What dumb thing has taken you forever to realise?

Nights in white satin song was playing in the car today. A favourite song of mine so I was singing along and it dawned on me that the word is "nights," not "knights".

Whole song makes much more sense now 😳

I had a similar issue with "Toyota, the car in front" but it's a Nissan I'm behind (or other car brand).

And in the film Winnie the Pooh where the gopher says "I'm not in the book" and I thought it was the phone book😬 for decades!

I promise I'm intelligent.

I had a neighbour in the early 90s, who was very artistic. She made mosaics, did macrame, crochet etc and made us some macrame hanging baskets.

I saw her in gym gear several times and she said she was going to her spinning class. I thought she was making wool....

Spinn8ng classes - i genuinly thought they were just twirling around in circles.
God knows why they called sitting on stationary bicycles spinning!

I was a voracious reader of Greek myths when younger, but had never heard the names of the characters spoken out loud. I think it was a University challenge I was watching and thinking "oh brilliant.my subject" and then not recognising any of the names that tipped me off.
It took me ten years at the school I worked at to realise that N was north block, C was central and S was south.

Yosemite used to be one of my favourite passwords, it caused all sorts of problems when I had to say it over the phone, I was often told it was wrong.

I did used to think it was pronounced as spelt, even watching Bugs Bunny battle "Yosemitty" Sam didn't correct me, I thought he was being all yee haw and American.

It's one of the things that keeps the class system alive and kicking in this country @Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride.So few people now have access to classical education & it's usually via grammar schools or because their parents have paid for private schooling. But only recognising a word or name by sight is a good sign that means a person is a reader or intellectually curious, so don't worry about it!

When I first heard about spin classes, I thought it was some kind of gym class where people twirled around like whirling dervishes.

Anyone else see "shopfitting" on a van and read it as "shoplifting"? My brain starts wondering why they are advertising this then the penny drops.

ME!!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
