Wait - not a pay to enter theme park surely - not Thorpe Park or Chessington. Could be Southend, they've had the Oxford Street trouble makers this week

What is this Oxford St thing please

Livelovebehappy · 12/08/2023 08:34

I love people watching!

WonderingWanda · 12/08/2023 08:35

In summer in the UK there are always men that take their tops off and walk about in inappropriate places.

Teenagers always wear nothing in winter and overdress in summer....it's some sort of mild rebellion.

The Brits are known globally for having crap teeth due to not having private dental care.

Swearing has become much endemic, I work in a secondary school and most teenagers cannot stop themselves.

Decent kids shoes are expensive and you might not have noticed a cost of living crisis going on lately.

At a theme park you will encounter all sorts of people, some of them will be nice and some will be abusive pricks but let's be clear that being an abusive prick isn't linked to class, it's just that the more educated pricks are better at hiding it and the middle class wives are ashamed it's happening to them so they try to hide it.

Some thoughts though correct are best left in one’s own head!

taybert · 12/08/2023 08:38

Well I wasn’t expecting an existential crisis this morning. They still have their labels on, maybe I should just send them back, I don’t really have time for all that.

Schemes · 12/08/2023 08:39

I've got a missing tooth at the moment because of a dentistry disaster. I'm getting an implant for £3000 but the whole process takes six months.

I've got a 'plate' with a fake tooth but I don't like having it in so I'm just having the gap.

I'm too posh to have ever been to a theme park though so it can't have been me you saw.

If you weren’t judging, it’s funny how your list is so negative isn’t it. It’s horrible. And sneery

SoRad · 12/08/2023 08:43

Window82 · 11/08/2023 23:48

*short Nike pro shorts. Not shirt

no not Blackpool not AT not a Merlin

dont want to out myself but not them.

You’re not going to out yourself by naming the theme park ffs! There were thousands there that day!!

… flamingo land?

clpsmum · 12/08/2023 08:45

@BlackOps me too it's vile. I can't imagine going somewhere with my kids and focusing on what other people are wearing and how many teeth they have!!!

MossCow · 12/08/2023 08:48

I know. And having the opinion that other people would care what some woman they don't know thinks of their appearance. It's baffling.

Schemes · 12/08/2023 08:50

dont want to out myself but not them.

You should have name changed then as you have loads of previous posts. Confused

clpsmum · 12/08/2023 08:51

@MossCow it really is. And that other people would care what you let your children wear on their feet!!!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 12/08/2023 08:56

CrapBucket · 11/08/2023 23:31

Did you watch your life slide out of view?

Coz everybody hates a tourist Grin

Fuckingfuming1 · 11/08/2023 23:05

Go to Disney instead, id rather go to Florida on e than Alton Towers every week

Me too. We’ve just come back from Orlando and the difference between the parks there and here are vast. Everyone obeys the shirt and shoes rule, didn’t hear any swearing or shouting. People were just happier. The parks were cleaner, better maintained and security were visible everywhere.

dottiedodah · 12/08/2023 09:00

If they are enjoying themselves who cares? Theme Parks are just a more modern equivilent of a Funfair.Ordinary people who cant afford the Dentist(national Scandal)like to relax ,and shock horror remove tops(Although many theme parks dont allow this ) and I agree not a good look .The gold chains OK ,and tight fit dresses surely up to them .I never notice what anyone wears and hope no one judges me!

IDoughnutKnow · 12/08/2023 09:01

Window82 · 11/08/2023 23:18

😂
I wasn’t judging it’s what I noticed.

The swearing though was ridiculous.

I think you'd have been entirely justified in judging.

There ought to be some special enclosure for people who dress like this.

LlynTegid · 12/08/2023 09:01

Well at least from your description I know it was in the UK. I bet if you had a list of observations from a theme park in France or Spain, the queues would feature in your list, perhaps some of the swearing (in the local language), but none of the other things you list.

BBno4 · 12/08/2023 09:02

When I went Chessington I noticed the young girls wearing shorts that were far too short(like the modesty shorts girls wear underwear dresses) and they has their breasts on display, I just assumed this was how people outside of London dressed as it was the majority not the minority.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 12/08/2023 09:05

Some young girls dressing in a way which which has lots of flesh on show has been the case since the year dot though. It's just what they do.

Lord I dressed in a way that would trigger immense pearl clutching when I was a young 'un Grin

IDoughnutKnow · 12/08/2023 09:05

It's not an 'outside of London' thing: it's a 'certain types of people' thing.

Silvered · 12/08/2023 09:06

dont want to out myself but not them

As evidenced by OP's post, there were lots of people at the theme park she visited. Is it such a risk that one of OP's friends might read this thread, nod sagely and say "I bet that was Natalie. She said she was taking the children to Grotty Adventure Land"?

I suspect it's the embarrassment factor of being seen to visit such a destination, rather than fear of being outed online.

boobearandme · 12/08/2023 09:07

@Supercat65 and little dogs in pushchairs!

ScarlettDarling · 12/08/2023 09:09

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/08/2023 23:22

Was anyone :

Smoking in the queue
Pissing in the hedges
Throwing up behind the ride (combination of fast food and fast rides would have me hurling)

Once at Chessington ( years ago) a young bloke was holding a lit ciggie at his side near my DS face and I had to yell at him in French to move it .
Probably my finest mothering moment !

Not really relevant to the thread but why did you have to yell in French??

cheezncrackers · 12/08/2023 09:10

FGS OP don't ever go to a water park. I don't want to say what I saw there, but Oh my eyes!
