People your DCs have renamed

My DD, almost 4, met a little boy today at holiday club named 'Feelings'.
She chatted about him all the way home - what she played with Feelings, what Feelings said, etc.
After some confusion I worked out that her new friend's name was in fact FELIX.
Has anyone else had a child rename a friend like this?!

DD talking about kids programme asked if Iggle Piggle's name was Iggle Wiggle and my DS has nicknamed one of our neighbours Stan Lee as he's bald and wears glasses Grin

Oh and another one DS thought his teacher in S1 was Mr Flaps Patrick of course it was Fitzpatrick, he just wasn't listening

Many decades ago my son had a schoolfriend Juglus - turned out to be a Greek Georgios.

My 4 year old had London, but she actually was London.

Again many decades ago, my son had a school friend called London who was American.

i hear a lot about a boy at sports club called ‘gravity’, took a while to work out he’s actually Rafferty 😂

imnotthatkindofmum · 25/08/2023 10:40

My daughter had identical twins at nursery called Sam and Jake. Or samenjake according to my daughter. Just one name for both of them.

WutheredOut · 25/08/2023 10:44

Show ‘n’ Tell (Chantelle)

RockAndRollerskate · 25/08/2023 10:47

“Treasure” for Trevor.

My littlest just calls all the nursery workers by his favourite ones name (e.g. (they are all “Emma”), despite being perfectly capable of pronouncing and remembering them all!

gertrudemortimer · 25/08/2023 10:50

In nursery my ds 3 was always talking about a boy called chef. Dp collected ds and said 'hi chef' in front of boys mum, turned out he was called Seth! Another child he always called sheriff and we never could figure out the actual name.

Granny has officially been renamed Gary by all of her Grandchildren after one DGC child not being able to say it properly...
Poor Gary 😂

blahblahhhh · 25/08/2023 10:53

Dazzle (Basil)

Freshia · 25/08/2023 11:10

Home-made - should have been Holmes-Wade.

Dd thought Katy was Tasty.

My brother thought our optician Mr Bhattacharya was Mr Battery Charger. This amused Mr Bhattacharya so much that when I went for an eye test 15 years later he had not forgotten and insisted on me calling him Mr Battery Charger. I was 18. Mortified.

I had a reception school mum ask me how 'Carrot' was settling in. I was a little thrown so just answered that he was a bit tired but really enjoying it. On going home and realising I'd just inadvertently renamed my child as a vegetable, I did the sensible gown up thing and ordered a personalised backpack with his name (Kurt) in 3 inch letters.

Ours apparently had a child called Benorfio.

Twins again. Ben and/or Theo.

This made me 😂out loud. I thought you were going to say you got the backpack with carrot on it.

Ds was adamant that a class mate was called Sad - it was Zaid

NotMadeOfStone · 25/08/2023 11:39

A new kid at nursery was apparently called Biff.

We assumed a boy.

Until we met the new kid, a girl named Bliss.

Not sure which name is better or worse really.

Pebblesflintstoneandbambamrubble · 25/08/2023 11:41

My poor friend nina was 'nee-nor' for ages thanks to my ds
Problem was, everyone started calling the poor woman that!

MyShmoo · 25/08/2023 11:43

Reception aged DC has friends called 'oliviasee' and 'oliviaem' (Olivia c & Olivia m obviously 😂) but he refuses to acknowledge that they are just called Olivia with the letter of their surname to differentiate between them, no matter how many times/ways I've tried to explain.
In fact we went to Olivia M's party last weekend where Olivia C wasn't present and he INSISTED that she be called 'Oliviaem' for the entirety despite not needing to differentiate. I was mortified but noticed all the other kids did the same! Lol

spiderlight · 25/08/2023 11:44

When my car-mad ds was in primary, he was very excited that the new boy in his class was called Garage. Turned out to be Gareth!

Sprogonthetyne · 25/08/2023 11:47
