How Many Toilets Do You Have?

We had 3 in our old house which was a pain for cleaning but great generally! Now we have 1 & it sometimes drives me mad, especially as we have a teenage daughter. I would love to add another one downstairs for those desperate moments lol 🤣

We have 3 bathrooms and a WC, yes the cleaning is hard work (the shower cubicles are a right b!tch ) but with 4 teenage girls often here and us I absolutely couldn’t have less!

beyourownchampion · 17/08/2023 08:05

Six. Pain in the arse to clean. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, three is probably plenty ….

Roselilly36 · 17/08/2023 08:07

2 now we have downsized to a bungalow.

RandalsAunty · 17/08/2023 08:08

3 toilets (2 bathrooms upstairs and toilet downstairs). En-suite used only by DH & I, kids use the main bathroom and everyone downstairs now. However when my boys were smaller I only used en-suite - those who have boys would understand what I mean.

We have a cleaner that comes weekly. Weekly clean was not enough with little boys though, somehow I was the only one who would notice that 🤷🏼‍♀️ and clean!

Thewallsof · 17/08/2023 08:14

1 there's just 2 of us though

byvirtue · 17/08/2023 08:15

6 here too for a 6 bed, fine when I didn’t clean the house but now I do it’s a PITA. I only clean the two I use, but we have guests this weekend so they will all need checking!

Fun fact insurers sometimes won’t insure houses with more than 5 bathrooms.

EvenlyDetermined · 17/08/2023 08:19

One for two adults and two teens, its fine apart from when someone is ill.

ehupo7 · 17/08/2023 08:28

Most people on this thread seem to be saying 4 toilets 😂

Barely anyone has 1 or 2.

Self-selection bias or is everyone just having a laugh? 😁

Woofappreciationday · 17/08/2023 08:29

7.. 6 bed house

My parents have 58 but they own a hotel so... i guess it counts

katienana · 17/08/2023 08:29

One, it drives me crazy. Moving soon and new house has 4!

FindingMeno · 17/08/2023 08:33

One for 5 of us.

Limetreee · 17/08/2023 08:37

Three in a two bed house, and there’s only two of us. We use them all though 🤣

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 17/08/2023 08:48

We have lived in 18 houses and 16 of them had two loos; 1 had four loos; and currently we have six. Moving again soon and will be down to three. These have all been military married quarters. I would say four was the perfect number (one right by the back door was especially useful).

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 17/08/2023 09:06

We also have 14 sinks/basins 😱

Needingacoffee · 17/08/2023 09:09

Just the 2, but I live in a 2 bedroomed house.

  1. Three bed house when we bought it, two beds with en suite and another family bathroom for the other one. Downstairs there's a small granny annex bedroom which also has its own bathroom (rarely used) and a downstairs loo in the main bit of the house.

Since moving in we converted a bit of loft space into another bedroom also with an en-suite. It's great since everyone apart from me seems to be in there for hours. However, despite having their own bathrooms they still poo in the downstairs loo which really gets on my nerves as it's right off the hallway and the stench wafts out if they leave the door open. Unacceptable!!

Also the replacement of loo rolls is a pain - If DS1 has run out he'll just take it from DS2 and DD gets through it at a rate of knots so I've often got two of them shouting "Muuuu-u-uummmm!! I need loo-roll!!!" I mean, I could be more organised about all this, but I'm not.

LBOCS2 · 17/08/2023 09:19

3, one next to the family bathroom, one in our en-suite and one downstairs. When we do the loft conversion next year we'll have four.

We moved from somewhere which had one. That wasn't really enough for 5 people (including two toddlers to potty train, one after the other). The main draw of this house was that it had a downstairs loo!

Satsumaonaplate · 17/08/2023 09:26

5! Two bathrooms, two ensuite, one cloakroom

Elphame · 17/08/2023 09:29

4 at the moment

Rocknrollstar · 17/08/2023 09:38

We have three. One on each floor. But as my grandmother wisely said ‘who is going to clean them?’ We sometimes go away with our grown up DD and now only book properties with two loos. For Xmas we have found one with two bathrooms and one year we excelled ourselves by finding a cottage with two en-suite bathrooms.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/08/2023 09:39
  1. One for me, one for DP.
celticprincess · 17/08/2023 10:33

Just the 1. Me and my 2 DDs and it’s an absolute pain. One DD is autistic and has issues around toilets and some mornings we can all be trapped until she’s been in. Would love to add in a second toilet but no where in our small terraced house. Would love to move but to move to another 3 bed but not terrace would be almost 3 times the price of my current house and a single parent working part time I just couldn’t do it. As a child I grew up with 3 toilets.

Even to split the toilet from the bathroom would be helpful. Back when I was younger all the houses had a separate toilet but were all eventually knocked through to family bathrooms. I can now see why the separate toilet if only one is good. Someone always needs the loo when I’m in the shower and my IBS can kick off at any time as well, often when someone is in the loo or the shower.

Jules912 · 17/08/2023 10:40

2, one on each floor. Seems the right amount for 4 of us, although don't yet have teenagers. I looked at a house with 4 when buying this one and all I could think was how much of a pain it would be to clean!

Oliotya · 17/08/2023 10:59

1 between 5 of us (though one doesn't use a toilet yet). Hoping to have a 2nd before they're teens.
I'm surprised so many people have so many toilets! I've never lived anywhere with more than 2.

xprincessxjanetx · 17/08/2023 11:23

Five

1 downstairs, 2 en suites on the middle floor plus the main bathroom and 1 on the top floor as an en suite.
