT.

Watched it aged 13, still think about it thirty years later. I hate scary films.

Puffypuffin · 05/09/2023 21:04

A Clockwork Orange. Got about halfway through it and turned off, would very watch it again.

Gemmanorthdevon · 05/09/2023 21:05

Marley and me - it isn't happening

Never ending story. - nope.

Watership down - never again.

Casino - the bit at the end with the baseball bats finished me. Again, never again.

Vanilla sky - I found this deeply distressing and I don't even know why...

NooNakedJacuzziness · 05/09/2023 21:05

I will never sit through Requiem for a Dream again - harrowing

thefirstmrsrochester · 05/09/2023 21:06

Megan is Missing
Eden Lake

The plausibility or both horrify me.

CoffeeMakesTheWorldBetter · 05/09/2023 21:06

Wolf Creek I think it’s called. I still have nightmares about it now.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 05/09/2023 21:06

Also the Barbie Movie.
The marketing didn't inspire me at all.

my82my · 05/09/2023 21:09

Martyrs (fucked up depressing horror film)

The Exorcist (As horror films go it's brilliant, I watched it years ago and it took me months to not have it play on my mind)

Any True crime with children (I watched The trials of Gabrielle Fernandez on Netflix and my god! To sad and it feels wrong to witness now that it's to late.)
