How Many Toilets Do You Have?

We had 3 in our old house which was a pain for cleaning but great generally! Now we have 1 & it sometimes drives me mad, especially as we have a teenage daughter. I would love to add another one downstairs for those desperate moments lol 🤣

  1. A luxury to me when I grew up with just 1 between (eventually) 7 of us. Less so for DH who was used to 3 between 4 people.
WellPlaced · 15/08/2023 21:45

4
there’s only 2 of us

Yfory · 15/08/2023 21:46

One. At a previous house we had two. I much prefer only having one - only one to clean!

Buckingham palace or Windsor castle?

Buckingham Castle. Grin

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/08/2023 21:47

One in our downstairs bathroom

MysteryBelle · 15/08/2023 21:48

For the people saying they have a cloakroom, does that always mean a powder room (half bath, toilet and sink) or can it also mean a large closet room to hang coats? I’ve always wondered this. Have seen vintage house plans in which the cloakroom is a small room with a window that houses coats (cloaks) that sometimes also contains a door to a half bath. I’m in USA.

Perfectlyblended · 15/08/2023 21:49

We have 3 bathrooms and an extra toilet.

I have my own bathroom
kids have a sensory bathroom
and the 3rd is the dogs bathroom 🤣

A cloakroom here in the UK is generally just a toilet and sink

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/08/2023 21:50

3, one ensuite, one family bathroom, one downstairs.
I wouldn’t want any more.
When I was a child there were 6 of us in a 4 bed house with one indoor loo, though at least it was separate from the bathroom - as they nearly all were then.
We did have an outside one, for the gardener or skivvy, neither of which we ever had, but never used it - it was always a favourite haunt of local spiders.

CornishGem1975 · 15/08/2023 21:51

We have four. One cloak, one family bathroom, two ensuites. It's more than I want to have to clean.

DreamItDoIt · 15/08/2023 21:51

5

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 15/08/2023 21:53

One between 5 of us.

We should have two, as I we had arranged with a local bathroom fitter to fit a downstairs toilet, however, he ghosted us and we used the money to render the front of the house instead.

Maybe next year!

mondaytosunday · 15/08/2023 21:54

Three. Three bed plus office terrace - loo downstairs, main floor snd en suite to loft. If there hadn't been one downstairs already I'd put one in .

fluffiphlox · 15/08/2023 21:54

Three. There are two of us.

Allsweep · 15/08/2023 21:54

3 for 4 of us. One we rarely use

BeverleyMacker · 15/08/2023 21:55

Louloulouenna · 15/08/2023 21:01

Also 7, find it a massive nuisance as I’m always discovering that people have been using a loo unbeknownst to me and they have been left in a bad way!

7??? Where do you live? Downton abbey? 😁

Backtothe90splease · 15/08/2023 21:59

We have 5. 2 ensuites, family bathroom and 2 WCs.

I viewed a house with 7 en suites bedrooms, family bathroom, downstairs WC and gardener's toilet (ie accessible from a boot room type thing). I felt 10 bathrooms was really too many!

thelengthspeoplegoto · 15/08/2023 22:01
  1. New build. 1 WC downstairs. Family bathroom upstairs. Our en suite and kids jack and Jill.
It is a lot of toilets to clean but feels a bit like a luxury. I love never having to wait.
FawnFrenchieMum · 15/08/2023 22:01

Four and their are four of us.

Downstairs - used by all
Middle floor en-suite - was originally a playroom and used by all, now teen sons bedroom so only used by him.
Top floor - main bathroom, used mostly by DD but sometimes by DH
Top floor en-suite - mainly used by me, DH overnight.

I HATE cleaning them, so we have a cleaner that comes and just does all the bathrooms and the stairs / landings.

Cloakroom in the UK usually means a small downstairs room with a toilet and sink in, no shower or bath .. Often off the entrance hallway somewhere. They don't usually have a space for coats as well and who would want to hang their coats in the downstairs toilet anyway,

Calling it a cloakroom is confusing as it really usually has nothing to do with clothes storage but there you are ....that's us British for you,,,😄
Just waiting now to be told this is not true in Scotland/Wales etc ......

thorneyislanddoris · 15/08/2023 22:01

4 - downstairs loo, main bathroom and 2 en-suites

GangleLoper · 15/08/2023 22:02
Bellyblueboy · 15/08/2023 22:02

Three. I live alone. The family bathroom one is never used😂

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/08/2023 22:05

3 but they're all upstairs. I wish I had a downstairs loo!
