Films that you point blank refuse to watch (or watch again)

I don't mean due to boredom I mean just utterly distressing:

NEVER. Kes. So a lonely little boy finds joy in an innocent bird who loves him back only for his cunt of a brother to kill it, right? I'll pass thanks.

Harry Brown. One of the most violent, depressingly upsetting films I've ever seen. Never again.

NEVER. A Serbian Film. No thanks. Googling the plot was horrific enough.

Dumbo. Never in my life have I wanted to jump through a screen to protect and adopt a cartoon character. Same with Fox & Hound.

To add to the list above, Blood Diamond. Good film but those poor kids.....

Turtlegurl888 · 05/09/2023 21:12

Bone Tomahawk 🤢

Dontknowwhyidoit · 05/09/2023 21:13

The Dark Crystal, was traumatised as a child by that film. 50 shades of grey as I don't agree with being dominated for many reasons

Turtlegurl888 · 05/09/2023 21:13

Also, The Road.
I don't enjoy apocalyptic movies at the best of times, they play on my mind. I've read the book too and it's nowhere near as traumatising as the film is.

martha4clark · 05/09/2023 21:13

Schindler's List, The Accused

Crankitupanotch · 05/09/2023 21:14

Anything that's too violently gory. I've read about Bone Tomahawk being particularly gruesome, despite it apparently have a great plot. But the description of one particular scene made me realise I couldn't watch it.

Gangster No.1 - just too much graphic violence and gore

I can't watch any of those awful torture based films - Saw, Hostel etc. Films made for the sole purpose of gratuitous violence against innocent victims - I don't get whats enjoyable about it.

Globules · 05/09/2023 21:14

I will never watch Uncut Gems, thanks to XHs bastard behaviour.

I, Daniel Blake. Never again. Too harrowing a watch, knowing it's a reality for several people in our country.

BorgQueen · 05/09/2023 21:17

Mum and Dad.
Makes what Fred and Rose West did look like a pleasant picnic. Horrible, vile film, really upsetting.
Ditto The seasoning house.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 05/09/2023 21:17

Meant to add to my post I know it is not a film but a drama series that always played on my mind This Is England by Shane Meadows, one scene so disturbing was when the young woman went into the caravan with 3 much older men and they got her to smoke heroin, she vomited, then they injected her and all took turns to rape her, it was so harrowing as she was so vulnerable and I just found it horrific and played on my mind for a long time as they knew the minute they saw her what they were going to do to her. Any violence towards women really upsets me and add the sexual violence more so.

eandz13 · 05/09/2023 21:20

I won't watch Sophie's Choice since I learned about the choice. Who actively chooses to put themselves through that?

Midsommar because it was wank and I'll never get those couple hours of my life back. Fuck you Rotten Tomatoes

I won't watch the Final Destinations again because I just don't need that paranoia in my life, I drink way too much caffeine for that kind of agitation.

shitetatts · 05/09/2023 21:20

A Serbian Film.

CatMattress · 05/09/2023 21:22

The Green Mile.

Nope.

Globules · 05/09/2023 21:22

I was going to watch Tyrannosaur this week, as I thought it looked interesting from this list I read a few days ago.

BB2023 · 05/09/2023 21:23

Green Mile. I just can't! 😭

crackofdoom · 05/09/2023 21:24

Amores Perros (mega violent Mexican film about dog fighting)
No Country for Old Men.

my82my · 05/09/2023 21:24

@BorgQueen
I'd erased Mum and Dad from my memory.
I watched it years ago... shocking.

meditated · 05/09/2023 21:26

Head On (German- Turkish movie) cannot forget or would rewatch many years since seeing it.

I refuse to watch any horror movies.

SirChenjins · 05/09/2023 21:26

La La Land - not distressing obviously, just the absolute wrong ending. I really expected them to end up together after such a joyous, happy musical - instead it turned out to be just another failed romance which I know is more realistic but so not what I wanted.

MagpiePi · 05/09/2023 21:31

Blue Velvet. I watched it 35 years ago and still shudder.

Dougal and the Blue Cat, can’t remember anything about it apart from them being in a dungeon. I must have been 3 or 4.

SlimGin · 05/09/2023 21:32

Under The Skin simply due to the baby on the beach scene. The rest of the film was probably alright but I had to turn it off after that as my mind was going into overdrive. I think about it every time I go to a UK beach.

TheInterceptor · 05/09/2023 21:34

Pan's Labyrinth (shudder)

SuiGeneris · 05/09/2023 21:34

Clockwork Orange

Four months, three weeks and two days

Anything gory, violent, about crime, about arguments or very emotional. I have enough emotion in my life without seeking out that of others.

And yes, it rules out 95% of available TV/film.

grayhairdontcare · 05/09/2023 21:34

Irreversible... The rape scene still haunts me.

LadyKenya · 05/09/2023 21:34

Splice, just awful.
The Exorcist, just a cold, empty film, I think.

Albioncreed · 05/09/2023 21:35

Any films with torture in then
