Films that you point blank refuse to watch (or watch again)

I don't mean due to boredom I mean just utterly distressing:

NEVER. Kes. So a lonely little boy finds joy in an innocent bird who loves him back only for his cunt of a brother to kill it, right? I'll pass thanks.

Harry Brown. One of the most violent, depressingly upsetting films I've ever seen. Never again.

NEVER. A Serbian Film. No thanks. Googling the plot was horrific enough.

Dumbo. Never in my life have I wanted to jump through a screen to protect and adopt a cartoon character. Same with Fox & Hound.

Sophie's Choice.

A Serbian Film. Read the plot on Wikipedia. Fuck. That. Shit.

I just read A Serbian Films plot on Wiki. Omg, what kind of person even thinks up this stuff, let alone makes a film out of it?? And actors read the script and said "yep, I'd like to be associated with a film like that". And then people actually watched it as a form of entertainment!!

Absolutely sick.

Someone ought to be monitoring the director of that film very fucking closely.

Drews · 05/09/2023 21:56

Lord of the Rings. I'd lose the will to live if Id have to watch that.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 05/09/2023 21:56

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 05/09/2023 21:57

Came to say human centipede. Fucking awful

dontforgetme · 05/09/2023 21:57

Pressed post to soon.

One film I will never watch again is Beasts of No Nation. Couldn't get it out of my head for days.

MaggieBsBoat · 05/09/2023 21:59

The Orphanage. Too sad for words.

Any violence porn horror. Screw that.

As PP, Come and See. Traumatic in every way despite being beautiful.

I love all of Lars von Trier films but can only watch them once each. Especially Dancer In The Dark. I wept at the end of that.

LadyKenya · 05/09/2023 22:02

Also the Amityville horror. I think that I can manage to go through the rest of my life without seeing it again😁

Ilovelemonandsugarpancakes · 05/09/2023 22:02

Castaway

Wolf Creek I think it’s called. I still have nightmares about it now.

Me and dh love that film

egowise · 05/09/2023 22:06

I'm not easily bothered by film, however I watched 'A Serbian Film' to a certain point. I almost physically vomited and that's not hyperbole.

Marley and me is not a family film

robinsnest1967 · 05/09/2023 22:06

Marley & me and Joker

peanutcrumble · 05/09/2023 22:08

Irreversible. That rape scene put me into a depressive mood for a few weeks after watching it. Hats off to Monica bellucci though her acting had me believing I was witnessing an actual rape 🤦🏻‍♀️

hennaoj · 05/09/2023 22:08

Solaris - Why we didn't walk out the cinema, I'll never know. 2 hours of my life I'll never get back, watching paint dry is less boring.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - wtf was going on?
Everything, Everywhere all at once - ditto, pointless clearly made in order to win awards.

Pibrea · 05/09/2023 22:11

Million Dollar Baby, watched it when I was 11 and sobbed for hours after, will never forget it. Also Cast Away, specifically when he loses Wilson.

Melminiani · 05/09/2023 22:12

Like others, I can’t watch horror or any kind of torture or cruelty. Also, am shit with children or animals being hurt/dying… basically there’s a lot I can’t watch.

Never again: Requiem for a Dream and City of God spring immediately to mind.

Lagershandy · 05/09/2023 22:12

The Revenant, utterly depressing.

TotalOverhaul · 05/09/2023 22:15

The Shining. I've tried. But Jack Nicholson gives me the creeps at the best of times. And those corridors. I just can't.

Floogal · 05/09/2023 22:16

Precious (with Monique). Soooo nasty. How much bad luck does she have?

Threads and When the wind blows.

No Child of Mine (Brooke Kinsella). I remember a lot of the kids at school talking about it. Watched it on YouTube few years ago. Very horrible.

Never want to see the whole film, but saw the shit eating scene from Salo.
Curious about Grave of the fireflies (Japanese animated film about starvation during the war) but sounds harrowing and sad.

Itwasntmeguv · 05/09/2023 22:18

I'm with you on Dumbo - and Bambi. I've never trusted myself to watch either of them!

A friend and I took her little ones to see a film years ago - I didn't really know what we were going to see, but assumed it was a kid's film as they were very young. It turned out to be a film about that dog in Edinburgh who never left his owner's graveside when he passed away. and he was awarded freedom of the city or something similar? Oh my god, I actually had to get up and walk out halfway through. In my defence, I had recently spent 10 weeks in hospital and was probably a bit of an emotional wreck from that, but I'd never risk watching it again 😭😭

Edit -- it's just come to me 'Greyfriars Bobby'

colouringindoors · 05/09/2023 22:18

Se7en.

So grim.

MariaVT65 · 05/09/2023 22:18

Another vote for Marley and Me. Never again.

I had a golden lab at the time and it took me 30 mins to stop crying in the cinema toilets afterwards.

Nat6999 · 05/09/2023 22:18

Seen

Jaws watched it when I was about 10 or 11, was terrified of anything involving water for years

The Omen frightened me to death

I spit on your grave saw as a teenager & gave me nightmares

smokingcarriageonly · 05/09/2023 22:22
