Thanks Duncin.

A whole 900 beds eh? Yes that will fix the NHS. Presumably they don't need staff and additional room or anything?

pointythings · 15/08/2023 20:39

It's actually sad that we will probably need quite a few more of these before this government puts itself out of our misery.

L1ttledrummergirl · 15/08/2023 20:40

Thanks @pointythings.

Blossomtoes · 15/08/2023 20:45

Thanks guys. Where will we go when we finally see the back of this lot? Our threads will become redundant.

DuncinToffee · 15/08/2023 20:49

Oh dear Grin

It's kicking off in Tory WhatsApp groups...

Several MPs are fuming after CCHQ bungled their campaign literature - even getting their constituencies wrong!

Wrexham's Sarah Atherton says she's a "laughing stock" after all of her content focused on Gloucester...

All right, own up. Which of you has been working at CCHQ? 😂

DuncinToffee · 15/08/2023 21:17

On those 900 beds

https://twitter.com/danielgoyal/status/1691466667019407360?s=20

Today’s announcement by the Government claiming a new investment of £250m “creating 900” additional beds in England is actually a massive step down from their “Urgent & Emergency Care Recovery Plan” from Jan ‘23 when they committed to 5000 new beds by this winter!

OP posts:
Blossomtoes · 15/08/2023 21:26

It’s a bit like the 40 new hospitals then.

Notonthestairs · 15/08/2023 21:33

Oh I assumed the 900 was on top of the 5000.

Don't medical leaders suggest we actually need an additional 11,000 beds?

Blossomtoes · 15/08/2023 21:37

They’ve cut 12,000 beds since 2010.

Blossomtoes · 15/08/2023 20:52

All right, own up. Which of you has been working at CCHQ? 😂

I don’t think they need our help tbh.

Whatever the 900 beds is, I don’t think it’s as advertised. Quite possible not new money either.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/08/2023 21:48

And it may be by the end of the financial year I.E. March. Which will be really useful when the winter peak is in December.

mibbelucieachwell · 15/08/2023 22:37

January , according to the beeb.

No mention of any more medics by then though.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/08/2023 22:54

Medics not included.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/08/2023 23:08

I think it’s more that that they expect most of them to be in place by January. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the government define as ‘most’.

Zonder · 16/08/2023 00:09

Did they find those 900 beds lying around in some old barge?

AdamRyan · 16/08/2023 08:03

Morning

Blossomtoes · 16/08/2023 08:09

Hello - another day of government jolly japes and shenanigans!

dontcallmelen · 16/08/2023 08:11

Thank you Duncin & fabulous thread title Pointy

Piggywaspushed · 16/08/2023 08:14

Checking in!

itsgettingweird · 16/08/2023 08:32

Good morning.

Joining you.

The thread titles get better and better although I'm not sure the inspiration for them is necessarily a good thing!

Blossomtoes · 16/08/2023 09:00

Jesus, that vile safe routes thread’s still going. I don’t know where you find the patience @jgw1 and @AdamRyan.

DuncinToffee · 16/08/2023 09:03

It's gone even viler

I briefly opened it last night and backed out quickly.

I see today is public sector pay rises cause inflation day again. Which is odd because yesterday they waste all over wage growth even though it wasn’t a real terms wage growth.

mibbelucieachwell · 16/08/2023 11:38

Yes, public sector pay rises causes inflation. Fortunately inflation is creeping down. Still higher than most comparable countries. Despite our public sector pay being less than most comparable countries.

Yesterday's news - highest pay rises for 22 years. Well, doh. Obviously seeing as inflation was over 10% this year. The beeb had an employer solemnly describing how he was kindly doing his bit to help his minimum wage employees with the cost of living crisis by giving them a 5% pay rise. I despair.
