30 degrees next week just as everyone goes back to school and work

It’s the same every year! Boiling hot when everyone is back at school and work. Even more annoying this year when the weather has been so crap!

Not looking forward to commuting in the heat.

It's going to be 18-21 here in the balmy NE. Don't think we will melt at work or school

TheAloe · 03/09/2023 10:26

It’s a joke. We time the holidays for the dullest part of our summer and the hottest heat abroad. Not looking forward to the sweaty classrooms again. FFS.

TheAloe · 03/09/2023 10:28

And who cares if most people work all year? I don’t. It’s just shit for kids though. But who cares about kids sweating in schools.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 03/09/2023 10:31

I'm glad because it means the heating will be off for longer and the bills will be cheaper for longer :)

Crinkle77 · 03/09/2023 10:31

So annoying especially as I've had this last week off 👿

Iamonholiday · 03/09/2023 10:31

Where’s the positivity? Surely it’s better than the kids going back and it’s pissing down with rain. They finish at 3/3:30pm! Still plenty of time to play at the park / loiter round town depending on their age. I’m just glad it’s not cold and wet.

It can fuck right off. If I controlled the weather, it would be cooling down and feeling autumnal from 1 September. I don't like any temperature over 22 ° 😂 and then only in summer.

It's distinctly chilly early in the mornings, too, so hard to dress for.

Totally agree. I'm all ready (mentally) for Autumn, don't need ridiculous heatwaves now!

justasking111 · 03/09/2023 12:29

Living in Wales it will be around 20c checking out the weather. Clothing is a juggling act isn't it

OhYetAnotherBrickInTheWall · 03/09/2023 12:31

Can’t wait! This is why I bloody love WFH! And it’ll mean a beautiful autumn - all the gold and red leaves and trees 🍁🍂🍁

Mumof1andacat · 03/09/2023 12:39

Pre ds, we always had a week off in September. The weather was always nice. The way the school year is calculated needs looking at. There is no need off for 6 weeks in the summer anymore. I think 2 weeks at may half term, 4 weeks summer holiday and 2 weeks in October.

RampantIvy · 03/09/2023 12:41

It's a shame it has happened after a rubbish summer and all the children are going back to school, but it isn't going to be 30 degrees everywhere, and I welcome a respite from the miserable weather.

I'm sat in the garden in low twenties degree warmth in shorts, drinking an iced coffee. I have curtains drying on the line. What's not to like? (Wasps excepted)

IsNowTheTime · 03/09/2023 12:42

Not everyone had six weeks summer break!!

Crunchymum · 03/09/2023 12:45

Serves me right for ironing all the trousers / shirts for the kids return.

I have had to dig out and wash (and will need to iron) their summer gear.... that got packed away in July!!

Winterday1991 · 03/09/2023 12:51

Who are all these people that only work term time. Most people work all year round

slavetothekittens · 03/09/2023 12:51

Forecast for around 24-25° next week here, am so looking forward to some warm sunshine. Was so nearly going to put the summer clothes away.

Why does it need washing? Don't you put it away clean?

Dontcallmescarface · 03/09/2023 12:55

Looking forward to it. I'm on earlies next week so will spend the afternoons in the garden with a good book and not have to hear the constant bickering/screaming/yelling from the neighbour's DC as they will (thankfully), be back at school.

Coolblur · 03/09/2023 12:55

Your point is fair enough, it is typical of British weather. However some UK kids have already been back at school for a couple of weeks already, many people have to work throughout the school hols, and if it gets as hot as 30 degrees here (Scotland) something isn't right!
Just enjoy what you can of the good weather, look forward to sitting in the garden (if you have one) or plan a walk, trip to the park etc. pre or post work each day.

DrMarshaFieldstone · 03/09/2023 12:56

Gosh, so many people on this thread who apparently don’t receive their statutory annual leave entitlement.

Hmm
Twentytwo22 · 03/09/2023 12:56

I like warm days in autumn because its usually still cool enough at night time to sleep. Hate hot muggy days in summer!

I did but I vacuum packed it (I was that confident summer was over) so ran it through a quick wash when I dug it out - it had to be ironed so may as well be freshened up as well.

Probably more psychological than anything as usually when I unpack it, it's been away for 10 months 😂

WhatCameFirstTheChickenOrTheDickhead · 03/09/2023 13:00

Yep there's a reason I always book the first week of September off! Means if we can't afford a holiday abroad (like this year) we generally get nice weather wherever we've decided to go in the UK instead. Off to North Yorkshire this week and it's looking lovely.

daisybrown37 · 03/09/2023 13:00

Sorry, it is my fault - I brought a new winter coat…

Finallybreathe · 03/09/2023 13:00

Who’s most people? Everyone has been at work

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/09/2023 13:05

Bonus summer - I love it!

The weather doesn't become autumnal the moment schools go back. I remember in the early nineties we would often be in summer uniform (SE England) for at least the first month of autumn term, sometimes longer.
