30 degrees next week just as everyone goes back to school and work

It’s the same every year! Boiling hot when everyone is back at school and work. Even more annoying this year when the weather has been so crap!

Not looking forward to commuting in the heat.

!! Indeed.

Datdamndamp · 03/09/2023 10:07

I hate the bloody weather. I'm taking it personally. Been waiting to paint and re-roof a cabin all summer and there hasn't been a dry spell all the time I've been off.

Back at work Monday.

Boomboom22 · 03/09/2023 10:07

At least we will get some before autumn closes in!

EucalyptusAndOranges · 03/09/2023 10:08

The six weeks seem to be timed so that we get the coldest/rainiest bit of the British summer but unbearable heat abroad. It would be so lovely to have the kids off in June or September - nicer if you do go abroad but also much more likely to have good weather if you stay home. I wish they'd rearrange the school year - not reducing the amount of holiday, but redistributing it!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 03/09/2023 10:10

It can fuck right off. If I controlled the weather, it would be cooling down and feeling autumnal from 1 September. I don't like any temperature over 22 ° 😂 and then only in summer.

It's distinctly chilly early in the mornings, too, so hard to dress for.

I work all year round, so do most people I imagine

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/09/2023 10:12

DS's birthday next week. Always a heatwave. There's never been a cloud in the sky for 15 years.

Desecratedcoconut · 03/09/2023 10:13

I love warm days in September, it feels like bonus summer and it's good to end on a high note before we go in to Autumn.

Yeah it's often warm in the first bit of September

lavenderlou · 03/09/2023 10:13

Seems to happen every year. Better dig out the fan I took into my classroom last term which I brought home for the summer in case we needed it (and was never hot enough to use!).

GetToTheChopperrr · 03/09/2023 10:14

At least I can get all the coats, duvets, blankets and bulky stuff washed and dried ready for October!

RampantIvy · 03/09/2023 10:15

30 degrees where the OP lives. We have a perfect 24 degrees forecast in South Yorkshire, and I have just booked the week off.

We haven't had a full week of nice weather since June.

BusinessClass · 03/09/2023 10:15

Most people work all
year 😂

I love September weather - it's nearly always a good weather month.

Legocrayola · 03/09/2023 10:15

Most people have actually been in work the last six weeks. But yes it is sods law.

I split up with STBXH just before the summer holidays. The days I was off with the kids, I had Covid, next to no money while waiting for universal credit claim to come through, weather was absolutely vile and then my car broke down. Of course the days he was off with them it was glorious sunshine and he got to take them on loads of days out. 😡

SittingOnTheChair · 03/09/2023 10:15

I'm going on holiday!

Same

DavinaTheDreadful · 03/09/2023 10:18

So annoying isn't it? I work in a school and I'm a bit gutted.

I also had sorted out my wardrobe for work and didn't really include much summer stuff! I'll probably end up in the same dress all week.

Tjjd2023 · 03/09/2023 10:20

Obviously OP is assuming that a lot of people use much of their annual leave around the time their kids are off school. Not really that hard to understand she probably doesn't think it's everyone.🤨
I've just had a week off work so it does feel like it's waited for my return!😏 glad I work PT so can enjoy it with my little one a bit. It doesn't do this every September so I'm grateful nonetheless!

JumpingQueen · 03/09/2023 10:20

It’s so frustrating. Happens nearly every year now, I think the summer holidays should be switched 😂

Our week off at the start of August it just rained and was miserable…kids first day back at school it’s 25 degrees…nearly every weekend has been absolutely miserable

We are off paddle boarding today as it’s going to be 24/25 degrees and we haven’t been able to make the most of our membership this year due to be diabolical weather 😞

I do have plans to wash all the duvets and pillows/blankets (basically autumn and winter stuff) and have it all dried this week!!

BCBird · 03/09/2023 10:20

My ex used to say this. It's the sign the kids break up- weather will be crap.

ShellySarah · 03/09/2023 10:21

Who hasn't been at work for the entire summer holidays?

I'm going on a stay cation this week so perfect.

SecretVictoria · 03/09/2023 10:23

Bloody typical. I’m on late shift so have no chance to enjoy it. The following week, im
on earlies and it’s forecast to be cold and rainy 🙄.

Phos · 03/09/2023 10:23

It definitely does seem to happen that way! Pre-kids we always used to book a UK break in September and it was invariably lovely.

HollieHobbie · 03/09/2023 10:24

September is usually lovely and warm. You'd go back to school in your full uniform and go home carrying your cardigan as it was so hot!

As I took early retirement 6 years ago I'm looking forward to sitting in the garden in the good weather.

Me too. We're going on holiday tomorrow. DD doesn't go back to College until the week after we get back so it will be good to have a lovely family break, with good weather as an added bonus.

We used to have September holidays when the DC were babies, and they were all lovely warm weather, with days at the beach.
